- Kento Miyaura Played the Match of His Career Against France !!! Men's VNL 2023. Kento Miyaura (宮浦 健人, born 22 February 1999) is a Japanese male volleyball player from Kumamoto City, on the island of Kyushu. Currently, he plays in PlusLiga for PSG Stal Nysa. He used to be the captain of Japan U-19 national team and Waseda University's club.

Miyaura was back-to-back elected as Japanese national team and went to compete in the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men's Nations League. In the first week, he played as the starting line-up against the United States, which Japan lost in the full set, and he scored 20 points totally.[24][25] In almost the last match of the third week, Miyaura as the starting 6, showed his abilities by led the team won over Germany with 1-3 set count. He also scored the most of the team by 17 points, including 15 attacks and 2 aces.[26]
On August 2, it was announced that he would be playing for Polish club PSG Stal Nysa in the 2022-2023 season.

I dont know why people keep comparing Miyaura and Nishida.
They are both top-notch players and playing their best to thrive Japanese team.
Lets respect that and their sportsmanship.
I totaly agree with you. They are part of the same team and they give their best but some people always compare them. This is really pointless.
It's time to Kento Miyaura to shine. So happy for him. Going to Poland league was really huge improve.
He was so famous as a crazy server and skilled player when he was in high school, his school is one of the strongest (which is actually called tha model of Shiratorizawa from Haikyuu) in Japan and he was actually more valued than Nishida. But while he was studying at university, Nishida got the spotlight with 6 aces in a low in the national team so when he became a pro, there wasn't any position for him. Plus his personality and Nishida are opposite which is so funny.
Hope their development helps Japan in the future.

I did not know this so thanks for sharing! Agree their personalities are somewhat opposite of each other - kento has a calmer more quiet demeanor which i think balances Nishida's, which can be sometimes quite emo and over the top. When Nishida isn't at his best at least japan has a viable opposite that can do as well if not better than Nishida.

I love how Japan team is full of impeccable players... I've always been watching VNL since Nishida is 19,, and he is always the beast he is. Ishikawa is undoubtedly the most brilliant utility of the team, he can do everything inside the court,, but no team succeds without everyone playing in their best.. we have to give credits to Sekita, Takahashis,Onodera, Kento and everyone in the team. also be grateful because Kento delivered brilliantly when Nishida is being checked by opponents,, Give it to these men, 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Many may not know his achievement since U18-U19 and the 4 amazing years at Waseda Univ. Let's celebrate all athletes and stop comparing or putting down the others. We should be glad tp have both Miyaken and Nishida in this generation. They were together in undercat too and always support each other !
Agree! I think nishida is still great. Its just he has been under a lot of pressure to perform at such a young age - he was just a teenager when he was called to the national team. He still has a lot of time to develop his skills and mental toughmess. At least now he has someone who can support him in his positon if he's not performing well.
After watching the Japan vs France match, I couldn't help but burst out "This is Miyaura's season!" Japan was having a bit of trouble against France early on the match, but then Miyaura came in and suddenly you could feel the tide changing in Japan's favor. It is also interesting to note that a big portion of the match was played with Fukatsu as the setter. This match really displayed what other, less frequently seen players from Japan can do inside the court, and against France no less!

I watched the game on TV, and he was absolutely superb. Coming off from the bench and made an amazing impact like that is just Brilliant.
The man is talented. Without taking away anything from Nishida, I feel like Miyaura should be a starter.

The reason why miyaura is effective this season is because top tier teams or almost every team in vbl already studied nishidas Habits and potential in game, im sure each team has a counter plan or blocker rotation on nishida. The reason why miyaura is effective is because he is a completely new enemy for the other team, which was not given spotlight at all, if you watched nishidas form and approach, steps and also arm swing timing, it is completely different compared to miyaura, miyaura tends to delay his spike a little bit to switch off the blockers and when the blockers get his timing he then switch to a faster arm swing resulting to a confusion on timings

Miyaura also played a really good game last year against the US and helped Japan win, I think I would strongly consider starting him if Nishida continues to struggle after the week break.
