I understand younger folks who found the $600 price tag ridiculous. But for a middle aged man like myself who waited 30+ years for this figure, it's peanuts compared to other hobbies my friends partake in. There's something about being awed when you're 7yo that stays with your forever. The only thing that ever triggers such feelings in me are of those based in nostalgia.
I don't find 600 usd ridiculous, I've paid more for only 3 Sh Monsterarts figures, but like the people in the comment section said, why is it 1,599 usd? 600 is reasonable, but 1,600? Hell no. I'm 16 years old, and 600 isn't ridiculous to me, but I think everyone can agree 1,600 is ridiculous. It's a nice figure, but it is not worth 1,600 dollars. I'm sure you can agree.
This reviewer is one of those...whatever is in his hands is the best figure made, till tomorrow figure shows up. Guy videos are entertaining but, he to much the flavor of the day to take his reviews that seriously.

I wish 01 studio cell was up scaled to the size of this one because it has a more accurate look for Unicron and has next to no kibble. He also has great sculpting in planet and robot mode. Even the back of 01 studio cell is clean and it is strong enough to stand on its own without a stand.

Looks good in planet mode but that “transformation” is pretty disappointing with all the shell forming. All that extra kit hanging off him in robot mode just kills it for me. I love my Studio Cell Unicron! It’s cleaner and more toon accurate looking. Once you get used to transforming it the process is easy. For the cost of this figure and it’s overall size I wish the designers did a better job with the transformation.
I agree that the robot mode for 01 Studio Cell looks much cleaner. However, I think the transformation, even when you've gotten used to it, is still not very fun to do (man, those fucking spikes), and in terms of the planet mode, the HasLab Unicron has got it beat (even considering the blue maw). Cell is a good display option for robot mode, but otherwise, I pick HasLab Unicron.
As much as I am not a fan of kibble, I will admit that the engineering to organize the kibble is impressive. This figure is definitely a fantastic looking piece for any transformers fan, however the missing paint apps do make it feel like Haslab decided to cut corners in order save some money. Fans like yourself who backed this project deserve the very best Haslab/Takara has to offer, especially with it being so expensive. I definitely appreciate your honest review of this figure.

Eh, look at the bright side: there's no such thing as the definitive version of a character anymore - you'll just get the next big Unicron they release in ten years or so, and it will be even better than this one
Can't wait for the DNA Designs upgrade kits for this thing. I can already see them adding a new planet mouth with yellow inside and an orange LED to make the center glow, and maybe even more cleanly transforming panels.
Amazing Review just like all your reviews. I saw this back at SDCC 2019 & was so excited for this however Hasbro REALLY Dropped the Ball. I love what they been doing with Studio Series & War For Cybertron so I know the design would be amazing. Yet for a $600 Fan Backed Unicron I can't believe they made his Planet Mouth is now inaccurate colors from what was shown the last almost 2 years. Also I never liked he had teeth but now the bottom are unpainted! Who decided this? The thing about Unicron there is no wait he would be in scale with Transformers even Legends. I love the Armada one for it's size and even if it's not Movie Unicron Accurate neither is this one. Even if I had the space and money for this I know I would be very unhappy with what the final product came out. Also the transformation isn't fun with a Transformer that big. Even the Titan figures with much simpler transformations can be a pain. I'm glad I can admire this figure from videos and glad I didn't buy this. Still love your review!

I like the spring loaded fist transformation. It actually allows you to replicate that scene in the movie when his arms are being transformed and his wrists just pull forwards

This figure is just so impressive in so many areas! It truly outweighs the major cons that everyone at this point has realized. Also, a couple of extra bucks for silver paint and some bottles of wash to bring out the details could go a very long way. Thanks pvp for sharing so that we too can appreciate this beyond the promotional photos for free. I don't think anyone here is willing to pay the scapled price it's at today.

