- Almost a complete rethink on the materials and construction processes, the new Ekster 3.0 Parliament ups the game for reliable and long-lasting box wallets. With an fully anodized aluminum box and with the trigger being made from one piece of material, it’s smoother, sturdy and it looks great! Combine that with a slimmer tracker card and you're getting to where your vision of this type of Ekster Parliament wallet has always been. @ekster

top tip for embossed cards,, flip em so the embossed side of one is facing the embossed side of another card but one will be on the left and one will be on the right so the end up taking up a bit less space. you can then fit 6 embossed cards
Your review helped me so much on deciding to purchase the 3.0 wallet for my son. Thank you for taking the time to review this wallet!
Thanks! Glad we could help.
Have personally been carrying the Parliament wallet since September, once winter hit I slipped on some ice, landed on it in my back pocket and the trigger mechanism wasn't working nearly as well afterward. I contacted Ekster and they sent me a brand new one free of charge once I mentioned to them that the trigger was starting to fail.
thats what i wanted to hear
My Ekster [Merlot red] and tracker card arrived about a week ago. This thing is what God must use as a wallet paired with the tracker.
Absolutely blown away by how much peace of mind this gives me. I had left my wallet in my room and went to hang out with my neighbour and the Chipolo app asked if I had left my Ekster behind. I was amazed lol
I own a Parliament 3.0 with the Chipolo tracker. I haven’t had the combo long enough to make an assessment on durability or longevity, but so far I like the versatility of the wallet, and the leather is gorgeous. I also use the Chipolo tracker in other items that I own, like backpacks and hip bags. Until Apple AirTags come out and are in widespread use, I’ll continue to use the Ekster Chipolo tracker. It’s worked as advertised so far.
@Mark: FYI, I purchased a Dango M1 Maverick Bifold in Rawhide/Raw Aluminum on Amazon last night, based on your RUclips review. (I could’ve purchased it at 15% off, directly via Dango’s website spring sale, but with the enticement of same-day delivery from Amazon, I’m hoping it will arrive as a factory-fresh item today! Lately Amazon has failed me about 30% of the time wrt sending me products that are truly NITB and unscathed in their increasingly flimsy shipping packages.)
I’ll post a “first impressions” comment with your Dango M1 Maverick review, after I’ve tinkered with it and given it an initial field test. I hope all the online hype lives up to the premium price I paid for it.
First off, thanks for having the correct spelling of our name.
I have a question. Given that the tracker is in the back, is there a durability issue with it? I'm not a big fan of airtags or other cos versions, they're a bit to bubble shaped for my liking.
Edit: what is the trigger made out of?
Best review I have found so far and thank you for covering the RFID issues. Being able to use transit cards and access badges is a huge deal.
You should review the more premium version, the Vachetta Parliament 3.0. Unlike the regular version which uses a thin corrected grain leather, the Vachetta version uses much thicker full grain, vegetable tanned Italian leather. I purchased compared both and returned the regular since the leather quality, thickness, and smell of the Vachetta was significantly better. Also, I find that the back pocket is actually the best place for cash especially with the thicker Vachetta version - you can put a lot of triple folded bills in the back pocket and still be able to fold the wallet flat whereas you can only put a few in the elastic strap and still be able to close flat. The back pocket flattens the bills nicely especially with the thicker leather version.
Great idea! We wanted to pick up the Fortuna, but they're sold out until March 2020, so the Vachetta it is!
What’s weird is I’ve never had an Ekster ad, until I clicked on a video reviewing Ekster
I got the AD first and it's what led me here lol.
Aloha Mark, new subscriber to your channel. Love your breakdown of the features. Also love your collection of Pelikan pens, lol! Would love to hear your breakdown of the pens too!
Thanks for the sub Dean! We've had many requests for that in the past. We're putting together something around my watches and pens 😀
I gotta know what pen your using. I've been into fountain pens for most of my life and yours really caught my eye
This would be the perfect box wallet if it was possible to close it with a snap like the Secrid. Hate it when my bifolds are flopping around in my pocket or when it's always half open when there's some cash in there :D
Yea I really wish they would just add a snap close that would be so nice.
