I watched your video with interest. My wife has a 630 and it has been giving us issues. I have repaired and ultimately replaced the L print power supply and also found an S print this year that was supposed to be a good one. The issue we had was when switched on the machine's display and sewing light would not illuminate. This problem was intermittent as it would at times come on and work fine. When switched off then again would not come on. I have researched as much as I could find about this issue and first replaced all the electrolytic capacitors on the original L print which did seem to help for a while. Then installed the "new" L print and for a while it worked a bit better. Still intermittently at times. A few weeks later it no longer a working display or sewing light. So I decided to install the "new" S print and following the maintenance manual switching the Chip and hoping for a working machine I got no mechanical startup but did get the sewing light and LCD backlight to illuminate. Four of the five LED's on the circuit board illuminated and it is the fifth LED not illuminated indicating the firmware is not loaded or recognized. None of the buttons worked at all. So my long explaination comes to a question. Is there some hope for this machine or does it sound like it is a brick? If you can help it would be much appreciated. PS The "new" S print was in an original box however the seal on the bag had been opened. Same with the L print. Wondering if I was taken for a ride.

I have this machine and the pressure down sensor seems to be faulty. I can still sew by turning off the sensor but I cannot embroider. Is this sensor a control for the machine not to embroider?

Had a message that my hook cutter needed cleaned, when I let down the hook plate, it came out. How does it go back together to insert the bobbin case?

Is it possible to turn off the pressure foot sensor on my 630

Her Arista 630 Displays that the presser foot is not down, when it is down. We have moved 300 miles from where we previously lived and purchased the machine. That dealer is on vacation and the lady tending the shop said that he said to turn the wheel several times and then lower the presser foot. We’ve tried that several times and still have the same indicator indicate that the foot is not down.
Is there anything that we can do to resolve this problem or must we find a local dealer to fix it?

    Hi Joe,
My mother is a pensioner and recently her bernette Deco 340 has stopped embroidering.
It switches on fine and the run light illuminates green but after the design is selected nothing happens.
According to her the light is supposed to turn red and the embroidery should start. She is living of a very small South African pension that she is boosting by doing care as a travelling oxygen therapy nurse (she is a RN) and then also doing embroidery for gifts that people order from her.

Wish I could offer you some advice. Unfortunately the Deco series of machines are ones I have not gotten into working on so I can’t help you with that one.

@@JoeKind1958 I have since spoken to a local technician and according to him the main motor has failed as it is a known weak point. Said motor is also no longer available. I have tried contacting the factory in Switserland and am awaiting feedback.

    Hi great video.
I was wondering if you could sale parts and tools for berninas Sewing Machines? Thanks

Valentin Felix Hi, I am not a Bernina dealer. Just a independent reseller of Berninas who deals with just one dealer. I can only get parts for the machines I purchase from that dealership. I started, many years back, doing all of my own repairs because first off, the Berninas I purchased for resale that were already supposedly dealer serviced. Well long story short, when I tested them out I found problems that were overlooked. Like they say. If you want something done right, then do it yourself.
My videos pass along information that I have learned over the years, information that generally a dealer won’t tell you.
Several of the special tools I needed, I made myself and I don’t have any that I will sell. So it looks like you are stuck going to a dealer and good luck finding one that will sell you parts. Let me know what you are looking for and there might be a slim chance I would have what you need. But most likely you will be at the mercy of a overpriced dealer.
      Thanks for watching!

Thank you so much for posting these videos. I love my 630 but if I were to replace it, which one of the newer models would be the equivalent? Did you say in the video that you also sell machines?

Linda Bee Hi, Yes I sell lightly used Berninas on eBay under the user name bushvideo . Been on eBay doing this for 16 years. I just sold the 630 and 640 I had for sale on that site so as of today I have nothing on. Today I need to pack and ship out a 640. The next model I am servicing right now is a 730. . I just got in a 200 and a long arm 820 along with a couple more 630 and 640 models. I am almost out of room here in this message box. So if you would like to talk about the different models it would be best to email me at JoeKind@comcast.net . Thanks for watching my videos, Bill. (Joe Kind is just my user name)

I looked for your Ebay 'store' and can't find anything called Bushvideo. Can you provide me with a link?

    • @JoeKind1958

Linda Bee My eBay user name is bushvideo. My eBay store name is Bills Sewing Machine Garage. The easy way to find me is to do a web search for "eBay seller bushvideo" and you should see somewhere at the top of the search results "Bills Sewing Machine Garage", that's me. I just sold a few machines on eBay so right now I only have a 730 and a BSR foot listed. Models that I have and need to get on eBay are , 200, 820, 630 and a 640. I also have a few 180's. Unlike some of the other eBay sellers, I am not a mass seller so I only usually have a few items on at one time. You just can't be a mass seller and take care of everyone like you should. I can also be emailed at joekind@comcast.net. Thanks for asking! Bill

Linda Bee Sorry for the delay in answering. I just noticed that you had asked this question... A newer equivalent model to the 640 model would be the Bernina B580. Mechanically the 640 and 580 are the same machines. There were some electronic upgrades with the 580 like a nicer looking touch screen and different looking outside plastic. But when you get down to it, spending the extra to get a 580 if you have a 640 really is not worth it as I don't feel you are really gaining anything for the money you would need to spend. After all, under the cosmetics of the outside plastic on these models, both are exactly the same yet there is a couple thousand $$ difference in price. I am a independent servicer and seller of Berninas. It's best to email me at joekind@comcast.net for any other questions regarding different model Berninas. Thanks for watching! Bill

JoeKind1958 Thanks Bill. I love my 630 and would probably get the same machine if I had to replace it. AND I'd wait for you to have one available as I trust you. 😀

hey joe my bernina artista 640 dash board is blinking and does not runing why?

    • @JoeKind1958
      @JoeKind1958  4 года назад

Tell me what is blinking. If I had to guess I would say you are getting the message that shows the bobbin case. That’s for the lower thread sensor . So the bobbin is either dirty with lint or the bobbin is rotating in the wrong direction in the bobbin case or the black plastic bobbin sensor that is on the inside of the bobbin door has burned out. In that case just turn off the bobbin sensor as they become more of a pain rather than a help. Should there be a thread brake the upper thread sensor will stop the machine.
