"That's The Joint" is one of my favorite funky rap tracks of all time! It's the joint!
Yes indeed
I'm so glad the funky four is getting their props!

Thank you for documenting my favorite era of hip hop
I remember when this came out I was in elementary school and my teacher taught us the word FAD and its definition, comparing it to "rap", saying it will come and go. I remember feeling so angry and refusing her statement to myself saying that this feeling it gave me will last forever!
41 years later... WE STILL TALKING ABOUT IT!!! ✊🏾
They were calling it a "fad" until 1990!! I remember my freshman year in college campus, I was in a dorm lounge watching Yo MTV Raps and this guy sitting next to me said rap will fade away soon. LOL! Adorable.
An awesome insight on this band I followed from the early 80s
‘Sha-Rock’ is top five most technologically sound MC in hip hop history.
Til this day.
She’s slept on, because she’s a female.
But actually, she was the best MC in the group. 💥💥💥💥💥💥
I was attending elementary Catholic school (2nd grade to 4th grade) during this era, riding on the school bus when these records were coming out. Some kids would ask the bus driver to play these rap cassette tapes borrowed from older siblings. For every rap song the bus driver played, he would play gospel music afterwards the cleanse his pallet I guess!!
Thank you so much brotha Jay Quan for all of ur knowledge and wisdom peace and blessings like Nas said One Love
One person from this era was angie stone. The original angie b. Shes the premier neosoul singee now. Arguably this generations gladys.

daddy o, said that Rakim told a not tell the truth about "It's Not Where ur From but Where ur At". That is the main reason that you can meet other people in different States and find out that they are 'Legit'as well. And that ur from NY, NJ, DC don't bust a grape! And what has he done!!!
Sha-Rock needs to be on "Drink Champs! Let's go!

Hip HOP DONT STOP
The First Generation right here!
Lots of these people was teenagers. They did not know nothing about the music industry. The black elders of the music industry did not protect them at all. Many of them took advantage of their ignorance. This was a great group who should have been much bigger.
Why did everyone leave Enjoy?
As far as Barz Go it was better then Rappers delight
amazing video hip hop really use to be so dope and positive back in the day unlike today's so called rap music that do nothing but degrade themselves and black people 24/7 and constantly disrespect the pioneers of hip hop. I can't stand today's so called hip hop at all is not even hip hop is pop even the beats of today's is very digital and artificial sounded it doesn't have the warmth and rawness like it had way back then everyone nowadays rely beats on a computer is sad.
Totally agree. Thanks for looking
The Foundation you welcome
Yep but try tellin ' these people on thier 20's that. They dont wanna hear it
Abraham Palmer thats the biggest problem with modern rap or hiphop, the beats have no warmth, "oomph", or soul. It's lifeless.
although i disagree about the positive messages argument. The old school was still talking about drugs and sex. They just did it with more skill and talent.
Back on February 14th 1981. On Valentine Day the hip hop group was the appear on national live television and to have a graffiti on back of their clothes.
DJ Baron DJ Breakout