Would really love to see a comparison between Tru Virtu Click & Slide vs Ekster Parliament
Na, hate how it doesnt close when cash is in it , secrid for the win
Are you're comparing it to the miniwallet, with the button?

Can you do a review on the new Andar pilot when it comes out ? :)
Already ordered it, just waiting for it to ship!
What do you do with wallet items that are not cards or cash, ie drivers license, library card, receipts, etc?
does anybody know if there is a way to find out the battery life on the tracker through the chipolo app? if not, any talks of updating the app?
@walletopia what do you think about Aurochs Gravity?
We have it in inventory for review, but haven't done a top down on it yet.
I have a question. Will the mechanism damage the edge of my cards over time?
I've done extensive reading on owners of box wallets and have never read where cards have been damaged. The mechanisms employed by box card vendors all use a similar sweep action which is careful with the cards.
I realise this post will have a shelf life but Ekster currently have 40% off using the black Friday code PRE-BF. Not sure if other manufacturers have offers on but the discount swung it for me and I ordered an Ekster Senate.
Daniel Bull BE Careful. When you buy it on sale you cannot return!! I learned this the hard way.
@@scottyb159 Not sure where you are based Scott but thats illegal in the UK. Distance selling regulations state they have to accept returns up to a certain number of days, as long as you haven't damaged the goods of course.
Daniel Bull US. They let you exchange but not get a refund. They site a policy on their website that says only exchanges when 15% or greater discounts. This is an awful policy and a bit dishonest since the front page of the website clearly states free returns. So while it’s probably legal it’s just an tactic that no reputable vendor would ever use. Just make sure your viewers know about this policy.
@@scottyb159 Interesting, I just checked into this and its state dependant. You guys really get a rough ride in the USA huh. They would never get away with that in the EU.
Daniel Bull the reality is that reputable companies would generally not use these tactics because in the end it will come back to bite them. Most reputable retailers have very broad return policies because they recognize this works best in the long run. I would never buy again from this company, so this policy cost them a future customer and referrals. While a single person doesn’t mean anything by itself, we all know how that can suddenly grow. I’m still trying to exchange the wallet for another one and will give it a way.
most card are embossed these days so it really sucks that most these box wallet makers dont accomidate for embossed cards to fit more inside their boxes who the hell is going to buy these wallets just for 4 embossed cards only
What's your opinion on wallets made by Ogon Designs? Particularly the cascade wallet. Here's a link to their website: www.ogondesigns.com/en/portefeuille-cascade-wallet-ogon-designs.php
Thanks Alex, looks interesting, great to see another box wallet come out of Europe beyond Secrid. I like their adaptation of putting a zipper on the outside of it too.
Is there some type of problem with RFID protection I'm unaware of? I've always been under the impression that it's a good thing
For wallets, my argument is it's not needed, just a marketing scam. You can see my rant here, ruclips.net/video/QL2HEgOFQxc/видео.html. That said, if you're still concerned, get an RFID card which you can transfer between all your wallets instead of RFID built into your wallet.
@@walletopia that makes sense, I gave it a watch and a like. I guess RFID blocking fabric isn't necessarily a bad thing so long as real leather isn't sacrifice in the process, and fortunately my wallet of choice still uses real leather.
@@jonnyc212121 It is bad when it breaks IC cards from working which is a huge pain.
Does the tracker still work?
I haven't checked, but it recharges via solar so keep in the sun a couple hours every few months and it should keep on going.
Hi would you happen to have a ekster 2.0 you would be willing to get rid of?
what kind of watch are you wearing?
Citizen Stainless Blue Calendrier Watch - amzn.to/2RePYLG
walletopia Can you please do a review on the Andar pilot and thank you for the reply.
YES! I ordered it 6 months ago and it had production problems, but showed up last week, FINALLY. I've been wanting to look at their roller push mechanism for the cards. What I can say out of box is that it's hefty, weighing it at 127g!
What is the cost per month for the tracking
No cost as it uses a bluetooth connection between your phone and the tracker. The best distance the connection between the two has is around 200 ft when in line of sight. So it's not a true, stand-alone tracker, it relies on your phone to work.
