After hearing the intro riff, you immediately picked up a guitar. That right there is Dimebag's legacy
Dimebag is the reason I love guitar and heavy metal
Dimebag Darrell was the reason why I started playing guitar. After I heard the floods, I fell in love with guitar and Pantera. Now Dimebag Darrell is my all time favorite idol guitar god!
Dimebag made me fall in love with music, had a custom bass made to look like his V. Still visit his grave yearly.
came to the comments to say this exact thing. Dime's influence to metal is immeasurable. I still believe he is the best to ever do it.
Dimebag Darrell, (guitarist) asked Eddie Van Halen to make him a guitar in Eddie's way, with the stripes. Eddie declined. At Dimebag's funeral, Eddie put his actual guitar from the Van Halen 2 album cover in Dimebag's casket to be buried with him. The respect every guitarist had for him was tremendous.
RIP Dimebag, Vinnie, and Eddie.
I didn't know that! That's epic on a whole other level. Gotta love the respect shown.
I actually wanted to recommend Van Halen "Hot For Teacher" since the drums and guitar are insane on that song, as well. It hits hard and it runs fast. Great energy in a song.
The guitar was Bumblebee.
@@sportsmom165
Yes, black and yellow!
I always thought that he was going to make it but never got to before Dimebag died
I really hope that his grave is protected from the stupid people who will try to get that priceless guitar!!! Crackheads would do anything for drug money.
cemetery gates is one of the most beautifully constructed pieces in metal and maybe in music ever. dime , vinnie we miss you 🤘
Cemetery Gates and Hallowed be thy Name are absolutely gorgeous pieces of metal.
RIP Dimebag, he made that guitar scream. I’m so glad I got to see Pantera live. This is the short version of the song, I think I’ve always preferred the longer version. The longer one starts slow and builds, a build up that is almost nails-on-the-chalkboard nerve wracking. You should definitely check it out. Love the reaction, you should *always* dance. Music is supposed to make you move and honestly I can’t say mine wasn’t the same when I saw them live. Mosh pits are a thing for a reason. Always good to see someone who just appreciates music for music’s sake. And you words about it being a state of mind? Chef’s kiss 💯. ❤️ (check out their cover of Black Sabbath’s Planet Caravan.) ps: you’re reaction to Phil and Dimebag’s pair up at the end? Awesome. Didn’t think eyes could get that wide and not fall out.)
I always like the demon knight soundtrack edit of this song
Saw them live twice. No one can take those memories away. R.I.P Dimebag.
You know they would be touring right now bro shits sad
Me too!
RIP Vinnie Paul too... saw them in concert early in their career, Ozzfest. Dime is legend, but Vinnie's beats brought the "violence", man could tear up some skins!
Love Pantera. This song is about two friends the singer, Phil, had when he was a kid. They committed suicide. He wanted to write a song about that experience, but he felt like it would be disrespectful to write about them, and it wouldn't be a song people would want to listen to, so he wrote a story from the perspective of a guy who lost the girl he built his whole life around. It's more accessible and relatable that way. Its about learning how to live after suffering such a big loss. Phil's been through some shit in his life and he's really good at writing emotional stuff because it comes from experience. His vocals are insane, too. Dimebag is a guitar god. Rex on bass and Vinnie Paul on the drums are holding it down. They're all on another level, and together, they were something else. They pushed each other to be the best they could be, and, as it turns out, when they do their best they kick everyone's ass. :) Listen to A New Level, Yesterday Don't Mean Shit, I'm Broken and Revolution Is My Name.
Thank you...Has to be one of The top 10 best comments Ever...You definitely stuck the landing...
Thank god, someone who explains the actual meaning behind the song based on what Phil has explained, and not “it’s about Phil wanting to kill himself just to be with his girlfriend in the afterlife”
Best comment ever.
