  • Two years before the deadly collision of BAL Flight 2937 and DHL 611 on July 1, 2002, Two jumbo jets with 677 people on board almost collided in eerily similar circumstances. They, too, had been confused by a similar problem: conflicting direction from air traffic control and the planes' own TCAS system.

Because of negligence, some skyguide workers were given suspension charges while 1 was given a fine. Peter nielsen was already underwhelmed by the disabled vital equipment he mostly need to avoid those 2 planes from colliding and was later killed by Vitaly Kaloyev. And if the Russian obeyed their TCAS rather than the controller's advice, then they would've avert the collision

Responsible for the Überlingen Catastrophe was the DHL crew. They descended as TCAS said, and in the same time heard the controller instructed the russian crew to descend but didn't do anything. Neither increase descent nor yell "WE are descending too!". Apparently DHL is too big to fail. Nobody deers to accuse DHL.

i dont think its really their fault, they already said about the tcas warning but the controller was busy helping other aircrafts, when the contoller noticed it the russian plane was guided to descend. so basically nobodys at fault in my opinion, it was due to failing censors.

Nah, if a tcas warning pops up, you just do what it tells you to do, because it was invented to be exactly that!
I can't think of a single reason why anyone would not respect tcas. Especially because a single pilot doing the opposite of what tcas says, means that 2 planes are going to collide.