Are all of the Parliament wallets including the vachetta Parliament 3.0??
Yes, in the beginning, there were distinctions between the versions (although they didn't advertise them) as they made changes to the button mechanism and some slight design adjustments. From my last conversation with them, they're no thing as a 4.0, soI believe it's settled in for the time being.
@@walletopia Thanks
Do the senate 3.0
Cash is still something people carry, i just dont understand why cant Ekster design something more open minded. Im using Ogon Cascade which is so much better to use but, i would like to see a different style of a wallet as well
Very true. We just finished scheduling the review for the Ogon Cascade and I really like how they handled the cash wrap portion. They gave proper attention to the leather attached to the box.
@@walletopia cant wait for your review on the cascade
@@milo4is It's releasing September 20th.
Does "The $118.00 EKSTER "PARLIAMENT" Tracker" PROVIDE TWO-SIDED 100% "RFID" technology?
The tracker doesn’t provide any RFID protection to my knowledge, it’s within the wallet itself.
Did you see they raised the Aurochs prices by 30-40%? + they added RFID, lol. It seems like you need to change their ratings, Mark :P Not such a great value anymore.
Upwards of 50% in some cases. It does affect their overall value, their price score goes down to a 2 or 3 depending on the model. We'll see how this affects them longer term. They were gaining great traction with their quality and pricing balance, but this adjustment puts them right with the herd and I'm not sure they're ready for that level of competition and/or scrutiny.
The ability to track your wallet with the help of a super thick "access card" looking thing is not appealing. I have never lost my wallet, so don't really see the value in this. Also not a fan of the Leather wrapped around metal/plastic style box wallets. One piece of leather folded and stitched is much more appealing. I'm waiting for you talk me out of my BSS!
Haha, I don't think I'll be able to talk you out of it because tried and true are tried and true for a reason :)
@@walletopia You're right. I think the only person that could talk me out of the SS, is Bellroy. If i have issues with quality as you have mentioned other have had, then I would be on the search! Their place in my pocket is theirs to lose, so to speak. I ordered a German wallet i found stumbling around online. The website was extremely hard to navigate, because they did not offer an english version that i could find, so i had to rely on google translate in chrome to do a half ass job, but It would be really cool if you could order one and do a review. I'd also be happy to send you the wallet once i receive it for a review, and then you could send it back to me when you're done....
kohlesack.de/produkt/kohlesack/
Well I just lost my wallet so that tracking card sounds much more appealing to me lol
@@remmy100 Was probably stolen, so the tracking card may not have helped anyways. Sorry about your wallet, that's a bummer.
song too catchy lol
😂
This guy looks like shoenices much more successful brother
😂
@@walletopia I also see Jeremy Clarksons American cousin lol. In all seriousness, just found your channel and I can't stop watching!
I’ll take it! Glad to have you with us!!
RFID protection is just stupid
Indeed, worst marketing gimmick with wallets in this century.
there is no way the usablity of this wallet is a 4. sure the little card elevator thing is cute but it simply sucks at carrying cash or anything else people carry in their wallets and it can trigger in your pocket and idk there are so many issues with this design. i have seen you judge much more user friendly wallets much more harshly and idk I just really don't this wallet is as good as your rating system says. yes I have carried one for 2 months and I returned it because I just didn't like using it and it was honestly annoying. i very very rarely return items. idk boss this ain't it idk what else to say, normally I agree with you but I really don't know how this got a 36/50. obviously this is your review and not mine, your opinion is totally valid I just cant help but disagree
Call it a card holder not wallet.
Dude if someone stole your wallet and you use the tracker be prepared to follow that asshole for a whole day or until he goes to a place with a lot less people to even tell who took it exactly.
True, but I'm sure the guidance would be if you believe it was stolen, be cautious. The promotion is more around if you misplaced it or forgot it somewhere like a store or restaurant.
Assuming the thief keeps the tracker inside the wallet, I would say leave it to the authorities but even they won't be able to do much. I literally showed the cop where my stolen phone was located. He told me "sorry I'm not a detective. You can fill out a police report" he didn't do nothing
Man, don't waste yur money. These cards a scam. Weak as all get up.....
