Apparently there's a bit of silence in this video I forgot to edit out. I'm going to pretend it doesn't exist 😅 (It's a moment of silence for all the people that haven't accepted Purki into their heart yet. Let's go with that)
It's more than 3 Minutes, it has Pre-Chorus; a singing Two Part Chorus; Bridge; and an Outro? in 2024? Seriously this is rare, and i'm sure it's in my SOTY nominees! Thanks for reacting to them!
I've been with PK ever since their debut with Ponzona. I'm not worried about "numbers" or lack or wins. As long as PK keeps putting out bops and bangers, I'm happy.
They deserve so much they're always killing it! The thing that always worries me about groups that aren't getting the attention they deserve is disbandment, that's always the one thing I don't ever want for any group, I feel like they all deserve a chance to shine, that's why I'm always wishing for purple kiss to get more popular, not even to a extremely high level like a mamamoo or g-idle but just want them to be doing well enough they're very talented and they really do deserve that recognition. And tbh my ult group Dreamcatcher were killing it and never got their first win for 5 years, Deja Vu didn't get it, scream didn't get it, all their biggest songs never got them that win until Maison, so I think hopefully Purple Kiss can still get that first win at some point. (I didn't really care too much about music show awards and all that but I remember seeing dreamcatcher's reaction when they won it and how much it meant to them, and that gave me a whole new perspective on it)
That's one thing I hope they do realize though -- that their effort is appreciated and their fans truly love their work. I hope that can be validation enough rather than music show wins that the same names always win. I understand that culturally it's different though and they do want that first one. It's why I don't give a damn that X group got win #3747. I'd prefer someone get their 1st.
I was worried about disbandment too, but I think RBWs approach over the last year or so (particularly the small scale tours and reduced budget) suggest they’ve pivoted to a long term strategy that accepts Purki aren’t going mainstream without giving up on them as a group. Purki themselves have said things that make me think they have too. They’re more like a typical working band that makes just enough to keep going than a kpop group haha.
Pre-Debut here!!! I have loved them from the beginning! I love their rock songs something serious but I I'm a R&B head so Can We Talk Again will always have a special place in my heart!
Love this comeback💜 13:46 I instantly became a fan of them when I discovered them, youtube recommended me their Bside 'T4ke' and then I listened to all their music
Thank you for your reaction! I've been following Purple Kiss since Zombie and I agree, as long as they keep making music, I'm happy! Sure, getting them their first, getting a lightstick, a full length album etc would be great. But you can lead a horse to water but you can't force it to drink. If people insist on sleeping on Purple Kiss, what can we do? I just hope the sales will be enough to get some more great tunes from them :) (and great tunes we've gotten, the whole album is AMAZING and probably my fav Purple Kiss release ever!)
Yeah I feel the same way and totally agree with your intro there. I'm honestly getting tired of that whole talking point on social media. Sometimes they even go further as saying "Look my group is the biggest victim in the kpop history because they're not as popular as these X Y Z super megastar group, etc."
I knew you'd love this comeback the second I saw your thumbnail for it. It's really neat to see OGs who have been passionate about PK since pre debut. Great points in the video. Yeah like everyone has said, as long as Purple Kiss keeps being able to do what they love (create amazing music and performances) which in turn is what the fans love from them as well, then I'm satisfied. Also lol at the silence, I was wondering myself what it was but I just factored it to silent disappointment that there were no ENG Subs yet. (They weren't there on release hopefully they are now, or will be soon.)
1:00 I completely understand your point, Im more or less the same... the problem is that historically kpop has been a lot more volatile with is smaller groups. Thats why fandoms tend to be vocal and defensive. But I agree people need to spend more time focused on the positives.
Thank you again for promoting and supporting Purple Kiss. You mentioned the "best music" I've posted this before but there are many professional, skillful, musicians, many who would never follow a K-Pop band, mainly because it's mostly a rehashing of the same thing over and over and over>That said many musicians follow PK because they are so musically compelling, not to mention stellar performers in all other respect. The fans of K-Pop don't seem to notice or care but what seperates Purple Kiss from the melting pot is their musical acumen is superior to almost any other K-Pop band. They always play with creative and interesting harmonies, they are all-in with all aspects of their performance not to mention their clear love and appreciation for Plory. For musicians, me included, nearly all K-Pop, musically speaking is Sardines and Balogna while Purple Kiss is Kobe Beef and Atlantic Lobster. On a purely musical level and ulltimately that's the point, they are at the very very tippy-top ot the chart.. I really wish the average fans could appreciate what Purple Kiss is delivering. Sorry for the rant...Thanks again for the video KpopPrince. Oh, I almost forgot, with respect to your point about them getting the recognition that they deserve, I'm wishy-washy about that. I would love to see them reap some financial rewards for the immense amount of care they take with their music and thir performances and their fans , so on that side I would really love to see them explode.. On the other hand K-Pop fans are fickle, they may be wildly supporting (place top-tier name here) but in a Year or a Month or a Week they will be on to someone new. Plory will ALWAYS be Plory because we can see, and appreciate, what the fickle fans cannot...Purple willl always have their fans and that is in some ways a mark of success. It is certainly a mark or their incredibly impressive talents. Ta-Ta
I 💯 miss PurKi's horror/camp concepts, but I get why they (or RBW) would want to branch out. I would like to see a return to alternating between horror/creepy vibes and cute-campy horror. My dream though is finally getting a full album and an official (non-tour specific) lightstick. 😊 I've been with them since the beginning and saw them live last year... didn't get to this year bc I had to choose between them or XG... and I get the feeling XG is gonna be increasingly more difficult to see in the years to come, so I had to make sure to check them off the list now while I still could 😂 EXCELLENT live performers btw, if you have the chance to see them, take it! If you want a harder kpop-adjacent rock song/mini-album, check out NCT Yuta's solo debut. 🤘 Screamo Yuta did soooo good!
