One important thing we have learned to unlearn during these past few years is the art of simplicity. The mundane, simple, and non-competitive way of doing anything. It isn't simply applicable to Minecraft. I firmly believe it applies to game, especially sandbox games where you have freedom and creativity. Oftentimes, we fall into our own nostalgia bait, however we fail to realize that things were so much more different back then. It's not really because of the game you play, but because you were so much more of an innocent person back then who desired nothing but to just play.
You would play a game of Hunger Games in Lifeboat back then just because you enjoyed playing it, but now, for every time you play, what you would usually seek is the instant gratification of winning the games-- of being the best. We forget how to laugh when we lose, we forget how to smile anyway when we do not achieve anything we want instantly. We've basically the ability to see the beauty in anything beyond our desire.
The fun is lost in anything when you stop finding the fun in it. Anything we perceive as boring oftentimes end up as truly boring because we do not even bother to see beyond that. For something like Minecraft, and with most sandbox games, whose known for its creativity to be of no bounds, it has been always impossible right from the get-go for these to be objectively boring. Remember, these games were always about you and your choices. How you enjoy your gameplay is based on how you form it. It was always about you.
It begins with you, and ends with you.
The problem with us all is that we're now full of desire, we now hold up a sense of ego, a sense of pride. We no longer know how to enjoy the mundane things, the simplest of things. We're hyperfixated on the idea of staying on top of any social connection to survive the bigger world ahead of us as we grow up. We're paranoid of being left out, we're paranoid of losing something by the second we don't do anything. We're always in check, and always upkeep with everyone else.
So I think at times, we should learn to step back, sit down, and feel the beauty in simplicity.
This was 100% how I felt when playing but couldn't really word it out like how you did. I fully resonated with a lot of things you said in this comment. Embracing simplicity and just taking time to breathe and look around to appreciate things. This was such a beautiful comment Jimp, thank you :')

FR you be preaching brother!!! In general games are just better to play with friends and I think so many people forget about that. Just because a game like Minecraft was made to chill and relax doesn't mean it's "boring".
True, playing games alone is annoying (especially solo queueing competitive games) but I really do like the idea of doing whatever I want especially with friends in sandbox games.
For me, making minecraft fun again was making my game look old and fitting that aesthetic, making a resource pack is what makes this game fun to me!
Oh I do that sometimes since I really like the old fog look but I also add horror mods as well because the old Minecraft look + horror mods is actually terrifying to me LOL

You can still enjoy the game without friends but obv it's more fun if you play w some. What I liked doing is just setting fun challenges for myself w mods LOL

True, I kinda do get tired of Minecraft for a bit especially if I play it for way too long. Then I try out other games and back to Minecraft again. It's rly a fun game and like you said, up to people's imagination :3
