Hi..12000 per person is fine for Har ki doon since it is a long trek..even when you go solo with guide you will have to pay for his per day charge, home stay charge at Osla village and Har ki Doon and bring your own food which will be more or less the same budget so i suggest you skip this hassle and go with a trekking group..there will hardly be a diffrence of 1000 or 2000 in solo and group...but if you want you can contact Mahendra bhai from Sankri , he is a local guide and i did HKD with him only: 9411398706, 9456571164

It should not be a problem but you will definitely need permit which you can get at Sankri.. worst case if you don't get permit to do go solo for some reason just take a local guide from Sankri, take permit on his name and take him along.. he will help you with your trek.
Good question...agar solo ja rhe ho to raaste mein do villages padhte hain Ghangar and Osla waha homestay mein stay kar sakte ho...agar tent lena hain to Sankri mein hi milega uske baad muskil hain Osla ya Ghangar mein Tent mile..isliye Sankri se hi rent pe le sakte ho tent
If you have your own tent then you can go without guide because stay at Har Ki Doon point Rest House is sometimes available and sometimes not..As far as permit is concerned you need to take permit either on your own name or a local guide's name..you can check that at Sankri.. if possible take permit on a local guide's name and go without the guide
Hey Vinay..Yes you can very well do this trek on your own without any guide..Path till Har ki Din is well laid out and there are villages (Ghangar and Osla) on this trek where you can stay even if you don't have your tent..There is a forest rest house at Har Ki Dun top where you can stay or pitch your tent as well.

Once you reach Taluka after that nobody's gonna ask you anything..It's at Sankri they might ask for Permit.
