- Recently, my puppies and kittens were choosing between raw and boiled meat. Their preferences surprised us. Let's see what my huskies and cats will choose now. Will the dogs eat a raw egg or a boiled egg. Which of the eggs will the cats choose?
By the way, chicken and quail eggs contain a rich mineral and vitamin complex. In addition, eggs have an almost complete set of essential amino acids. But it is important to choose safe eggs. If we are not sure about chicken eggs, we prefer to buy quail eggs. They are also delicious and healthy for dogs and cats.

My baby is look like like Yuki the last husky, she is half blood ( the only difference is that she has the one ear down) and she is 7 years old now. I have read to some sites ( sometimes she is difficult with food) what the huskies must eat, a must to eat is the egg the outside of the egg ( sorry my English is not so good so i try my best) is full of proteins so must to eat. But only boiled not raw or cooking. I have tried to give her and for months was like crazy waiting for the food time to come. Now she is boring again and i am looking for next food tricks... By the way she is crazy for bananas, not joke, when i open it she eat it all and then looking for the outside ( i put it in my flowers for fertilizer). If your dog's eat them too, ok is a husky thing if not is my baby's thing.
For my cats i half boil an egg, put in 2-3 tbsp yoghurt and blend well, half to one half to the other, they dont leave one single drop of it, and its healthy to my knowledge.. of course its not a regular everyday food but 1-2 times a week..

I think the best way to do this particular test is to go ahead and set up before you let the dog/cat in. Place both plates close together and see which one the dog/cat goes to 1st. Then do the test two and three times and check results.

They are obligate carnivores and can actually still recognise food as food unlike a lot of more domesticated animals. Ferrets will also choose raw eggs unless they’re Marshall’s
Wild domesticated cats are closer to their wild counterparts than domesticated dogs are, it seems to me the main factor was whether or not the real yolk had been broken and exposed so they could smell it, much more than whether it was a cat or a dog.
What wonderful animals they all are. I especially got a kick out of the cats’ reactions. Thank you.

My kitty boy Buffy surprised me when he showed me how much he loved eggs. After he enthusiastically pounced them while I was trying to peel, I would always be sure to share specially sliced egg with him whenever I baked any. It was a joy to watch him love his treats so much. 🥰

First I have to say you have trained your gorgeous huskies so well - and, let's face it - dogs may have preferences but are just so happy to try anything on a plate - sometimes your own. Cats are tricky-I am going to try the egg test again with my girl tomorrow. I am not sure she understands her own tastebuds, let alone anything else...

Interesting how the presenter 'weighed' the husky's choice by petting the dogs when they ate the option he preferred. Pretty much for the cats as well. Most larger doggos that I have known will chow down on an egg, shell and all, very happily once they get used to the texture. No big thing: they happily chew on raw bones, dry kibble, etc. An egg shell is no where near as difficult as a raw bone. My dogs always got a whole raw egg in their breakfast. Cats also, in my experience, prefer raw egg. It's what they eat in nature when they rob a bird nest. If the egg is small enough they will even eat the shell, just like they will chew on the fresh bones of partially developed bird bones in shell and hunted small birds. There is good calcium in bones and an egg shell.

Well, for the purity of experiment you should've put the food before the animals enter. Because otherwise they don't understand if they have to eat raw eggs (which you were obviously biased to for some reason) or they can choose

I find it amusing how picky some animals can be, and especially how most of them prefer the yolk over the whites.

Most dogs and cats love raw eggs. I used to give my dog a special treat once a week, a whole egg, she took it in her mouth and went into the garden and ate it. It is really good for their coat. x
If I were one of those animals, I would organise the rest into a special ops team to take out the irritant who kept messing with me while I was trying to eat. Animals just want protein and to be left alone to eat it. See most of them showing majority interest in the yolk, especially the first dog who obviously didn’t want the clear tasteless snot part.
our border collies prefer raw eggs above boiled ones ! never knew they would not like any eggs boiled by their meals untill one dog had to have extra protien evey meal time! vet said boiled eggs were best , but he would not even touch them ! looked at me as if i wanted to poison him or something hahah! so now they all get a raw egg every week . unfortunally our sick dog did not make it , he past away 2 moths ago , i miss my barking loud noiser

You need to put the food down first, then let them in and see what they go to first. Olive only liked egg yolks.
Dogs can actually digest egg shells and absorb the calcium. I don't know about cats, though it's likely they can too. Simple kitchen vinegar will eventually dissolve the shell of a whole egg, leaving just the membrane to contain the white and yolk.

This reinforced what I had read: dogs prepare you for babies and toddlers while cats give you an idea of what teenagers are like.

My first cats loved eggs, they would eat a quail egg in the morning each.
They lived 19 and 14 years. My now cat, Haru, won't even look at eggs.

monty said he wanted the cooked egg, but you said wait not to eat it when it was put down first so he ate the raw one first. try having them already in bowls and place at the same time. Dog tend to like cooked yolk and raw whites. But either way still cute to watch thanks for the smiles.x

My dog was abused and malnutritioned when I adopted her, she's so spoiled now that she doesn't eat an egg half the time you give her one. The only way she will for sure eat it everytime is freshly scrambled and still warm.

It would be better to have the two plates ready before they come into the room,. Then no undue influence.
Saw that coming. Dogs aren't picky eaters. They eat from garbage cans, so cooked or raw doesn't matter to them. I think if the meat was bite sized it would have appealed more to the cats. The pieces of meat were bigger than their heads.
There was a study done on 3 generations of cats fed cooked meat and raw meat. By the 3rd gen most died at birth.

For this choices I found other videos where the dog owner taught them the command "taste" and they would just slightly lick each food and them choose. Wait - taste - choose. Maybe you would like to give it a try. Good job with your pets anyway.

Teaching a dog to wait and sit for it’s food is a basic obedience task. But you have to give them some consistent visible sign that they can take it. My dog was taught first that the food doesn’t even make an appearance unless she is quiet and sitting. Then even if I put some on her paw or nose she knows to leave it until I signal. The signal to start was verbal, “take it” then gradually progressed to a definite hand signal (not pointing or wishy-washy) Now, She knows that a certain look from me mean take it. But it is a look she only sees at that time so she has some frame of reference.
Now, with the eggs…she would have eaten the cooked egg first, but she would have taken the whole thing not just the yolk and then she would have moved to the raw and again all of it would go.
She is a little dog, weigh only 5kg (10lb for America) but has the appetite of a great dane. She will eat anything and I mean anything, except celery. Celery is totally ignored, she will sniff then walk away. Which leaves me wondering if humans should eat it.
My take away hint from this is…be definite of action, be consistent in actions, but mostly enjoy your dog.

Prediction before I watched the entire video: the huskies will choose both. The cat will choose neither or just the cooked yolk.
ETA: Everyone preferred the yolk, and wow the kitties liked both as well!
The second and third dogs looked at the man's face to get a clue of what was expected of them and they saw that he was looking at the raw egg so they ate what they though the man wanted them to eat.

I have a cat who is too particular.
Will only have a "taste" of what you're eating, then leave.
He won't eat eggs, a piece of cheese, beef.... FISH. He won't even eat a piece of salmon!
Chicken he'll eat, but it better be plain chicken.
And by golly , if we're having pasta, he'll beg, but there is a catch...... better be sure there's sauce on it.
He'll just look at it and look at you until there is sauce on that little piece of pasta.

Cats eat anything when they are starving.
Conclusion: they all like egg yolk and will sometimes tolerate the other stuff that seems to come with it.
