Thanks to Jane for a great idea for a video! These products are awesome and deserve to be in your coop/barn. We hope this helps!
Sorry I haven't been watching your videos lately, I have been busy doing chemo and radiation but I'm done with that now. So now I'm waiting for my Pet scan next month to see if the treatment worked. 🤞
Great video! We’re in the middle of remodeling our coop (will put that video up on our Gunsmoke channel when it’s done) so you gave me a few ideas we’ll probably incorporate. Thanks for the suggestions! Hope you guys had a good trip!!
I look forward to seeing the remodel and the ideas you're using. Let us know if we can help in any other way. Cheers Robin!
Great recommendations! Lots of great stuff for chicken owners here! We love a good heated dog water bowl for our girls in winter and our reuseable nesting pads. We have an antique commercial poultry feeder we love. Sadly people are cheap when it comes to waterers and don’t spend for the heated. We haven’t had to deal with mice and flies are minimal for our chickens…the pigs have a ton of flies and we love those fly bags
I bet you've got flies with the pigs. The disposable fly bags are incredible. You might want to give one a try, if you haven't already. Thanks for stopping by Lisa!!
Great tips thank you for sharing what you use! 😊👍❤️
We love all these products and couldn't live with out them. Thanks for stopping by Tammy!
Hi Rich and Hollie! Mrs. Betty and I will be Chicken owners very soon….watching with interest. I’ll come back at the end with a final comment.

QUESTION: Do mice or rats get into the feeder holes? 🤔
I subbed!
Glad you've joined us! We appreciate your support! The feeder is set on 4x4 pieces of lumber. This gets it to the right height for the hens. It also puts it high enough that the mice can't get up to it. It's a great device for feeding without the waste and mice. Thanks again for joining us!!
@@TheOldSwedesFarm Thanks for the reply ☺️💐
Grub Terra is great stuff 👍
GrubTerra is great and our hens love it!! Cheers Phil!
Wow! Rich, this is a great video! I and Mrs. Betty and many others appreciate this! Like those mailbox looking nesting boxes!
The hens love the boxes. Cleaning them is easy with a damp cloth and some light bleach/water solution. You'll love them!
Rich, Mrs. Betty and I are making the BIG move into The Ole Church and onto our 5 Acres this summer. Chickens next Spring….we thank you for your support and wonderful informative videos!
Hi 👋 nice product for chicken 🐔 nice review you have a beautiful farm
These really are great products. Thanks for the nice comments about the farm! We like it!! Cheers!
Thank you, Rich. I’m also from MN and am using your coop for ideas for the one I’ll be building my chickens over the summer. I’m always looking for MN weather approved advice. 🐓 ❤
If we can help in any way, or you want to stop by for an inspection, just let us know! You're always welcome! Cheers!
@@TheOldSwedesFarm I may take you up on a tour!
Great Video.. I need to check into getting some of those nesting pads, I think my ladies would really enjoy them and I love your trash can feeder.
The feeder is a real winner. It is a game changer for us to go on vacation and not worry about having neighbors feed the hens. There is a link to the nesting pads in the description. I bet your girls would love the pads as much as ours. Have a great week!!
Great product suggestions! I am going to ask Kevin to make one of those feeders!!
Those feeders are a game changer! Incredible for keeping down on your work and the hens love it!
Lots of great information as always. Hope you have a great Easter.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you're doing well. Have a great week! Cheers!
Great list! Thank goodness we don't have a mouse issue here. You also reminded me about the meal worm video I still need to do. Wish we would have a broody hen, we are due for some new chicks here soon. Down to 10.
We got rid of our broody girls. We just raise the chicks separate from the other hens. We might get some more chicks this spring. Cheers Jen!
We have the exact same brand of mouse catcher. Difference is that our’s has a clear lid so we can see if we caught any mouse. Let me just say….game changer!!!! And safe to use.
We invested in Grandpa’s Feeders. I wish we bought the large one, but we have 2 small ones. It’s a treadle feeder that keeps food inside, keeps the food dry, and keeps rodents out. It’s expensive on the front end, but has saved us so much money in feed. Plus, I don’t worry about a mouse pooping in the food. Mice are an issue with the field next to it.
The clear lid would be really cool. It's amazing how many mice can fit inside. I'll check into that feeder. I love our design. No waste and no mice in the food. Cheers Glenda!
Have you seen our Farmer Brad Automatic chicken waterer that you can refill automatically with a garden hose?
We have not. We're so happy with what we've got and it's worked incredible for years. For a good chunk of the year, garden hoses and unusable for us!
Thanks for the info! I'm definitely going to try that outdoor fly trap this spring and summer. I've been using a heated water bowl during the winter but I like your heated water container better because it looks like it holds a lot more water.
The fly traps and the fly killer are great! The water heater holds three gallons and it's never frozen for us (to -26f). Glad this helps!!
Good video Rich!!!!
Thanks for stopping by to watch Matt! Have a great week!
The electronic bug zapper works, I have one. But it freaks my dog out so much he won’t sleep all night. As soon as I plug it in he knows so I wonder if there is an electric sound he can hear that we can’t. My dog is mellow and not skittish, but this fly killer was like taking your dog to a fireworks display.. I used the thing twice and had to give up on it. The zapping is so loud and crazy it might have an effect on the serenity of the chickens.
I have watched the chickens while it is going off (early evening and late at night). They are OK with the sound and they don't bat an eye. Maybe there is a sound within the bulbs that disturbs your dog. The sound is loud but I know when those bugs are dying!! Cheers Pam!
Great list. You have a rat catcher solution? I just saw one run out of the duck house last night.
Yuck! I saw one but haven't seen it since. I don't have a solution and I'm not so sure mine didn't just disappear. If you come across a solution, let me know. Cheers Lisa!
I'm from Tanzanian I need to build a farm but I Don't know where to start
I guess you'd have to buy some property (or rent). Then decide what you want to do. I know nothing about Tanzania and the laws, weather, etc. You would do good to find a local expert of a farmer in your area. They could help you better and have more local experience. Good luck with your farm!
Do the mice get into the chicken feed with it raised up off the ground like that?
It's far enough off the ground and we've never had mice in the feeder cups. It works really slick.
