    This highlights the problem I have with Google's AI stuff, it always seems promising but winds up being "not exactly." It would be interesting to contrast this with the new Claude Projects. Thanks for doing this, though, as I really appreciate knowing how all these tools might apply to my workflow, even if they aren't quite there yet. I appreciate how thoroughly you go through the functions and use cases.

    Very interesting. I tried the new Claude Projects, seems to be similar except that Claude Projects will not remember the context after you close the chat. The history is there but you can’t pick up the conversation again later.
    NotebookLM seems to be useful like a database with easier access for information retrieval.
    Thanks Jason for all of your hard work. You have got me addicted to Novelcrafter too.
    Keep up the great work!

    As with any relationship one has with someone that doesn't speak your language. you are learning how to converse. each of you learns how to communicate better the more you communicate.. so this is awesome.. I am sure this will be 100% upgraded as this will be amazing for Teachers , students and researchers.. I spent 10 years researching for a college Professor back in the days of Card Catalogs.. THIS.. THIS is amazing information and a huge leap forward for people that will be coalescing information to write papers on. for NonFiction writers this will be awesome as well.

    Thanks for doing this rundown! Notion has a similar AI function which I’ve been testing out on the story bible for my new series. It does similar things like not getting someone’s description, even though I have it clearly labeled. Seems like the models aren’t quite there yet, but when they do it’ll be a great tool, especially for longer series.

    What’s the best platform that’ll let you feed your novel and spit out a summary of it? A story that is significantly more complex than a save the cat format.

  • @thelogoth
    @thelogoth 11 дней назад

    The only thing it does really well it seems is scan PDFs. I tried half a million similar apps and websites, this is one of few that was able to take a complex PDF (in terms of text layout) and was able to grab all the core deadlines literally a few seconds after uploading. Most other websites found some of the deadlines, but this thing found everything. And it was a pdf over 100 pages as far as I remember.

    I'm curious how this compares to Claude 3.5. You can upload documents and have it summarize as well. Is one better than the other?

    • @KC_79
      @KC_79 Месяц назад

      When you upload documents to Claude, the TOTAL tokens is up to 200K. The NotebookLM can have a total of 50 sources and each source can have up to 500K tokens. The difference between them is like when you ask Claude a question, it will read the whole book and answer you, but for NotebookLM it will search relatable keywords, and based on all keyword's sourrdening text, combine them and provide you the answer, which mean it might miss some fine detail due to it didn't read the whole thing.

    I've used it for about a year. I don't find it particularly effective for anything to do with fiction primarily because you can't rename a saved note. So you end up with a whole board of saved notes that are all titled saved note.

      As a storyteller I am paranoid at this point with my work. Every time I turn around the story or main detail of my story ends up in a movie or another major plot line by another source. Yeah even the large context windows of Claude aren’t great for this. The best way to do it is to go chapter by chapter and generate a structured breakdown of the chapter, then feeding THAT into the AI as a story bible.
