By FAR the best episode so far! And you're so right how much harder it hits to see Ahsoka as a Padawan in live action vs in animation. I was literally just talking to my dad about this and his immediate reaction was "She was just a baby!" Child soldiers. That's what the Padawans of the Clone Wars were. What Ahsoka was. And why she's still so deeply affected by the Clone Wars to this day. I also really liked the lesson that Anakin was teaching her her about how Jedi evolve and change depending on what they need to be at a certain point in time. I've struggled a lot with how the Jedi of the Old Republic were compared to different periods of time, like the High Republic. But Anakin is right. The Jedi may have had to adapt to different situations, but they were still Jedi. And so is Ahsoka. This hit just as hard as her infamous "I am no Jedi" line in Rebels. Ahsoka IS a Jedi! Now I get why they were putting the word "Jedi" in all the trailers. Because no matter what she thinks of herself, she is a Jedi. And Sabine will be a Jedi, too. Because even though she's not like the Jedi who came before, neither was Ahsoka, or Anakin, or Qui-Gon. She'll be the Jedi needed for the time she's living in now. Part of the Legacy.
Exactly. Sabine only blocks *herself* from the Force. By letting go of her own guilt and self-loathing over the genocide of her people and the death of her family in particular, of her resentment towards Ahsoka and even Ezra for "leaving" her, she will become as her ancestor Tarre Vizla was, and as Grogu is - a Mandalorian Jedi. It is interesting just how much the trailer cards apply to both Ahsoka and Sabine. Warrior. Outcast. Rebel. Jedi. They are these things and so much more.
@@ladygrey7425 Yes yes yes! If Sabine can just manage to let go and forgive herself, I have no doubt that she'd be able to tap into the Force! I mean, remember back during the final season of Rebels where people were tossing around fan theories that Sabine might be Force sensitive? It seems like so many people forgot that was a theory that was going around for a short amount of time, considering how now everyone is being so shocked about the fact that Ahsoka is training Sabine as a Jedi now.

It was so moving when Anakin told her she did good during the seige of Mandalor. The day that haunts her most because it was the day she wasn't there for him. It's such a good way for him to tell her she made the right decision and not to waiver in doing good because of what might be.
The best moment in episode 5 of Ashoka was when she said to Anakin "I choose to live" and then throwing away the lightsaber. Brilliant. It shows that it's always possible to change for the better and become more than past traumatic experiences. Great video.
Ariana Greenblatt, she really did a good job. Oh she did amazing. The way she interacted with Anakin, and even the way she used her sabers, she was easily doing better than the adults in the sequels
Ashoka really lived a sad, miserable life. Tragedy after tragedy, and never with loved ones for very long. It's really great ro see her come to terms with everythint. She started smiling and being happy again after her lesson wirh Anakin.
DUDE! When Anakin kicked her through the fog and walked through the fog switching back and forth from Vader ....OMG my favorite part from ALL the series! Ashoka with the Sith eyes and not killing Anakin shows she has full control...Her training is complete. ..What Anakin wanted.
Yes, there’s a possibility Anakin made true peace with his darkness in that moment. So they’ve both come full circle, he in turn saved her from herself and reignited her will to live.
Just like what Dark Side Yoda said to himself. The DarkSide is everywhere and everyone has their own inner darkness. It’s up to the individual if they want to embrace it. Turn away from it or balance it with their inner light side. Even Ahsoka tasted her own inner darkness but chose not to strike down Vader which she did dislike.
The lesson Anakin was trying to teach though is that the Jedi need to learn to use the Darkside without losing control to it so that they can be what the galaxy needs them to be. As he marches into battle you see him appear as Vader showing that the act of warfare had nothing to do with being keepers of the peace or anything to do with the Light. And even Ahsoka needed to be taught her lesson by both Anakin and Vader since either one by themselves wasn't enough to get through to her. That kind of flexibility and ability to adapt is the lesson Anakin was trying to pass on to the New Jedi Order and cannot be achieved without mastery and use of both the Dark and the Light.