Numbers are "more" important in kpop where a single CEO/board can just press a button and boom your group is gone. It would be being delusional to think that just release good music is enough in this industry. I adore Purki to death and a little more success, just a tiny bit would put my mind at ease for sure. As for your question, i'm here since the beginning individual teasers MHSAB,etc... i'm literally the person behind all those early Purki requests on both your YT channel and Patreon 🤣
It's impressive and so disappointing that they are old enough and talented enough to have performances at awards shows like the MAMA and it just doesn't happen. 😢
Yesss, I love this release from Purki! Their vocals are vocaling, the choreo is cool, and the song is catchy. I don't like to pigeonhole any group, but I do loooove when Purki does dark/spooky concepts. The bsides are also great! btw, I'm not sure if you're aware, last month ONEWE released title track Off Road w/ two excellent bsides as well; I'd love to see you react to it!
It is strange with Purki. It seems like they were super anticipated right up through debut. I saw an interview article where they said they had changed their sound for the last two comebacks to chase popularity but decided to go back to their original vibe going forward. They chose On My Bike from fifty songs they were offered. I agree I want good music more than good numbers. I've been a fan of groups in the past who released something unusual for them, got a hit and never went back. I loved the original, bluesy, Fleetwood Mac much more than the pop group they became when they were uber-popular.
I mean, I agree, I love their new album, it's pretty much one of the best in 2024, and I don't really care about the numbers that much either, but it's still hard to see when PK can't sell 1000 albums in the 1st day. RBW just don't want to promote their artists anymore.
@@KpopPrince Yeah. I don't expect much, I mean, I'm an OG Mamamoo fan, but RBW don't even do the bare minimum anymore. Fans promote their faves better. And it's not even about the money, social media is free. Anyway, I'm not afraid because RBW never disband groups, they just don't spend much money on them.
I think I became a fan around the Nerdy era, but the first song I heard from them that got me instantly hooked was Zombie. That was followed by maybe a week of sleepless nights binging all of their shows - exactly the same sensation I felt when I first discovered mamamoo xD
I've been a Plory since before we were even Tulips. I think I started with the intro trailers in the fall of 2020. My only regrets with this release are no intro vid and no lore. RBW is a business and how popular the group is affects how much money they can spend on them. I love everybody's performance in this. Swan just keeps getting hotter.
Please react to more DPR Ian! Like the Miito Movie, the Dear Insanity era MVs (Peanut Butter & Tears, So I Danced, Don't Go Insane) and Limbo. But I wanted to specially request Skins. As you maybe already know Ian is making a storyline based on his life dealling with bipolar disorder and DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder). Besides Ian himself, there are three main "characters" in this storyline: Mito, Mr Insanity, and The Hybrid, though these aren't just characters. Mito and Mr Insanity are real people who have a mind of their own called "alters" (short for alternate state of consciousness) that he coexists with. They alternate being in control of the mind and have different memories, voice tone, body language, beliefs, motives, etc. DID forms because of severe and/or repeated early childhood trauma particularly before 5 years old. As a coping mechanism, the mind of the child unconsciously creates a "new person" that could deal with the trauma for them or otherwise it would be unbearable. That person was Mito. This prevents the child's mind from fully integrating into one whole identity and instead it becomes multiple distinct identities. A child struck by trauma is like a broken mirror and each fragment, each alter, becomes its own mirror and functions separately but all pieces together complete the whole mirror, their whole 'system' (how someone with DID may refer to themselves). The cover of Ian’s first EP, Moodswings In This Order, has his picture behind a shattered glass and the physical version of the same album has a broken mirror on the inside. Ian is the identity who stays the longest in control ('the host') and Mito is the 'protector alter'. When under stress that can evoke similar feelings from their traumatic memories, Ian blacks out and Mito takes control (he's the one 'fronting') to protect the host. There's also co-fronting, more than one alter in control at the same time. Ian then will come back hours, days, weeks later not remembering anything that took place. The longest he has been out was a month. Basically his life has been lived and he doesn't know how. Now about Skins, this song is about Mito's thoughts about being this figure for Ian all this time. It's basically a letter from Mito to Ian. Ian came back after a 2-day black out and found the song written and produced, the video already done all by Mito (you can find him talking about it at the 231128 and 231129 IG Live). It is the first time that Ian allowed himself to show to the world Mito's true feelings and not just how Mito is through Ian's eyes. Mito is usually shown as a dark, almost mythical/villainous figure that Ian repels and can't accept as a part of himself. This is probably because in DID protectors (Mito) can also punish the hosts (Ian). In real life, Ian until now doesn't know what trauma is the root of his DID, only Mito does. Mito in order to protect Ian usually punishes him if he ever goes looking to know about the trauma. As a child, this serves as a protection mechanism so they can block their traumatic experiences from their memories. Skins in a way feels like the humanization of a "villain" by giving him a voice. Ian choosing to release a 100% Mito creation instead of burying it was an important step towards their relationship and acceptance as parts of a whole system. Thank you if you've read all of this! I just think he's very brave for choosing to be vulnerable and expose this side of his and giving representation for people who suffer from similar disorders (like myself). I'll look forward to more reactions!
