    Some sound advice here folks. Although, you forgot to mention:
    1) you should use a TT bike with disc wheel, pro level skinsuit and overshoes
    2) leave the saddle bag at home, take off the bottle cages
    3) sacrifice the rest of the ride in order to stay fresh for the segment, i.e. ride at 100w until you get to the segment, then ride so hard that you rip your muscles to pieces then can barely limp home
    Trust me folks, KOMs are what I do.

    Great video, couldn't stop laughing. One strategy that my sensei BHD forgot is that the best way of gaining KOM's is by making some obscure segments that are in areas where not a lot of people ride, or some areas where people usually slow down. For instance, the last 50m of a very steep climb, followed by the next 500m of the downhill, riders will be so caught up in the actual hill KOM that they will not see your KOM.

  • @matt.eggleton
    @matt.eggleton 3 года назад +2

    BHD, you overlooked one of the easiest ways to stack up KOMs. Create your own segments! The best way to ensure dominance and longevity is to create meandering figure-8 style segments in your neighborhood that no one would ever ride. Of course, don't ride hard when riding them the first time, then pick up the pace a tad the second time. BOOM! Another KOM that will never be taken away that you can stack up on your others for your end of year report! Woot! :)

    It is good as a hobby driver to have at least 1 KOM.
    My self-defined Strava segment is over 80 km long and has over 800 vertical meters and many branches.
    Then, when I was over 50, I took my racing bike with top tires, just a large drinking bottle, latex inner tubes and a racing suit. Because only one other cyclist has loaded this segment on Strava in the last 5 years.

    I find the best way to get kudos is to create my own obscure segments that others rarely ride...this makes me the KOM and legit.

      Which is why your bike quiver should include a de-restricted E-bike.

    I have my personal rule for KOM: if you already have a KOM, don’t try improving it! It brings you bad luck. If you try you will hit a car, snap a chain, have a flat tire..

    Thank you for your inciteful tips on how to become the king of Strava. I’ve taken notes on all the few I’m not employing at the moment and hope to take a few more KOMs from you very soon. Regards Rick 🤣

    D-man... I'm commenting after 4mins in... This is why I'm sticking to my simple bike trainer and focusing on HR and Cadence. However, I'm taking your Lifting Science seriously and have up-scaled my home gym. I'm 60 and have high-hopes for 2022 using my Trek Domain-5 . What's Strava? I'm on TP. Thanks Bud!