This wasn’t the first time shes tapped into the darkside it also happened during to the mortis episodes. But in this scene. She taps into it and just lets it go. Proving she can control herself
Well said. Before this episode, I knew Ahsoka still had guilt from her past she needed to let go of. What I didn't consider, is guilt she may have held in being afraid of giving into the dark side of the force because Anakin did, or even because of the damage incurred from her training during the Clone war. You did another fantastic job of working through all of this. Because in reality, do the Jedi really have to evolve blindly to the times? Good episode which shows how the Jedi stopped listening to the will of the force for the sake of evolving to the times, and how much it cost them.
It really was not a shock for me. I was well aware that Ahsoka was just a child during The Clone Wars. It was always on my mind as I watched those animated episodes and one of the things that made me question whether the Jedi Order was really a force for good or not. Ahsoka's mental and emotional scars from a life of war and conflict and her yearning to no longer have to fight are central to her character and it's important to understand that about her. I think it's part of the reason she's so beloved by the fans, because we all still see her as that child that was thrown into a war and then shaped and scarred by it.
Same here, but it felt more distant, almost like a joke I’d muse on when I’m feeling sadistic. But seeing it in live action… felt like reality punching me in the gut
Jedi's way was not to pamper the Padawans. While Younglings had a more theoretical training, it was believed that, once reached the age of 13-14 (for humanoid races), an apprentice could follow a master and see what the world was really made of. Certainly they didn't foresee a galactic war, but even in peacetime a Padawan could live dire situations. Like the apprentice of a oriental wandering monk could live.
Can I just point out the sheer power in that strike when Vader slashes down on young Ahsoka’s guard? Literally shattered her block like it was made of glass
It was an excellent scene! Like the Mandalorian, Boba Fett and Obi Wan spin offs, Ahsoka is another amazing series giving background and depth to the Star Wars universe. It certainly painted a more graphic picture of how young she was and how much it affected her. But also how Anakin was in fact the chosen one, who was redeemed by the force with the help of his son. As both film and TV have changed and continue to change in our society, it's great to see these very detailed shorter segments than trilogy movies every 10-15 years that tell the pivotal points of the overall story. All good stuff!
I loved the contrast with jacen and how Hera says he’s too young to be traveling to another galaxy. He is kept in his mother love and not thrown into training and battle even if he is force sensitive.

Could her healing from this episode change her mind on training Grogu? He chose the Mandalorian path, thinking it was one or the other. However, with Sabine and now her understanding after this episode, she may reconsider and that would explain why Grogu wasn’t seen later in Luke’s academy.
I've heard people describe Ahsoka as annoying in the early Clone Wars seasons. The live action portrayal helps you see how she was really just a child in a warzone and was freaking the f**k out!
We’ve been both shown and told on multiple occasions that Mandalorians specialized in fighting Jedi and other Force Sensitives. So seeing Ahsoka carve her way through what we’re supposed to be elite Mandalorian warriors like they were scrubs just accentuates how skilled a warrior she had become by then.
To quote Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore in The Harry Potter films and books: "There is plenty to be learned even from a bad teacher: what not to do, how not to be."
Anakin is completely right. Ahsoka didn't ask for this. None of this. Or her friends. Ahsoka is not just a warrior. She's very smart, compassionate, emphatic, capable. Ahsoka is completely Jedi. So nice she learned this lesson😊 I can feel what Ahsoka felt. Ahsoka learned so much here. It is scary yes. She is soldier for the light. Instrument of death and destruction for the light, good, peace. Its crazy the perspective you feel when seeing it live action. Watching clone wars i NEVER stopped to think of her age and how this young ahsoka is in war and as a general! But seeing live action my brain clicked! Thinking "wtf shes just a kid"!
I believe your assessment is perfect. I believe this is how it was meant to be for her and her master. I wish some of your podcasters on other channels saw this as you do. this makes me feel a lot better about following channels like yours.