I always wanted G1 Omega Supreme back in the day, and this model gives those vibes x100. Just an amazing piece of work. I appreciate being able to live the experience via your channel as I most likely would never see one in person nor be able to really justify the well-past-retail current asking price.

5:04 I suspect they opted out of the silver to make the "removed" face plate look uniform. An odd design choice for a display option I assume very few would utilize. This lead to an unfortunate case where I don't see an easy solution.
the only thing about this figure that puts me off is the teeth. we don't actually see teeth in unicron's mouth in the 86 movie so seeing them here is really odd to me

I chose the Studio Cell Unicron over this big massive kibble mess. For some reason buying that big monstrocity would make me rethink my life decisions and give me BAD buyers remorse. Im excited for all you who have it and love it! Wished I shared your same enthusiasm. This is to much of 1 thing. What I LOVE about the Studio one, no kibble and its the very definition of "less is more".
MP Unicron is not masterpiece if he can carry MP hot rod, MP bee, MP arcee, and when they ever make MP Galvatron. And all must be the same accurate size. Nice review bro
Ummmmm......You do realize to scale him properly, he would be LITTERLY size of the moon. Litterly. Your being alitttle to anal. Think of it this way.... Megatron fit in The Ark's hand with plenty of room for all his buddies. Ark is smaller then Metroplex. Metroplex is a cityformer on earth (depending on what your watching). He's tiny when scaled with earth. So what that have to do with Unicron? Saturn is 10% the size of Cybertron. Unicron is bigger than Cybertron.....
The price is what scared me off (and the sheer size of the figure) but this review has confirmed my hopes for this figure: it looks amazing and is a good piece as a collector’s item and as a toy. If I had the expendable income and the shelf space for this figure, I wouldn’t have hesitated to buy it/back the campaign.
Fun fact, the Galvatron and Hot Rod slug figures fit inside Unicron's mouth. So he can eat them with no issue, if you so desire. Removing them can be a bit tough, just don't let the spring loaded mouth flip them out when you do. Just thought I'd point it out. I also had a bear of a time transforming this guy the two times I did it before putting him back into the box. (No room to display him properly yet, so he's being stored until then.) Do be careful when transforming him, as the tabs are really, really tight. I understand why, but I wound up putting a stress mark on one of the tab slots because of it. Also an issue is putting the slots back into place when converting him to planet mode, the same tightness made it rather finnicky. I love this beast of a figure, but I have a strong feeling I'm not going to be messing around much with him when I can fully put him on display. Oh well, that's probably for the best with $600 in this thing. More of a display piece than something to really play with.
I’m grown and I still love the transformers movie. Seeing this is a marvel to any toy I ever owed is think I used to be impressed by Devastator but this is phenomenal!
8:00 - When goiing to final production there is a limited amount of physical space on the molds. Prototyping single pieces are manufactured individually, but mass production uses larger injection molds to create many pieces at once. You cannot mix colors on these molds - all pieces in a single mold are the same color. In this case, either all orange parts only, or all blue. Given physical limitations of area and volume, they have to lay out all the pieces and decide which pieces go into which mold, I would say that they simply didn't have room for another orange piece without making an entirely separate mold which is not cost effective for a single piece. So something had to be moved from the orange part mold set to the blue part mold set, which obviously had room to accommodate it. This is also why some parts that would make sense to be cast in orange are cast in blue and then painted. Why this is disappointing, I can at least understand _why_ it was done.
Ofc the transformation feels more enjoyable than Studio Cell's Unicron considering how much kibble the Hasbro version has. Half the planet mode ends up on his back. Aside from the scale, I'd rather spend my money on the Studio Cell version.
Great job on presentation and congrats on getting yours so quickly. I bought 2 Unicron’s for myself on October 5, 2019. One for planet mode and one for robot mode. Looking forward to them being shipped in North America. This regardless will be well worth it. People spend more for their Third Party Masterpiece quality complete combiners. Or all 5 Fanstoys Dinobots are over $1000. I could never justify all the insane money people spend on those, but $574.99 American dollars on Unicron was well worth it. A once in a life time Hasbro purchase.
I recently got this fig and, My did they out do themselves. This is easily my favourite mainline figure ever And every complain about the kibble certainly don't mind as u can just unscrew them off and get a kibbleless unicron and then take the kibble and connect the panels to make his planet mode( missing out on the rings and stand tho) This figure will certainly be a centerpiece in any transformers fan's collection
He is a massive figure but the fact they didn't give the backers what they showed: The all orange maw in planet mode and the lower teeth in robot mode. it's INEXCUSEABLE!! The ring's transformation reminds me of the Armada Unicorn. For a figure of this size and price point, They should've added some electronics and Voice clips from the 86 movie!! Cell Unicorn transformation was frustrating but the end result was worth it. NO PLANET KIBBLE!! IF Takara comes out with the haslab Unicron with the all-orange maw and silver teeth, many are gonna cry bitter tears for shelling out so much money for this version.

