Dick Cavett is in re-runs currently on my cable channel. It is amazing how much time was allowed back then for in-depth interviews with interesting people like Miles. This is very unlike today's deplorarble rush/rush soundbite pace.
Cavett was sometimes too ingratiating to guests by half, I agree. And sometimes too calculatingly "witty", self-congratulation via fake self-deprecating humor. If you are the smartest guy in the room, you shouldn't telegraph your opinion. Still and all, he is a smart well-read guy and a good interviewer. He chose interesting guests and allowed them to expand their statements in a long format. Miles was a musical genius who was also an obnoxious person. He was indulged by fellow muiscians in his antics. Great artists are not always nice pepole. John Lennon and Woody Guthrie come to mind. C'est la Vie.
The late great Sir Miles Davis was the epitome of cool. His individual style and music were impeccable. He taught me that it is okay to be different musically. Therefore, I am. 🙏🏽 Rest easy.

Wow!, that's Garth Webber on guitar. That's a old friend of my brother and myself. I know this guy. Have played with him before. I remember when he said he was playing with Miles Davis.
I miss him being in the world (earthly alive) so much. Now Prince is gone too. They did work together and one recording has made the net. But how I miss Miles. I had the great fortune to see him at Westbury, the Pier, and at Avery Fisher Hall. I am so grateful that I did and that I am able tell my daughter about it. Don Cheadle plays him quite well in the new movie. But....... how I miss Miles. Thank you for posting this. Peace and love to all music fans.

I still remember my first time hearing Bitches Brew, my ears and mind were definitely not prepared for what he was trying to say. It went completely over my head. After many listens, it is now hands down one of my most cherished albums ever. Experimental, sprawling, angular, dark, yet it grooves like nobody’s business. The magic that’s created within the interplay of each musician is uncanny and a true sonic journey. Truly one of the most unique, bizarre, and original pieces of art ever created. It opened my mind up to so many other forms of experimental music and all types of jazz.
miles davis is my Hero! without a doubt! he didn't kiss anybody's ass, he revolutionized music 3 times and he didn't turn into a clown every time the camera came on. he lived life on his terms and won.....my Hero!!!!
