Makes sense to me. As a full time RV’r who can easily afford a high end diesel pusher, I opted to go with a 2019 Grand Design Reflection TT and a 2018 Ford F-250 Platinum diesel for all of the same reasons you covered. I felt like I was getting the most (biggest) bang for the buck (value). A $500,000 class A or most other RV’s will depreciate by 50% in 5 years. Why would I throw away $250,000 in 5 years for nothing in return? Not to mention the cost of insurance, upkeep, maintenance, repairs, and operating costs. I will keep my truck for many years after I’m done with the travel trailer. Bottom line is I’m living the RV dream for now and laughing all the way to the bank.👍

That's why you buy it used from a guy who only used it 5 or 6 times over the course of 5 years. Save yourself a ton of money and let someone else eat the cost new.

My husband and I had three trailers, starting off small, and gradually sizing up. Eventually we traded in for a secondhand fifth wheel, which we love. Unfortunately, we are getting on in life and have decided that we might trade in the fifth wheel for a travel trailer again. We thoroughly enjoy being able to go off in the warmer months where we like. Thanks for sharing your pros and cons. Happy travelling.

Great thoughts and warnings to heed!
The issue my wife and I are running into is we want to live full time, and want a reasonably 3-4 season camper that won’t have a voided warranty for living full time (or rattle apart from it) but we would be more than happy in something the size and simplicity of your first camper. We’ve looked at Geo Pros and almost bought a used G19BH for a ridiculously good price, but while it’s perfect for boondocking and living simple, it’s still not the best quality for living full time for a long time.
We don’t want a single extra. No TV, no sound system, no fancy finished. But that doesn’t mean we don’t want a high quality (simple living) camper! We can’t seem to find any that aren’t luxury, but also are long term livable quality.

I agree with you. You get what you pay for. Penny wise pound foolish. I'd rather have fewer good things than lots of junkie stuff. Debt is a killer. My wife and I have a policy in our home of "If you can't pay cash don't buy it." Now we have 3 houses paid for free and clear. I would love to sell one and buy a used Prevost bus and travel this great country.

My boyfriend and I live in the Bay Area, just moved into our first apartment together this month and realizing we may want to buy an RV after our lease is up to travel the US while living in each state for 1-3 months. If it’s possible...any videos on how to keep Maintance on your motor would be so appreciated!

Awesome video with very intuitive information. Thank you for what you're doing & keep doing it more! Be conscious of how often you say "umm" though too. I will watch more though! One last thought to advertise on the advantage of a travel trailer over a 5th wheel is if your truck breaks down, you can rent a 3/4 ton from uhaul to move your trailer if needed.

5th may give you more room, but regular travel trailer is closing that gap, too. 5th wheel does not look sleek or streamlined and is more hassle to setup and breakdown.

If you are buying a new reflection travel trailer I would say between 40-45k is average. However, if you are going to be in warm climates make sure you get the second A/C. It's makes a huge difference in the summer months.

We have camped in down to 28 degrees and did not have a problem for the few days. But I'm not sure if I would want to go a full winter in our camper. We definitely used up a lot of propane running the furnace. Honestly cold weather camping, not something we are interested in anyways. For us the point of full timing is never having to deal with cold weather, we plan to stay in the southern states during the winter.
But, thanks for the info, if someone ever asks about cold weather ready RV's I'll let them know about Northwood!