My partner actually has this on lay-by from EB games in Australia, and I'm real tempted to fix some of the paint issues once it arrives being a warhammer painter myself. The extra tiny display bots and ship will also be great for paint touch ups.

Didn’t care to back him back then (never thought it would find enough backers), will not even try to hunt him down now. 600 dollars is way too much for me, and counting shipping and sure as death customs clearance, I’d wage a 2x for the total price tag. And I wouldn’t even know where to put it.
It would have been cool if there was a small button where all the kibble folds up that when pressed you could pull them out. It would be nice if Hasbro finished the paint job. I dont like to alter my figures I prefer stock product but the bottom unfinished teeth are terrible.
I know. I got over the maw not painted but got triggered over the lower teeth not painted. Hasbro was very clear about the kibbbbbbbbble on the figure which isn't a big deal. A button release on the pringles, I mean kibble, would have been slick.

GREAT review! A few notes for complaining about the backpack/kibble & imperfections on a $600 figure: - It is not a $600 figure. It is a $1,500+ figure. - People are regularly buying it for that price. - Backpack/kibble can be removed, and you can have bot & planet at the same time (woohoo!) It is important to understand that this is the going rate for these now, because if you are stuck with the thought of it being $600, it will be super hard to make the jump for many to buy at nearly 3x the price, but that is where we are at now. I suspect buyers at $1,500+ will be just as happy with the figure :)
I've been hit with some serious buyer's remorse after getting Studio Cell 01. Those numbers are tempting me to just flip him and enjoy the superior product I already have in hand. If not, this guy will be a displayed in planet mode exclusively. That robot mode next to his younger, more successful brother would just look...sad.
Maybe the kibble would be screen accurate. Look at Optimus, he has kibble on his arms and the back, it’s spot on accurate. Look at Chromia, she has a lot of kibble and it’s screen accurate.
after much consideration, its only logical that a figure of this scale would need to have a proportionately easy transformation as opposed to Studio Cell. Though it's still quite a shame that considering Hasbro's engineering now I think the kibble could be managed much better than what we get here. Though the hollow hands and unpainted lower jaw is totally unacceptable for the price and hype in my opinion.

This figure is just so impressive in so many areas! It truly outweighs the major cons that everyone at this point has realized. Also, a couple of extra bucks for silver paint and some bottles of wash to bring out the details could go a very long way.
Thanks pvp for sharing so that we too can appreciate this beyond the promotional photos for free. I don't think anyone here is willing to pay the scapled price it's at today.

I always wanted G1 Omega Supreme back in the day, and this model gives those vibes x100. Just an amazing piece of work. I appreciate being able to live the experience via your channel as I most likely would never see one in person nor be able to really justify the well-past-retail current asking price.

