I'm a little late to the party. I bought this model last week and now I'm trying to understand the micro adjustment. I read a few reviews on Amazon and some people had trouble with this feature. One person said he returned three of these routers because the micro adjustment was defective. I started thinking the same thing when mine started clicking but I then realized you need to back way off the wheel because that clicking is the end of the adjustment range. It seems to work just fine for me. Yes, I'm glad I still have strong fingers. Anyway, I'm getting ready to do some bowtie/butterfly inlays in wooden bowls. From all the reviews I read, it was either this colt or the Dewalt. I snagged this colt for $107 on Amazon so that helped me decide. Thank you for going through the router's features.
My pleasure, Greg! I personally prefer the Dewalt, but it's kind of likee Ford vs. Chevy. Everyone has their own preference. If you have any future questions, you can always email me (Ryan) at ryan@makeawoodsign.com
This is the router that I use for carving. I don’t use the micro adjustment. And I agree the height adjustment is a bit over engineered and cumbersome. But I have gotten use to it. The lights are great but I still use lights on my cheaters. I always unplug it when not in use, I don’t want them to burn out too quick.
My Dewalt 611 stopped working three months after I bought it, changed the brushes and that didn’t fix it so I bought this one. We’ll see how it works out.
What I have found out is on the micro adjustment, I start turning it first so I know it's fitting right onto the threads right and then as I turn it I tighten it, and it moves a lot easier it doesn't seem like it's cross threading and it moves a lot easier.
You spent a lot of time on Bosch but I am interested in Dewalt. I need to know the the model number as the calibration are in millimetres. Many thanks.
The Dewalt DW611 does have soft start but ramps up a little faster. Both having a 7 amp rating means the Dewalt DW611 running at a slower rpm with the same amperage rating will have more torque to swing larger bits and more aggressive cuts. The switch label stands for the circuit being energized. I = in, O = out. O doesn't mean on.
That’s the router I use. It’s been a good router so far. I put a grounded on/off switch in the outlet, so I don’t have to unplug the route ever time . Instead I just flip the switch.
Aloha Eric... light on tells the users it is pulled in... no light=unplugged... (I'd still double-check... (wink)) * * * IF it's supposed to move but doesn't = WD40... IF it moves and isn't supposed to = duct tape... LOL * * * Good review... any ideas about courdless> OR simply stay away... (grin) * * * Until that time. . .
Thanks for the review. I'll stick with the dwp 611. I also have the rigid and absolutely hate the depth adjustment. That's what I get for being a tight ass. The best thing about the rigid is the on off switch. I have a ways to catch up with You, I have 2 611"s and the rigid. I keep a profile bit in the rigid so I don't have to adjust much.
Well, the bits you need really depend on what you're using them for. I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to do. Shoot me an email and I'll help you out as best I can ryan@makeawoodsign.com
I know you make things, so here is an idea to make you some money (and me happy). Make a dust collection port for that Bosch router so I can hook it up to my dust collection port. It's the only tool I have that doesn't have dust fittings
@@oldave100 I have googled an TONS of people have looked for them. The only way to dust collect with a palm router is to make one for edge forming, but if you could invent a universal edge forming palm/trim router dust portal, you would certainly sell them
Your video's are fantastic, can I ask you what bit do yo use to carve inset letters from 1/2" to 1" and do you sell them, I'm in ireland BTW. Thank you👍
Thank you Gerard... It would depend on the font, but for clarendon, (my normal font) 1/2" inset letters I would use the carving liner. For the 1" the 60 degree. Yes we do sell them. For a quote on international shipping please email vickiwithdavesigns@gmail.com with what you want to order and your postal address. Vicki will figure it out for you and let you know. Thanks again dave your like the father of sign making 😁👍

Hehe, don’t worry about the I/O switch, it’s counterintuitive to many. I think it’s a reference to binary, 1 = on, 0 = off. Thanks for the review!
Thank you for watching and the comment...
Boy, I really liked your review! So detailed. This is the one that I am looking to get and I think it still is despite some of the negatives.
Happy it helped. Thanks so much for watching and please let me know if I can answer any specific questions for you, eric@makeawoodsign.com

That's strange I've had 611 that lasted years....
I just ordered this same kit so this review was very helpful. Thanks!
Happy to help...
Thanks for the test/ review.I bought one 4 mo. ago and have yet to use it.

The DeWalt DWP611 is our favorite corded trim router. It's pretty awesome!
Eric, the sign looks sweet hanging on the wall behind you. I will stick to my 3 Dewalt 611s and my newest toy the Milwaukee M18 cordless.
Thank you my friend... Sounds like you've got a good set of routers...
Thank you again the sign looks good hanging up there
Thank you Barry...
Just found this channel. Love it! Subbed.
Thanks so much. Happy you like what we do. If I can answer any questions for you please let me know, eric@makeawoodsign.com
really like your sign turned out verty nice, use the micro adjustment with the houseing unlocked
Thank you...
Is the black that sleeve wraps around d metal or plastic?
The housing is all metal. It's a well made router

RIght on man. Appreciate the info
Great review, thank you. I have a question. How is the body diameter of the GKF125CEN vs the PR20EVS. Thank you!
Pretty much the same...
@@oldave100 Thank you!...Have a great day!
Bosch.....is the best.🏆
Great little router...
Yep the thing I don't like about the Bosch is the height adjustment. Germans making a simple thing complicated. Love the Makita cordless.
HAHA ya, gotta agree on that one!
Did you use a 2 inch hole saw to put a hole in the back.
Yep that's it....

You'r e welcome Bob...Yea same here on the ridgid. I do like the switch on top as well.
Nice job Eric
Thank you buddy...
Eric love the sign in the background I don't think I'd have the patience to put the gold on though
Thank you Robb. Yeah on the gold leaf I almost didn't, but once I got started I was locked in< had to finish it. Happy I did it...
Just bought one and need to learn what the hell I'm doing. I want to slot for an add-on butcher block section. Trying to figure out those router bits.

LOL... I would say Bookman or Clarendon should work good for that application.
Sounds good, Thank you...
Comfortable until it gets hot. This baby gets pretty warm, so I limit my duty cycle.
I haven't had any problem with it getting hot yet.
I have the Bosch. The depth adjustment is sloppy. I'm gonna get the dewalt.
The dewalt is my favorite because of that....
It’s 90 on Amazon right now hmmmm...
Maybe black Friday sale....
