A wonderful rare clip of Miles Davis being introduced by Ronnie - amazing - everytime I visit the London jazz club and hear the theme tune - I get goosebumps - there is no club like it on earth - a British treasure! Hope all jazz lovers had a wonderful International Jazz Day yesterday! Cescalovesjazz!
What an amazing clip. Five years earlier and it was my funny Valentine. Suddenly it's this atonal voodoo. Such brave playing. Love some of the reactions this generates. Love it or hate it this band weren't afraid yet the critics accused him of being commercial. Miles didn't give a shit!
raise your hand if you were there when Miles appeared with this group in central park, 1969. what a shock! i had last seen the 'second great quintet' live in 1967. i wasn't prepared for the Electric Miles. at least Dave Holland played the acoustic bass!
Thanks for this amazing clip of the "Lost Quintet". I heard them play two nights in July of '69 at Juan Les Pins,Antibes. RTF filmed both nights for television. Hopefully the film will be made available. They were incredible concerts of ferociously creative music, played at the highest level.
It's not the last because I saw this band at the Colonial Tavern in Toronto, Canada about 1 month later on Dec. 9th. It was a Saturday afternoon matinee at the end of a week long gig and it only cost $1.50! As a wide eyed 15 year old I was never the same after that!!!
@0428mar I thought RUclips was about sharing music and opinions, so long as they aren't offensive of course! To quote Ronnie Scott, "Jazz sounds like a pet shop on fire to some people!"
Anyone who says this is shit hasn't heard The same track from Bitches Brew. You really need all that texture, or it only has horizontal detail. TV doesn't broadcast the right frequencies. This quintette is great though!
Not melody to your ears perhaps, but luckily there is more to music than ditties and nursery rhymes. It's not Miles Davis fault that you can't handle hard bop. Play some Glenn Miller and simmer down, grandma.
I am really sorry but i just dont get it... absolute WANK... maybe all the table candles were burning opium or something... I would ask for my money back!!! sorry guys.. but I suppose that is Jazz for you....

How many times I have wished that I were just a few years older, so I could have experienced the man with the horn.
So tough, love it, "go ahead Jack!"
I saw Peter Sellers do this at the beginning of Blake Edwards' film, The Party.
マイルスの映像って、圧倒的にヨーロッパが多くて、本国アメリカは驚くほど少ない。なんなんだろうね。
こんな映像、初めて見たよ。フルで残っていないのかな?見たい。
Now that's challenging!
Miles phrasing in this makes me vision seeing someone going onna shroom trip 🍄 trippin tf out
Miles was an artist. Playing Kind of Blue for the rest of his life was not what he wanted. Grow up and listen.
The Bootleg Series Vol. 2 of this band has been released!! Everyone check it out!!
Monderfile WesHall is great release of four concert 👍

Pretty sure this was miles' last club gig ever
what r these guys talking about
The intere concert is not recorded. Why??????
Each to his own, i guess. I suspect there are people who'd accept anything Miles did, even if it was just a fart. One of the dislikes is mine.
The emperors new clothes comes to mind. Not music to my ears!

Honestly I can't stand this never could.
Just noise. But in 1969 it was artistic noise.

Yeah, what would Miles know about what Jazz is...
And so you think Chick Corea would be wasting his time with Miles then??!!
