The Oscars seem like they were so much better in the 50's and 60's. They're over rehearsed and often dull now.

Herschel McCoy was from Meridian, Mississippi, and his mother and my grandmother were friends. When Herschel moved out to Hollywood to become a costume designer, he took his mother with him, and later, in the early 40s, my grandmother went to visit and took my mom, who was 9, and they stayed with the McCoys for several months. He made beautiful dresses for my mother and took her to the studios and movie premieres. I have her autograph book from her time in Hollywood, and it’s worth more to me than a box of gold. There isn’t much information about him, but he is listed on IMDb. He was nominated for Oscars twice, and died fairly young.

Somebody was thinking ahead in '51 and '52, with all those movie people there, you'd think they would have done all the following years in color.

Anche IL GRANDE CARUSO concorse per i costumi nel 1952 oltre che per la colonna sonora con la voce straordinaria di Mario LANZA.
