This was another great video. Your painting of your name may not have been perfect but it definitely showed artistic flair😂 btw I want to know how do they fix mistakes? Can they just flamethrower it or is there more of a process?
Considering I regularly spill water when pouring from a carafe, and also seem to have mild dysgraphia, you did at least as well as I would have, and probably better.
I was just thinking I wanted that as a T-shirt. For all the splatters are unintentional they looking pretty cool! Especially in contrast with the neat and tidy tried
I just love how positive and encouraging Frankie is. Hes super non judgemental and supportive and seems to enjoy showing you the ropes. Realy enjoyable to see :)
If Frankie is like this in his day-to-day job, he is a great boss and I think it would be really nice to be one of his apprentices. It’s amazing to see the skills that are required to make something so ubiquitous.
the bacon, eggs and sausages sealed it for me. imagine being like 3am in the morning fucking freezing and your boss pulls up with breakfast and a pan and cooks you guys a nice breakfast
Considering I bet this kind of thing is completely different for Frankie and his team, he was a natural at explaining and encouraging. That coupled with the unadulterated joy of Matt’s laughter made this an awesome video.
This is my first time watching Matt Gray is Trying and it is very wonderful. Matt was cheerful and so was the staff, and I really liked how helpful Frankie was. The video format did remind me a bit of shows produced on PBS, a (national/public) television channel in the US. I looked at the description and found that the video was in collaboration with Penny4, and while reading the home page of the website, it came a bit of a shock to know that they *also* collaborated with PBS themselves. Truly this video was marvelous and I hope this serious continues after the new year.
Welcome to this episode of Matt Tries... Today we're meeting at the intersection of trying to cook bacon on weird things and Will It Soft Serve. And there's some bonus Technical Difficulties in there as well. A perfectly rounded masterpiece.
Matt, you're a great presenter for a series like this! Technical enough to ask some good questions, and always enthusiastic about learning something new.
The quality and production level of this series is top notch! And your joy - even when getting things wrong - is incredibly contagious. Loving this series 🙌
Also, nobody seems to have noticed that everything said over the donkey engine's rattling was clearly audible, without subtitles. That's the true genius of Matt Gray!

I was blown away by the circles (which highlight things like the switch), placed in position on the element while the camera was moving.
@@Vinemaple I actually was wondering for a moment and then thought that they "just" have the very best lapels for exactly that situation and know their post-production tools very well. True master-crafters!
I'm glad you are making an unofficial 4th season of the "going on adventures" you and your friends did on the technical difficulties. It's very entertaining.
They are a resin based thrmoplastic, with pigments usually organic, or titanium dioxide for white, and glass microspheres All will breakdown slowly except for the glass spheres and titanium dioxide both of which are insoluble and non-toxic
I love this!! In my neighborhood I get excited when they come around with this equipment and the SHINY REFLECTIVE BALLS they stick on top. I pick up the extras from the gutter like the packrat I am inside.
Now I know how, and why there is often a squiggly puddled lines in corner of some parking lots. I could never figure out how that would even happen and now I know it's caused by training people to use the line machine 😆
@@RyanMartin1 yeah, my first thought was, when seeing Matt try: now i know who did 'em! but actually, sometimes, i think lines get squiggly when they melt in sun, that is, when tarmac is soft and flowy and kinda flows and gets wavy. esp if one drives over those lines.
Matt Tried... That's the kind of hazing the new guy I like. Being kind along the way, showing them the ropes, yet still acknowledging how much practice and skill it takes to be actually good at it.
I think Matt just loved doing those mini adventures on the Technical Difficulties, so he decided to make his own series with his own budget 😁 i love it
They are just fun to learn. I have a similar thing that I would love to just drive a tractor once> I have no fancy in becoming a farmer but to drive one once seems like fun. and with something like this the camera crew gives Matt a excuse.
I have some fond memories of these things, weirdly I remember walking to university one day, it was absolutely freezing and with the campus being right on the bloody coast, very windy too. I walked past one of these machines and my god, it was so nice to stand by it for a couple of minutes just warming up.
The end bit was some great comedy. Absolute props to Frankie. Also I already love this series- it's great to see jobs like this most people never even think about, and get to see how much effort goes into it, and you get to try it firsthand- I'm jealous! I got to do this with welding once, but I had a whole week to go from totally incompetent to only mostly incompetent.
What a top bloke Frankie was! And well done Matt. You did so well! If I was trying it, the idea of bending down and aiming the plastic while it (hopefully) drips into the first hand mould, let alone the 2" square mould, all whilst keeping to a straight line *and* moving at the same time is too much multi-tasking. There's no way I'd have done such a good job as you, Matt. These professionals are masters of their craft and I'd happily watch them paint wording on roads for hours.
Also titled: Matt Gray is running around with a flamethrower and a can of paint. Fascinating and it's great to see your excitement as always. People's excitement is mainly why I watch videos like these. And it's great to have you doing these now!
Writing this comment before watching the vid. Matt, It's just... anything you do upload seems fun, wacky, educational and always worth it. Thank you. Now, off to watch.
That "tried..." gag with the cardboard was absolutely solid 🤣 The fact that he said "heres this cardboard in case you need to put the jug down" to make it not suspicious first
I love that you're upping the output as Tom takes break, this is a great concept, paired with your infectious enthusiasm. I can't wait to see whatever else you try and am interested to know if you inadvertently uncover some unexpekted natural talents.
Right away this video was far more interesting than I thought it would be. Then they pulled out the flame thrower and I was like, "This job is awesome!"
What a great video! You’re shedding light on something hardly anyone thinks about. Just goes to show how some really cool things are hidden in plain sight. Now I wanna try this.
How well do you think I did? If anything, I'm just happy it all came out vaguely looking like what I was intending!
You had more fun than being accurate, which definitely helps!
I was hoping to see how they remove lines too.
This was another great video. Your painting of your name may not have been perfect but it definitely showed artistic flair😂 btw I want to know how do they fix mistakes? Can they just flamethrower it or is there more of a process?
Better than I would have done. And your laughter is genuinely great!

That sign, "MATT TRIED..." with the splatters and all, should be a T-shirt. They should sell it whenever Matt tried something.
Ooh! Matt could try screen printing!
I would love that!

If this is how he is with new hires as well he's a great boss
Brilliant
Frankie either has extensive media training (doubtful) or he is a genuinely nice guy with a sharp intellect. What a gem of a person.
I know Frankie and he is a genuine nice guy@@cmwh1te
Yeah. Frankie seems like an awesome person.
the bag being part of the paint is so cool!
Talk about zero waste.
More packaging should be designed to be used with the product
That is 100% logical, foolproof and eco-friendly solution. No waste, no headache.
It's such a brilliant idea that should be implement wherever possible! It makes it easier for workers and creates no mess!
Crater grease (very heavy thick grease) can come in bags you just toss into the gearbox. But that's more because it's just obnoxious to deal with
It's rare for a host to be as good at presenting/narrating as they are fun to simply watch giddily try things. Matt is a treasure.
Thanks for Coming Matt!

Frankie is amazing! That reveal when he took the cardboard away xD
I've also got a new level of respect for the line marking crews!
Same!!
I got so much more respect for them seeing how difficult it is
Yeah, that was *amazing*

The reveal at the end was just lovely! So well done. Adding my name to the petition to make that a T-shirt.
this is lovely- it really helps that Frankie was so engaging, he really gets what you're doing here
Honestly, Matt Gray Is Trying is my favourite series. This guy makes me smile, his energy is infectious. Like syphilis, but nice.
I have always wondered, and now, I will see.
