Hi Mark, a great start to your monthly podcast! Very interesting to hear how to start in the business. I'm glad this is the start of a series. Congratulations on your ever-increasing subscriber count too. Very best wishes as always. Sarah 😊
I personally just buy weird, interesting, unusual stuff I like, I regularly get told you have the weirdest stuff (usually a different four letter word after weirdest) to which I reply "That's a compliment". My advice is have fun, josh with the buyers, keep a stall that looks like it's just survived an earthquake and don't price anything...
What a great video I took a risk the other day as I hate selling at car boots because I think they should let sellers set up first people swooping around as soon as you park does my head in so I decided to do a yard sale with stock that was hanging around I was nervous but I didn't advertise online just stuck a sign up on drive at 8am by 10 i had quite a few people on drive and sold a lot of stock will try again didnt ask silly prices just enough for a profit I am still nervous about doing a flea stall can i ask about your accounting do you do yourself or employ accountant or something like quick books also i have had good weeks and very bad weeks thinking about getting part time job 2 or 3 days a week just for a boost
Hi - Thanks for your interesting and informative comment. I agree with everything you say. I have a routine for setting up at flea markets and car boots, one tub at a time so I can keep an eye on the 'problematic' buyers. Also, no-one is allowed behind the table. Great idea to do your own yard sale. Where approx are you based? Over many years of buying and selling I have developed my own accounting spreadsheet that I keep up to date on a weekly basis. It produces reports and also a summary sheet that goes to my accountant at the end of the financial year, along with the paper records. I think in the current financial situation taking a part time PAYE job for a predictable and regular income is a very good idea, nothing wrong with that if it takes a bit of pressure off. Let me know how you get on. Regards, Mark 😁👍

Hi Sarah. Thanks, plenty more podcasts on the horizon if this one is reasonably successful.
@@antiquescentral I'll keep my fingers crossed for you 😊

Definitely agree with you. I try to keep smiling and have a laugh with the buyers but some days it's more difficult than others 😁👍

It's worth taking a friend to help out, two pairs of eyes at a car boot is obviously better than one.
