I really don't believe there are ANY MASTER craftsmen/women in America. That's a European designation, and it entails extensive years of experience to achieve. Anyone in America who says they are a Master craftsman or Master anything is just making it up. I simply love carpentry and have spent most of my life trying to improve my work and share those techniques with others. Glad you are enjoying the series!
YES, Steve Phipps was a heck of a craftsman and a wonderful human being. He taught me the quarter/quarter system. I have a table saw setup in my shop dedicated to that.
Thank you, Mr. Katz, for the wonderful tutorial. Recently I watched a RUclips presentation called "Pocket Holes Overexplained," and the need for drilling pilot holes into the board being joined was posited, especially to avoid cracking woods such as poplar and cherry. I am just preparing to create my first wainscot, so I would like to hear your advice before I begin. The prospect of waisting time and money is frightful. What is your expert opinion, please?
Is wainscoting in multiple rooms too much? I’ve done this is my dining room and I’d like to also have it in my living room to hide imperfections on the walls and tie into a fireplace mantle, but I’m being told it’s too much and would make the house look unappealing. Thoughts?
I am up to 20 minutes and all you've done is talk about tools basically. I tuned in to learn about wainscoting. Are you ever going to get to that? I really don't have time for all this. Thanks anyway. 18:51
I happened to be laying out a paneled wall today and came back to refer to this video. Man, what a huge time saver using the calculator the way you demonstrated. Thank you so much Gary, for all the time and effort you've put into teaching, both in your videos and books, both have been a tremendous help to me.
WOW! Four hours with a master craftsman giving out his secrets. Incredible. Thank you Mr. Katz!

Time to take a continuing education day.
I think it will take more than one day. Just sayin' .....

What do you do if you come to a rounded end corner and you want to stop the wainscoting there?
