I thought the point if a tandoor was that it coukd get significantly hotter than a standard over maximum of 300 c resulting in charring-smokiness? So better to cook at 400-500 range?
Hello Peter! We used to cook at 300-350 d Celsius in order to have juicy, tender inside and crispy outside meal. You always welcome to share your results of experiments on charring in tandoor. We are sure that it will be a great experience!
I bought mine from Amazon and am am actually curing it right now. If you really want your tandoori to last for a long time put a coating of molasses inside the vessel. This way your breads won’t stick to the sides.

Hello! Yeah, we actually did:) You just need to apply a bit of water on the side of the naan dough which will stick to the wall of the tandoor. Then leave them for a few minutes with the lid closed and your delicious naan will be ready.

Inside yes. However the thermometer is showing the outside lining of the unit. The unit acts as an oven. And it takes a very long time for the unit to absorb the heat, as clay is an excellent material that retains heat.
@@PullMyTriggerOKK Oh okay, thanks for the explanation. Would it not be better to monitor internal temp rather than the temp of the external lining (for cooking purposes)
I have the same tandoor. Unfortunately, no matter how many logs I put in, temperature never gets to 280. The best I have achieved is 250 and within 20 minutes, it starts going down. Disappointed with the amount of money and effort spent
Thanks for posting this. Was trying to see the whole picture of the breakdown of a tandoor & how it works. Fully comprehend now👍🙏
Also, great tip with the butane? lighter thing. Will use one to get our pizza oven fires started.
Thank you for watching!
Great video and really helpful, thank you. Our tandoor over arrived yesterday, so can't wait to use it this weekend 😋

I just ordered this Tandoor big enough for 10 people for us two for Christmas. I'm so ecited, My husband has no idea :-)
From where did you order?
Clear instructions
How long does it have to cure before you can stick naan bread to the sides?
Dam that was satisfying, good jams too
Hi! Thanks for the video! How do one clean the tandoor, and how often should this be done?
What this style of Tandoor should called? Really wonder and awesome to see this. I am really fond of Tandoor and like to have this one to place on.
Hello Sehrianwali,
Thank you for your interest.
Its a wood fired tandoor, please see detailed information on our website: besttandoor.ca
Great tandoor 😃WOW!!
Thank you!
If the point of slowly adding firewood is to burn it to the point of being glowing coals, then it would make sense to simply start with lump charcoal.
Thank you
Hello Mattew,
Firewood should be adding slowly because of the first use.
In this case your tandoor will not crack and will last longer.
@@besttandoor6198 Hmm. Fair point.

Your thermometer has to be broken. No way it’s only 50C in side that fiery oven it has to be like 500-600 C

@@southeastcreations1700 if it was inside the the thermometer would break or melt. Temperature reaches 800 degrees fahrenheit inside those things.

1600$ for a piece of clay !!!
The price is not for a piece of clay, its for the hand crafted product, made of clay and wrought iron.
The craftsmanship and knowledge applied to make this beautiful piece of work is what makes it more than a piece of clay.. @lily