The best English spoken review I´ve seen so far for the Chaos Bringer. I do agree that it´s a great collectible piece, with great articulation and well done paint apps. I love how you compared him to the more clean Studio Cell. Can´t wait to get mine.
I like my Studio Cell version, but I hope TakaraTomy would make a masterpiece version that is in the scale of Studio Cell so that I can have room for it.

5:04 I suspect they opted out of the silver to make the "removed" face plate look uniform. An odd design choice for a display option I assume very few would utilize. This lead to an unfortunate case where I don't see an easy solution.
the only thing about this figure that puts me off is the teeth. we don't actually see teeth in unicron's mouth in the 86 movie so seeing them here is really odd to me

I chose the Studio Cell Unicron over this big massive kibble mess. For some reason buying that big monstrocity would make me rethink my life decisions and give me BAD buyers remorse. Im excited for all you who have it and love it! Wished I shared your same enthusiasm. This is to much of 1 thing. What I LOVE about the Studio one, no kibble and its the very definition of "less is more".
He looks amazing! Could never justify the cost of this figure, but I am still happy with my Armada version in movie colours.

Megatron fit in The Ark's hand with plenty of room for all his buddies. Ark is smaller then Metroplex. Metroplex is a cityformer on earth (depending on what your watching). He's tiny when scaled with earth. So what that have to do with Unicron?
Saturn is 10% the size of Cybertron. Unicron is bigger than Cybertron.....
The price is what scared me off (and the sheer size of the figure) but this review has confirmed my hopes for this figure: it looks amazing and is a good piece as a collector’s item and as a toy.
If I had the expendable income and the shelf space for this figure, I wouldn’t have hesitated to buy it/back the campaign.

Fun fact, the Galvatron and Hot Rod slug figures fit inside Unicron's mouth. So he can eat them with no issue, if you so desire. Removing them can be a bit tough, just don't let the spring loaded mouth flip them out when you do. Just thought I'd point it out.
I also had a bear of a time transforming this guy the two times I did it before putting him back into the box. (No room to display him properly yet, so he's being stored until then.) Do be careful when transforming him, as the tabs are really, really tight. I understand why, but I wound up putting a stress mark on one of the tab slots because of it. Also an issue is putting the slots back into place when converting him to planet mode, the same tightness made it rather finnicky. I love this beast of a figure, but I have a strong feeling I'm not going to be messing around much with him when I can fully put him on display. Oh well, that's probably for the best with $600 in this thing. More of a display piece than something to really play with.
I’m grown and I still love the transformers movie. Seeing this is a marvel to any toy I ever owed is think I used to be impressed by Devastator but this is phenomenal!

8:00 - When goiing to final production there is a limited amount of physical space on the molds. Prototyping single pieces are manufactured individually, but mass production uses larger injection molds to create many pieces at once. You cannot mix colors on these molds - all pieces in a single mold are the same color. In this case, either all orange parts only, or all blue.
Given physical limitations of area and volume, they have to lay out all the pieces and decide which pieces go into which mold, I would say that they simply didn't have room for another orange piece without making an entirely separate mold which is not cost effective for a single piece. So something had to be moved from the orange part mold set to the blue part mold set, which obviously had room to accommodate it. This is also why some parts that would make sense to be cast in orange are cast in blue and then painted.
Why this is disappointing, I can at least understand _why_ it was done.

Ofc the transformation feels more enjoyable than Studio Cell's Unicron considering how much kibble the Hasbro version has. Half the planet mode ends up on his back. Aside from the scale, I'd rather spend my money on the Studio Cell version.

Great job on presentation and congrats on getting yours so quickly. I bought 2 Unicron’s for myself on October 5, 2019. One for planet mode and one for robot mode. Looking forward to them being shipped in North America. This regardless will be well worth it. People spend more for their Third Party Masterpiece quality complete combiners. Or all 5 Fanstoys Dinobots are over $1000. I could never justify all the insane money people spend on those, but $574.99 American dollars on Unicron was well worth it. A once in a life time Hasbro purchase.

