100 percent correct my 08 4Runner manual says you can use moly lithium chassis grease NLGI #2 OR lithium base multipurpose grease,NLGI NO.2 for the slide yoke AND FOR THE SPIDERS lithium based chassis grease NLGI NO.2 SO This grease along with many other brands covers both..it does not say to use moly grease on the spiders probably wouldn’t last as long
Good video. One item I’d correct. Never mix polyurea grease with lithium grease. Doing so can actually be worse than nothing. You can get a reaction between those different greases that creates a rock hard substrate that will destroy the bearing surfaces. Use the type of grease in the video. Do not substitute with polyurea ever.
This, 100% this. If you're going to use Polyurea, you have to strip every last molecule of lithium grease out of the item you're greasing first, but then you can double the service interval. To me, not worth it.
Anybody running Falken Wildpeaks knows his stuff! Glad you only pumped 2-4 pumps on the slip yoke zerts. You can overburden the seals inside these units. Good content on your vids, subbed!
I just did my 4runner with this grease. I also used it on the ball joints. It's a good grease. I did so much research and spent days. It was a nightmare. Lucas red n tacky for the win!
You’re welcome!!! I was fortunate enough to grow up on the farm and wrenching on things so I learned but also realize not everyone was able to learn these things. Happy to help in some small way.
Just did this on my 4Runner today . However, after doing this, my suspension seems a little stiffer and there is clunking between the rear driveshaft and transfer case when I push the car up and down. I only did 2 pumps on the slip yoke.
Ngl I didn’t remove the head shield on the front shafts rear area and that was such a bitch but if you position yourself in the middle you can make it work 😊

Thanks. Good video.
I had a tube of Amsoil Red grease NLGI 2, didn’t even pay attention if it’s Lithium based or just polymer… I hope it works fine 😅

Presuming you have a gen or aftermarket greasable ball joints??? I just replaced my entire UCA this weekend.
Good video! Thanks for giving everyone a definitive answer on the kind of grease issue!
Thanks a bunch Jake, these are just Great Videos for us who love to spend time under the hood & learning more on maintenance with the 4Runner!!!

I noticed you have Ironman suspension! I just got the stage 3 with Freedom UCAs. Amazing setup and rides like butter
How do you torque the propeller shaft?
Does this work for 4th gen 4runner or just 5th gen ???
