I mean, I'm not a player at all, but the fact I can even feel a little of what he's trying to state out there. The last two sets are beautiful game, both side keeps pushing the other one to their limits and stay positive, that side edge ball at 9-9 was wonderful sportsmanship form both of them. GREAT GAME

Xu Xin has never suffered so much FH counterattack blast in a single match. Franziska shows a textbook on how to deal with the most intimidating topspin in the world, and he is the most progressive player in 2019.
I read all other comments just to reach at this one. That is exactly what troubled Xu Xin much and I was pretty sure that Franziska will win, but Xu Xin is mentally so so strong that he kept believing in his topspins and reduced the height of his topspins , which became tough to counter for Franziska, moreover Xu Xin started to play touch shots more often rather than just picking up the ball first until or unless he was able to hit a hard topspin first.

Wow... this is the most exciting match of this open tournament !! For me, this is ths first time to waycj Xuxin expressed sooo much satisfaction after a match. His mentality was so impressive for me, that even if he had been in such dangerous match point, he attacked with his full power without any hesitation. You deserve a victory. Strong mentality, great skills. The handshaking and encouraging scene after a match is so touching .
5 minutes of play even after 6 sets... man I knew I was in for some good stuff. But this was like a final match tbh. Both players displayed top notch level of skills. My stomach was upset earlier but now I am feeling better thanks to this game

Quick Game analysis: Franziska's ball placements were almost accurately perfect throughout the entire game. He managed to surprise Xu Xin in the long rallies with very low, rapid counter spins - Xu xin was put in real pressure. At times, he would spin the ball slower and the Chinese would return short. It was a brilliant strategy to change the tempo of the play from time to time because it interrupted Xu Xin's tempo. Moreover, Patrtick's tactics worked so well that even though he committed some forced errors, he still made it to game 7. What a man! During the first five games, Xu Xin struggled with his ball placement. If you rewatch the video, you will notice that he placed the ball almost always in the middle (I refer to 4th ball placement). He probably was aiming for a cross over point, but this strategy even helped Patrick come back with speedy counters. This dragged til the 5th game. But goodness gracious, Xu Xin came back and nailed a service ace at the onset of game 6. He carried on with this energy to game 7 and finished the match the winner! By the way, his last receive to Patrick's serve was top class! What a game!

Holy moly this is one hell of a war of attrition and clash of tactics. Patrick has improved so much compared to last year when he got beaten badly by Xu Xin. He made lots of top quality shots, especially flat counters and topspin rallies, seeing a European winning against Xu Xin in topspin rallies is so rare. Xu Xin had to make his shot slower, more spinny, even trading his forehand to pushing. Look at Xu Xin feint (14:15) , he used to flick that kind of ball yet he push it back with a sidespin, showing how he actually change his tactics.

Franziska now feels formula to win against top chinese players and top world players as he beat Fan Zengdong. First of all, accuracy must be improved time by time during his career. Otherwise he will be very soon no difference from new other young players. That is why topspin oriented playing in average far distances is one of the most reasonable style for player career roadmap.