And every complain about the kibble certainly don't mind as u can just unscrew them off and get a kibbleless unicron and then take the kibble and connect the panels to make his planet mode( missing out on the rings and stand tho)

He is a massive figure but the fact they didn't give the backers what they showed: The all orange maw in planet mode
and the lower teeth in robot mode. it's INEXCUSEABLE!! The ring's transformation reminds me of the Armada Unicorn.
For a figure of this size and price point, They should've added some electronics and Voice clips from the 86 movie!! Cell Unicorn transformation was frustrating but the end result was worth it. NO PLANET KIBBLE!! IF Takara comes out with the haslab Unicron with the all-orange maw and silver teeth, many are gonna cry bitter tears for shelling out so much money for this version.

A question...how does it feel the ratchets for all the articulations? hard? soft? "maybe i will break" type?
My partner actually has this on lay-by from EB games in Australia, and I'm real tempted to fix some of the paint issues once it arrives being a warhammer painter myself. The extra tiny display bots and ship will also be great for paint touch ups.
Your going to seriously paint a TWO THOUSAND DOLLAR transformer??? Yup. Thats its average price now.

I think a nice feature would have been removable back and leg kibble. It would at least give the option to have a cleaner robot mode.
If they did that you'd be able to display both modes.

Didn’t care to back him back then (never thought it would find enough backers), will not even try to hunt him down now. 600 dollars is way too much for me, and counting shipping and sure as death customs clearance, I’d wage a 2x for the total price tag.
And I wouldn’t even know where to put it.
It would have been cool if there was a small button where all the kibble folds up that when pressed you could pull them out. It would be nice if Hasbro finished the paint job. I dont like to alter my figures I prefer stock product but the bottom unfinished teeth are terrible.
I've found people on the internet who unscrewed the kibble from the back on the feet. It looks way better, try searching it up
I know. I got over the maw not painted but got triggered over the lower teeth not painted. Hasbro was very clear about the kibbbbbbbbble on the figure which isn't a big deal. A button release on the pringles, I mean kibble, would have been slick.

I understand why people are complaining but at the same time I don't.
GREAT review! A few notes for complaining about the backpack/kibble & imperfections on a $600 figure:
- It is not a $600 figure. It is a $1,500+ figure.
- People are regularly buying it for that price.
- Backpack/kibble can be removed, and you can have bot & planet at the same time (woohoo!)
It is important to understand that this is the going rate for these now, because if you are stuck with the thought of it being $600, it will be super hard to make the jump for many to buy at nearly 3x the price, but that is where we are at now. I suspect buyers at $1,500+ will be just as happy with the figure :)
I've been hit with some serious buyer's remorse after getting Studio Cell 01. Those numbers are tempting me to just flip him and enjoy the superior product I already have in hand.
If not, this guy will be a displayed in planet mode exclusively. That robot mode next to his younger, more successful brother would just look...sad.

Maybe the kibble would be screen accurate. Look at Optimus, he has kibble on his arms and the back, it’s spot on accurate. Look at Chromia, she has a lot of kibble and it’s screen accurate.
Unfortunately not in Unicorn case. I watched the movie and he's pretty clean, no kibbles at all

after much consideration, its only logical that a figure of this scale would need to have a proportionately easy transformation as opposed to Studio Cell. Though it's still quite a shame that considering Hasbro's engineering now I think the kibble could be managed much better than what we get here. Though the hollow hands and unpainted lower jaw is totally unacceptable for the price and hype in my opinion.
I backed him and I really love it, I have no complaints (that I SEE from the vid). I cant wait till he comes in. All the little things mentioned truly are nothing we didnt know about. And as an extra tidbit, Im totally jelly over here you got one already. I was like "OHHHH ! That lucky dog!! I hope he stubs his pinky toe and it hurts real bad" (LOL) Thanks for the vid, all it did was make me happier I back the Chaos Bringer and more anxious to FINALLY receive mine!! :)
