    There’s nothing quite like eating hot cross buns fresh out of the oven around Easter time. It takes me back to being a kid in Belize.

    Omg!!! I’m been looking for this recipe for 10 years!!! My mom’s from Belize, but my grandmother’s friend would make this for us. I would ask her for the recipe when I was little and she would say when I get older. I went to college & moved away and she passed away. My mom never learned. I’m so excited. I’m crying watching this. Thank you. THANK GOD.

    Omg, girlfriend I have never made these before and every year I would promise to make to make them but I told myself that I am definitely making them for Easter, to me when I was growing up in Barbados, Easter wasn't Easter without hot cross buns. I missed my Mom too girlfriend and wish she was still here. I really like how you display your dishes and think we have some things in common. I look forward to hearing from you. God bless.

      @@CookingwithShirani Yes I did Shirani! Those memories are now my treasures!! Can I ask you to say something about how dough rises in the warmer climate vs the colder climate. I live in NY, so whenever I bake, especially in the cooler months, I have to heat up the house first. And heat the stove. Or else the dough will take 10 hrs to rise :-(

      Yes I have noticed the same thing. I usually just keep the dough in the oven with only the oven light turned on. The heat from the light really helps it. I know back home in Belize where it's hot the dough rises so fast on the counter top.

    Looks so nice and delicious 😋. Shirani , margarine is not good for your health. Please take care of yourself. You said you want to have one right now. Awww, Shirani. when you say things to your mom it does bring memories. I wish you all the very best.       Thank you very much Marie. You are so kind 🤗. I know margarine is not good but I use it in most of my Belizean recipes because that's what people can get back home in Belize. A lot of places don't sell real butter. It's not common there. As for my mom, unfortunately she passed away many years ago. Making all the food she use to make brings back so many memories though.     Wow, those cross buns look wonderful! I can't believe 2 cups of flour yields 8 buns..that's amazing. I will definitely try this recipe for Easter. I just have two questions. 1) Did you use whole milk? 2) Did you use salted or unsalted butter?

    Hi Shirani, thank you for sharing! I'm from Chetumal but my great grandma used to make buns since her own grandma was from Belize. One question thou, do you bake at 350 farenheit or celcius? I'd think F since you live in the USA, right?

      Yes the measurements would still be the same. The bead flour just gives it a bit of a higher rise.