You forgot my demons be driven. And shedding skin
I know the first one is off I’m bad at song titles 😂
All four were rock gods…..hands down. The Abbott bros especially, were some of the coolest blokes you’d ever meet! They’d party with total strangers, but somehow made them feel like part of the gang? Their drinking stories and fan interactions are legendary. Miss them dearly!
You kept saying “He can sing!” Throughout the video and I just kept saying “Just wait…”
Never apologize for allowing the music to reach your soul. That’s what good music is supposed to do. There’s a lot of rock that does that for me and there are some rap songs that do the same (not on the same level but still). Never apologize for that.
This song is straight 🔥
Phil’s vocals in this with Dimebags guitar playing is just magic
The drummer (Vinnie Paul) and The guitarist (Dimebag) were brothers. And IMO the greatest guitar/drum combo. Period.
Where do you rate Eddie and Alex in comparison?
@@lawrencejoy2256 2nd, behind Dime and Vinnie
Very different, but Greta Van Fleet is mostly brothers and they’re incredibly underrated.
Weird af.
But great musicians
Jojo, that you're able to hear those things and appreciate them in Rock/Metal, when you're mainly used to listening to Rap, says a lot.
That’s a very perceptive statement
One of the greatest Metal guitarist , that was Dimebag . He was shot dead in a live performance on stage in Ohio in 2004.
There is a Behind the Music about it. So awful! RIP Dime and Vinnie! We miss you.
2:10 - When you jumped at the beginning of the song I started laughing so hard! Welcome to Pantera.
I watched my husband while he watched your reaction to the song’s ending. He smiled almost like a dad watching his kid take their first steps. It further impressed him that you could hear that the singer was matching the guitar. This is the only Pantera song I have ever heard (though I have heard it several times while watching reactions to the video. The singer’s vocal range is amazing and the guitar player is second to none). My husband absolutely loves this band. It was rather beautiful just seeing the look on his face watching all your reactions. He looked proud of you.
I'm jealous beyond words. I would do anything to experience hearing and feeling those albums for the first time again. Arlington T.X. will never forget. PANTERA is in our d.n.a.
I truly appreciate your views. It’s ok to have a “type” of music to listen to. Yet don’t limit yourself! You live in a time that you can listen to anything that the world has to offer. I’m older than your dad, so I’m from a time you had the radio, or music you bought. You picked music in the “record” store by album art and song titles. As a teenager MTV came about and gave us a fantastic look at music for 15 years 😂
I love Pantera. I’ve seen them several times.
spitting gospel like a preacher, you're absolutely right about that, it's so much easier to check out new music these days, i think some take that for granted.
Dimebag made that guitar talk, he made it scream. Sadly his life was cut short when he was murdered on stage infront of his brother during one of his own concerts with their new band Damageplan. A band called Black Label Society did a tribute video called In This River, check it out.
You asked if these guys are well-regarded musicians. I can assure you, Dimebag is regarded as a legend in the metal guitarist pantheon, and you heard Phil's voice - it's pretty well regarded as well! And the rest of the band are no slouches - Pantera were groundbreaking and technically awesome!
it is about loss and regret and agony.
Reverend, reverend
Is this some conspiracy?
Crucified for no sins
An image beneath me
Lost within our plans for life
It all seems so unreal
I'm a man cut in half in this world
Left in my misery
Reverend, he turned to me
Without a tear in his eyes
Nothing new for him to see
I didn't ask him why
I will remember
The love our souls had sworn to make
Now I watch the falling rain
All my mind can see now is your
Well, I guess you took my youth
And gave it all away
Like the birth of a new-found joy
This love would end in rage
And when she died I couldn't cry
The pride was in my soul
You left me incomplete
All alone as the memories now unfold
Believe the word
I will unlock my door
And pass the cemetery gates
Sometimes when I'm alone I wonder aloud
If you're watching over me
Some place far abound
I must reverse my life
I can't live in the past
Then set my soul free
Belong to me at last
Through all those complex years
I thought I was alone
I didn't care to look around
And make this world my own
And when she died I should've cried
And spared myself some pain
You left me incomplete
All alone as the memories still remain
The way we were
The chance to save my soul
And my concern is now in vain
Believe the word
I will unlock my door
And pass the cemetery gates
The way we were
The chance to save my soul
And my concern is now in vain
Believe the word
I will unlock my door
And pass the cemetery gates
Gates
Gates
I liked this video on the intro. You have such a great understanding and open mind to music. That's so nice to see for an old timer like me that thinks 95% of todays music is complete trash. Much respect to you Jo Jo. Keep going. Love your videos!
