I'm no scientist but I'd probably go all peter Grant on magic... like seriously, how does it work and what can it teach us about the rules of the universe? can it break the rules of thermodynamics? Or does it work in that framework? I need to know!
Imagine the role in manufacturing, synthesising complex materials and structures reliably, or as a tool of observation for scientific purpose. Or maybe even a synthetic magical intelligence of sorts? Perhaps deny it an actual will, and limit to simple patterns of executing and logging assigned tasks, to prevent magic Skynet being a thing. To that end, you could assign such intelligence to managing resources and projects, or doing complex logic, even developing mathematically ideal end products.
My thought on having to move was that the wizard was going to say “Well, that’s fine, I can just live here instead. Or, since I _can_ be anywhere in an instant, I can just come by, drop some knowledge, boom, out of your hair.”

The problem I’ve reached is the overarching topics that I need the most information on are rarities when it comes to historian research. Not that the era is so far back, but rather there are no reliable first hand accounts anymore... because my good friends the Spanish like to Christianize everything that happens to be heretical. But I’ll definitely check Reddit more for research than I have been.
I just go down RUclips rabbit holes of very eloquent, well-researched and logiced individuals until the topic I originally was only researching becomes one of the many topics of knowledgeable entertainment I consume on RUclips…. If looking for combat and weaponry and general fantasy logic, I recommend Shadiversity. Historically accurate clothing, Bernadette Banner, Morgan Donner, and Abby Cox: general entertaining sewing stuff, Rachel Maksy and Micarah Tewers. And I also just watch a bunch of story analyses channels, which is definitely also research 👀 Any specific topics you looking for?

Specific topics would be like Early Spanish Colonialism, and traditions of Pre Colonial Philippines. The hardest part has been pre Colonia Filipino history since Spain has a fun way of Christianizing things.
