Paul talking about it doesn't guarantee a ring.. Nothing guarantees you a ring (Unless you're KD going to a 73-9 team that won already). But the point would be to have a much better opportunity to get one and allow the Lakers to have some pieces on his way out

My perspective on taking less is that, If you have 100s of millions in your bank and you ain’t willing to take less to chase championships. Than where is your heart at? Your showing your fans it was never love of the game. I ain’t saying Lebron should take a MLE. But if he took half what he was worth just to accommodate an extra guy. It is a good gamble and it’s a good look with fans. I hope Rudy and Kat have similar thinking and we can somehow keep this whole gang together in Minnesota. It’s about the game first. You 2nd. This talking point should be discontinued and completely buried, it’s bad business practice to take less than the market is willing to pay for your service. Players aren’t being paid hundreds of millions over 5 years for a championship, the business of basketball is far bigger than a ring. It’s about the TV deals, the local TV deals, selling out games, blowing up the merchandise, brand impressions and views. If you can increase the value of a franchise and raise the overall net worth of a billionaire than they’re going to offer you what you’re value is within the rules, championship be damned. If there wasn’t a salary cap, Bron would have gotten a crazy contract like Shoehai Ohtani in baseball. NBA superstars are already undervalued.

I think that LeBron’s career is already solidified enough that another title only contains a push for his GOAT status for #1 over Jordan because he’s doing it so late in his career. It creates a better position for his playing career in the all time great conversation.