Never apologize for the music that hits you. I love music from Metal (my primary) goth, industrial, Rap, hip hop, new wave, indie, pop. Whatever you like is what you like. Good music transcends our preconceived boundaries of genre we are "supposed" to like.
Keep it up, love the content.
You have a very deep incredibly talented rabbit hole to dive into here, there are no bad Pantara songs, the deaths of the brothers is still heartbreaking, they are a unique band, the kept thrash alive for another generation, as much praise as they receive, instead of the Big 4 it should be Big 5 right along with Metallica, Mega Death, Slayer, Anthrax, Pantara. We miss you Darrell, and Vinnie💜
There are NO bad Pantera songs and I swear that doesn't happen in rock or metal pretty much EVER. AC/DC can boast that, Metallica can't 🤗💯
I wouldn't call Pantera thrash though, and when they were the Big 4 they were all thrash bands,
@@armlegx They felt more like thrash than Anthrax did to me, Pantara came around during a dry phase, I guess? Sepeltura was another good one, and Lamb of God too, 82 to 92 was a sick era💣😎
@Mark E yeah pantera industrialized groove metal, although cowboys from hell(album) is pretty thrash and they have some thrashy songs from every other album.
DIG DEEPER INTO PANTERA! 🤘 they are amazing musicians! My favorite band just because I found a cassette tape of the album Cowboys From Hell.
I 💜 seeing young people enjoy the music 🎶 that I grew up listening to.
Music is timeless, especially when it makes you FEEL something.
Dimebags guitar made a girl feel the opposite of sad ,and combined with Phil's singing, and Vinnie's drums 🥁
Chef's kiss ❤️🔥
Pantera and many other metal bands have grooves that go as hard or harder than most rap songs. Pantera is known for their nasty grooves.
No one can play like Darrell Abbot (Dimebag Darrell) R.I.P. Dimebag Darrell!!!
And also to Vinnie! Legends.
I wear my razor blade necklace every day with pride - forever stronger than all
@@siduri9522 Vin and Dime were friends of mine. Two of the best guy's you could ever know. It's still hard to know their gone.
You feeling your soul you rock out you move you dance. That is what rock and roll and metals all about.
I enjoy watching your videos.
all of them are legends, as is this band. RIP the Abbott Brothers-Dimebag Darrell on guitar and Vinnie Paul on drums, both gone too soon, Dime tragically murdered on stage during a performance and Vinnie Paul to natural causes. Rex Brown on bass and Phil Anselmo on vocals, both still alive and rocking.
Don’t forget about Rex on bass. Pantera wouldn’t sound like Pantera without him.
Welcome to the rock/metal family. There’s so much to love here. I’ve been a Pantera fan since 1990
Lol, the shock and dismay on this young mans face says it all. Welcome to Pantera bud.
In every genre there are gems and when we lose our musical prejudices we open and expand our minds and grow as musicians. The guitarist and the drummer were brothers and only brothers can get that tight!
My favorite metal band of all time! Your face at the end was absolutely priceless! I say this song is a duet between Phil Anselmo and Dimebag's guitar 🖤 Great reaction JoJo
Pantera is from my town. Arlington/Fort Worth Texas. 💪🏻
Yeah yeah, but they feel more like they're from Houston, so I'll claim them.
