1. Halo 3 ODST they are bloody terrifying. Having a chieftain charge you is one of the most intense memories I have of Halo 2. Halo 2 their name really shines here because they are a bullet sponge and the fight with Tartarus was stupid hard 3. Halo 3 because even though I struggle with them at times dropping their shields was relatively easy. But when they wield explosives they are pretty deadly 4. Reach because they are a headshot machine
The fight with Tartarus for me was easier than Regret and the Heretic leader. Easier than taking down the scarab as well. The real final boss was Regret... 126 deaths there.
I think I know why in halo 2 they go berserk, I have found that when you kill one, the other will go into berserk, almost like a random buddy system. Just from my experience.

Enter Username happens a few times throughout the games in scripted situations, for example at the end of Halo Reach there is a Field Marshall with a fuel rod who takes out a sword once his shields are down. Arbiter in halo 3 will also switch to sword once his shields are down but it is not something they typically do in gameplay.
For sure. Already in earlier difficulties, they are the juggernauts of the convenant. Now add this to the jetpack elites, white elites, jackal snipers, hunters etc ... the result is legendary.

@johan alejandro it was also because the enemy was a lot faster at attacking you when they saw you. in other halo games the enemy would wait a very short moment before attacking you when spotted. in halo 2 they INSTANT attack when they see you

I think you forgot to mention that in ODST when you play as the Rookie, Brutes are protected by the engineer's shield, and that also makes them harder to fight if you can't eliminate that creature before.
I don't think the brutes were well represented in any halo game. Realistically, brutes would be terrifying in any situation, and for all those who say they're a dumb primitive race because they constantly fight, I disagree, constantly fighting means you must constantly adapt and think and be on guard. I mean look at Atriox, I think he's a good example of a brute that was given the opportunity to reach his natural potential

Now, imagine one that is bigger, tougher, stronger and smarter. If a Brute got let loose in a group of marines, they’re going to be throwing people at each other, ripping them limb from limb, beating people with blades weapons and firing glowing spikes at high speeds. They’d be terrifying and scatter people, like a shock trooper. Send in a few crazed bloodthirsty brutes, scatter the lines and pick them of with jackal snipers.

And those are just less experienced and tactical minded brutes, but when you look at the brutes that have had the opportunity to learn and grow in power (like atriox), they're clearly a force to reckoned with, maybe even more so than the covenant itself. lol hammers over swords~
I just thought, what would a Gravity Hammer do to a person? We see in Halo that it can toss any of the foes and you through the air. If we apply the knowledge that it can throw a 1000 pound Spartan, that's a lot of force (someone else do the maths). That force being projected down onto you would probably turn you into mulch. That's gotta be horrific.
For some reason in reach I like to use a shotty and punch the brutes after a headshot but usually in that process I get killed because I’m not a very good halo player

Yea, duh. That's why you are not able to headshot them until their armor falls of. It's a shield. The only difference is once it's completely destroyed it cant be regenerated.

Most people do not notice the regenerating shield because it takes so long to regenerate and it is so easy to strip their armor with the plasma pistol or just needle them to death.

Halo 2 brutes are a real enemy. I recently played through Reach for the first time actually, they were kinda disappointing. The a.i in that game was surprisingly good though, but in Halo 2 they act like real brutish killing machines.

Brutes they're like 8-9 feet tall giants that can lift a Spartan in full armor with one hand, That's 1000 pounds btw. That's just base strength with no power armour.
Only thing missed was the fact that brutes in halo 2 also use the UNSC shotgun from time to time, and those ones don't always drop it when they go crazy resulting in you getting your shields blown in the same move that they push your face in.

The mission in halo 2 when you first encounter brutes on legendary was the hardest in my opinion. I remember dumping so many rounds into them and they still continue running at you in berserk mode
I'm a noob when it comes to Legendary difficulty, so the Brutes in Halo 3 did their job very well, they cornered me on the second mission to the point that with the weapons, ammo, and health I had at the checkpoint, it was literally impossible, they had a chieftain, I always go for the chieftain normally just to get one of my 5 favourite weapons, the gravity hammer and I just smash it in their faces, but when it came to legendary, it wasn't going to be that easy, so my tactic still applied but the problem was the next rank down took the gravity hammer when the chieftain died, and so I had 2 guys to take out first without getting killed by the others, but it was hard to hit them, they dodged and wasted my ammo, forcing me to duck and cover and try to sneak around to get any dead brute weapon without getting caught, but it just became so bad and so impossible that I had to start the entire level over just to get past, and I'm not that good on legendary as I only started my first ever legendary campaign on Halo 3 in the past 2 years and I don't play often as I try to keep variety in my games, so I just suck and need practice, I'm more of a pro at collectathons, I knew this in Overwatch and Halo 3 online multiplayer PVP because my butt was kicked fast and I didn't stand any chance and got no kills and died a lot

Halo CE doesn't have brutes until halo 2 cause I don't count halo spv3 when I compare enemies or allies in all halo games

Brutes they're like 8-9 feet tall giants that can lift a Spartan in full armor with one hand, That's 1000 pounds btw. That's just base strength with no power armour.

When brutes are hairy, they look like yetis; when they are hairless, they look like ogres.
Only thing missed was the fact that brutes in halo 2 also use the UNSC shotgun from time to time, and those ones don't always drop it when they go crazy resulting in you getting your shields blown in the same move that they push your face in.
halo 3 are obviously the strongest. they have shields. however the reach brutes have better ai but no shields

At 8:20 is the main reason why I think halo ODST was the dopest shit. it really shows the reality and size of the brutes compared to average humans.

5. Halo 4 (there are none again)

The mission in halo 2 when you first encounter brutes on legendary was the hardest in my opinion. I remember dumping so many rounds into them and they still continue running at you in berserk mode

I'm a noob when it comes to Legendary difficulty, so the Brutes in Halo 3 did their job very well, they cornered me on the second mission to the point that with the weapons, ammo, and health I had at the checkpoint, it was literally impossible, they had a chieftain, I always go for the chieftain normally just to get one of my 5 favourite weapons, the gravity hammer and I just smash it in their faces, but when it came to legendary, it wasn't going to be that easy, so my tactic still applied but the problem was the next rank down took the gravity hammer when the chieftain died, and so I had 2 guys to take out first without getting killed by the others, but it was hard to hit them, they dodged and wasted my ammo, forcing me to duck and cover and try to sneak around to get any dead brute weapon without getting caught, but it just became so bad and so impossible that I had to start the entire level over just to get past, and I'm not that good on legendary as I only started my first ever legendary campaign on Halo 3 in the past 2 years and I don't play often as I try to keep variety in my games, so I just suck and need practice, I'm more of a pro at collectathons, I knew this in Overwatch and Halo 3 online multiplayer PVP because my butt was kicked fast and I didn't stand any chance and got no kills and died a lot
