They're way cheaper than designated power shears. I really only use mine anymore for FRP. They are absolutely worth the $55. I found one more pair for sale during the time they were discontinued. I bought this shear attachment to break down old metal roofing. It easily sliced through everything. I will say that it's got a learner's curve for how to manipulate the longer metal pieces and the tool itself, to keep the cut going continuously. For the price and the time saved it was definitely worth it for me. Smart thinking by DeWalt. This will save you a headache and your hands will thank you.

Sheet metal is one of those things me as a homeowner only works on every few years when I see something where it might work as a fix or on a roof. Then I go hunt down the hand shears and usually end up slicing my hand somehow in some way and try to remember the last time I had a tetanus shot and then find out my idea didn't work anyway in terms of a sheet metal fix... So, if this ONLY makes it so I don't have to hunt down those old manual shears AND reduces the odds of me cutting my hand/finger every few years, then I'm good to go for 43 bucks. You may feel the same...when you finally bust it open... AND HEY, you get to use a power tool in a new way. Doesn't get much better than that.

Thanks for the video Vince. I don't have that DeWalt attachment however I do have two different Malco drill attachments when is the Malco ts1 the other is the Malco tscm. The ts1 is Turbo shear first edition this is for your run-of-the-mill sheet metal and the tscm is Turbo Shear corrugated metal. Both are top-notch high quality tools. I have been running both of them for years ,and when I say years yeah I'm talking since I first started air conditioning back in 1999 is when I first got the ts1.. I got the tscm some years later. I highly recommend both malco products. although just the ts1 by itself is highly versatile and can also do the corrugated metal , just not as effectively meaning it is little more difficult than the dedicated tool but for Sheet Metal work it is top-notch. Malco makes a version of the ts1 that is very similar almost identical to that DeWalt that you have. I don't know the model because I don't have it but I've seen it and I have used it and to tell you the truth I don't like it as much as the ts1. I find it somewhat limiting in usefulness and efficiency because of the fact that it does not swivel independently of the drill or impact that is attached to.

I work in HVAC and cut ductwork everyday. I have about 3 different versions from different brands with my favorite being from malco. Has a separate handle for you to hold on to so you can guide it better, get more leverage and most importantly can twist the drill around while keeping the cutters in the same orientation to get into tight places. That dewalt version looks to me like its more for occasional or just straight cuts due it design. Seems great for the small cuts you did but anything more and I would get one with a handle.

Gotta give you props Vince this was a cool attachment. I remember cutting lath with a grinder all the sparks hitting me in the face, not cool burns and stings and this will take all the sting cutting lath.

I do gutter installation and most jobs we have tear off and we have to cut the scrap gutter so it'll fit in the truck bed. This looks like an absolute godsend especially since I'll just be cutting aluminum with it.

I'm a union carpenter and I do metal studs and we use metal shears for heavy gauge flat metal all the time but there's definitely a difference between shears and this attachment.... This attachment design seems to be more like tin snips which is a good thing for cutting metal studs... I think I'll buy me one and try it out