It’s amazing to see how Dimebag still inspires people to want to play the Guitar. You see how fast he got up and grabbed his axe! He was like “if I could play this thing, I’d make it sing like Dime!
RIP Dimebag Darryll…. Your murder was too sad and you were taken from us far to soon 😢
This was the first thing I heard by Pantera, and 13 year old me found a fave that's still a fave even though I'm 42. They sure don't make em like Dime and Vinnie anymore.
Pantera is one of my favorite bands of all time. Dime is the reason I picked up a guitar.
im heavy influenced by vinnie on drumz. dimebag is the goat no doubt. rip both
My number one song form pantera is cowboys form hell give that song a go it is lit
I so dig your videos. It’s just awesome to see your opinion played out in real time as the song plays.
Epic choice of music man!! Pantera yyyeaahhh! Now do Disturbed!!
I was waiting for your reaction at the end. Loved it
"I'm a rock fan... No, no, no..." Yeah! Freudian slip much?
"If I could play this (guitar) like that, I would play this kind of music." So do it! Learn how to play the guitar and play some metal. Yes, black people play metal. Get inspired by Sevendust, God Forbid, Straight Line Stitch, Ad Infinitum, and Rage of Light. Hell, throw down some rap vocals over metal music. It works.
Every major metal band I've watched in an interview has named Pantera as at least 1 of their influences
The best jump on any reaction I've seen. That 5/4 measure got him every time 😁
Your joy is totally contagious, love it!!!
Especially by your reaction which says it all!!
Music is art. It’s all great to someone, which I respect. What I respect even more is someone who is passionate about his or her music and can still acknowledge that a different genre has at least as much talent. A lot of music out there to discover. Glad you discovered one of my favorite
It’s so so nice seeing new ppl discover my favorite band
💜💫💯 loved ur reaction 😁
Great video man, love it!
Dude really enjoying watching your reactions!!! Hilarious but dead on !
"kinda like it sings to you..." baby, wait until the end
I love seeing the youth of today enjoy pantera or any awesome metal bands..metal is a world of its own most def but metal with awesome guitar and drum riffs have some amazing lyrics
I love the tight, dry thrash production on this album. Awesome song! Hahaha I love your expression after the song sings out... Like wow WOW WOOOW!
I've watched you before, but I hadn't seen this one! You, sir, are fire!!! Love your intellect. God's blessings upon you and yours my beautiful brother!🤘🔥🤘🙏💛
lol loved this video...when that first chorus hit and u got lit, adorable!!! and relatable..its so energizing. Pantera is tha shit! glad u got it 😊 and yea totally normal to dance
"Oh he can sing"
"Oh that guitar sounds great"
This man had no idea what dimebag had in store for him later in the song.
Edit: Dimebag is an absolute legend. Eddie Van Halen buried his original bumblebee guitar along with dime at his funeral.
Great reaction btw cool perspectives about the song.
Your reaction to this song is why, if Pantera was still around, I would love to go to a show with you. You truly embody someone who understands and feels music and the story it's telling. I can tell you, this band is in my top 5 live bands, along with The Rolling Stones, Korn, Nine Inch Nails and Stabbing Westward. Keep up the great work sir.
Well now you have to do This Love!
no matter how many times I hear the ending gives me goosebumps every single time.
SAME!
Bro. You're the only reactor i find myself laughing along with like we chillin. You do a masterclass at talking to the community with probably no effort to the camera.
It's cool to see you getting into rock/metal. Very talented musicians.
Well, I guess you took my youth
And gave it all away
Like the birth of a new-found joy
This love would end in rage
And when she died I couldn't cry
The pride was in my soul
You left me incomplete
All alone as the memories now unfold
don't need to feel bad because you were dancing to the song brother, PANTERA was and will always be my favorite band their music is like no other band in my personal opinion, The Kings Of Metal
Can't contain my excitement, just hit play. Don't need to see the reaction to know he's going to love it. Yesssssss
What a blast watching Jojo react! I too am new to Pantera, and am really liking them. It's mind-opening to branch out!
Your reaction led to my subscribe. Not your style of music, but appreciated and credit given where credit due . Thank You(RIP DB)
Start playing that guitar man! Do it! When I started it took me months to get used to just holding the damn thing. I’m pretty good now. Start playing brother! You’ve GOT IT IN YOU🙏🏼
Yes they are all great musicians!
Each one of these videos you seem to like rock and metal more and more than the last one. Despite what people would have you believe, you can absolutely be a fan of both rap and rock/metal. Anyone that would say otherwise has a very narrow way of thinking. There is no reason to put limits to the types of things you enjoy (sonlong as they don't hurt yourself or others). The more you go outside of the box you assign for yourself, the more well rounded you become as a person. That's exactly what you are doing with these reactions, and it is a fantastic thing to see.
Both rap and metal are good, especially if you pay attention to the lyrics.
Both the Abbott Brothers Dime and Vinnie were a force to be reckoned with musically and both humble genuine people I had the pleasure meeting them both working event security at a concert. I miss Pantera, one of my all time favorite bands. Rest in Peace\m/
Awesome song. Thanks for the reaction!
Pantera had such a fucking groove that they are perfect for a rap fan to learn about metal!
Your face is priceless!!! Pantera is just a whole other level of genius.
This song right here has gotten me through hard times. It’s one of the greatest ls in Rock history in my opinion
Temazo! You didn't expect that final part, did you! 😛
This just proves that good music has no expiration. RIP Dime and Vinnie
Very good going! Like that song!
Walk and I'm Broken are my favorite Pantera songs.
Your reaction is priceless 🤘🤘
I love it!
Everyone’s first reaction to that solo. Just stare, blink, and finish with an “oh my god.”
Best reaction to a Dimebag solo I’ve ever seen just simply “😮😮😮 Oh my god”
I love a lot of Pantera songs but this is in my top 5 favorite metal songs ever.
Rap is like the Tilt-a-Whirl and rock is like a roller coaster. Both fun rides.
The solos,the vocals etc ! 😲🤘🤗
Rock music is complex and simple at the same time it seems!
One of my favorite concerts was Pantera🤟 R.I.P. Dime & Vinnie
It was about losing a lover to death as well as lamenting the prospects of suicide.
Good to be back.
love your face at 13:38... same face i did when I first heard that song back in 1990 ^^
stay real jojo love your stuff
I truly love seeing people react to Dimebag's solo in this song, I saw that squeal touch your soul.
Love in the beginning. How the song just grabbed him. Lol
I mainly listen to rock but I do find a lot of similarities between rock and rap, they're obviously different but they're just as influential and moving as each other
yes, people know worldwide that pantera were some of the best musicians in the entire genre. They didnt always flaunt it, but when they did it was crazy. The drummer and guitar player are blood brothers, and have been said to be one the tightest (on time and on point) musicians of all time
O hell yeah panthera you gotta check out their “Cowboys from Hell”
Best video ever watching them perform!
Good reaction, u caked it all! Song shout the singers fiancée whom died and the quitarest and singer are siblings, which would explain why the chemistry so clear with them,, u called it !!
Banger. Album version is a more complete package, not sure why they edited the music video. Slaps hard either way tho.
JUST WATCH THE RIGHT GOD DAMN MUSIC VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!
Because of radio and MTV. The album version is over 7 and a half minutes...and dipshit above me, there is no other official video.🖕🤘
ETA- Also, everyone else has already done it, but ya have to react to Domination Live in Russia 1991. Just like now, Phil sucks, but Dime will rip a hole in your reality.
Id like to see your reaction to This Love, by Pantera.
Crazy story, my girl broke up with me at Ozzfest 2000, I think it was?
Just before Pantera came on stage.
That song, and that moshpit,
was the perfect remedy for how I felt at the time..
😂😂😂😂😂 great reaction!!!