I think why she didn't turn was more simple than that in the end. At this point she KNOWS Anakin/Vader are long dead. At that point in the fight she was already given the choice of 2 options; live, or die. She knows where she is from prior experience, and she knows what making the right choice, or wrong choice will mean. And I honestly believe she went Dark for a second just to feel IF the power was as cracked up to be as she's been taught; if you really become more powerful than you can possibly imagine so to speak. It's in the brief second with Vader's blade to his throat she knows it's not; she knows Anakin is lost, so even with more power she can never bring him back even if it meant "killing" Vader. So she tosses the saber and Vader backs up knowing "HE" lost, closes the eyes and Sky Guy is back. And we all know what happens from there. Gandal............ I mean Ahsoka The White emerges and mind melds like Spock with a galaxy jumping space whale off to find Ezra. I truly hope Huyang is earning a lot of New Republican credits for all this. Parts for a 10,000 plus year driod can't be cheap I'm sure. 😅😅
She obviously was depressed and had a lot of baggage since she’s been back. I think that little moment was just her revealing it and letting it go. I think that moment was the whole point of the “training.”
Also important to note, Anakin was only 19 when training Ahsoka. And yeah, that's when a lot of people go to war, he was also a general and responsible for far more than he should have been. The Clone Wars broke both of them.
Its crazy because i just watched the video on how qui gon had a similar conflict i see her legacy within her forsure truly a jedi a warrior and most of all a ronin
Sometimes you just want to get close to the dark side, stare it in the eye knowing full well you will not let it in, that you can tell it f-off and walk away.
Even at 14 years old, her species live way longer than humans, which likely means they age much slower. Therefore, it is likely that she is more equivalent to a 7-year-old during the Clone Wars.
Yes this was terrifying and such an amazing episode! I love how it shows snaking half the chosen one and half the dark lord Vader and how that impacted Ashoka
An awesome seen would’ve been with Anakin knighting Ashoka a true Jedi knight!! With the slight silhouette of force ghost Yoda Obi Wan Qui Gon Jin & even PLO Koon there as well.
What is interesting here is how Anakin openly identifies that the Jedi were not taking part in the war as peacekeepers as many within and without claimed but does not condemn the Order for taking part. He even appears as Vader as he marches into battle indicating that the act of warfare is firmly rooted in the Darkside not the Light. Given that saying Ahsoka doesn't still understand and then immeditately drawing upon the full power of the Dark Side seems to be saying that for the Jedi to protectors they need to embrace both the Dark and Light so that they can rise to any challenge. This is not dissimilar to the ideology that Luke adopted in Legends as he too attempted to strike that balance - as did Jacen (Syndulla) Solo. Funnily enough, if Anakin can successfully guide the New Jedi Order into accepting the Force in its entirity then it'll prevent the extremes within the Force that cause the rise of the Sith because the Order will itself embody the balance the Will of the Force constantly tries to achieve. He will have fullfilled the purpose of The Chosen One.
That’s one thing the Jedi struggled with even after Luke started his own academy. Still feared and denied the dark side instead of embracing that part of them. The only one who did on screen was Yoda during the clone wars
People are saying Ahsoka beat Anikan in combat but that wasn't even a real duel. She was just seeing her life flash between her eyes. (She actually lost her duel. -Against Baylan.)
Right, Anakin wasn’t going to kill her even after backpedaling to beginning of training as Vader. She passed the trial, even resembling Luke in her refusal to give in.
well she didnt actually lose, or they just didnt show us the outcome , because she was going to lose eventually 100%, it seems she wanted to like suicide and save vader cuz she break the platform before the energy blast hit vader. which indeed saved vader that day or he would be dead . she was all in fight or die but chose to save her master in the end@@johnwebb4499
I viewed it as more that Ahsoka has finally forgiven herself for things that she had no control over. She chooses to live for more than her given lot in life.
It truly does! I have watched the flashbacks so many times now and every time I watch them I appreciate them more and more. I initially thought the message was Ahsoka needing to overcome her fear of turning into Anakin, a powerful and dangerous individual who brought death and destruction in his wake just like Baylan Skoll said her legacy was. but it was more, it’s also about overcoming her guilt in thinking that it is her fault Anakin turned into Darth Vader because she left the order and him, to understand that she is more than just a soldier, a warrior, even a Jedi, that she can become everything good that Anakin Skywalker could have been because of all the things she was taught by him and the Jedi. We tend to focus on the bad more often than we ever focus on the good.
Ahsoka is the best SW we have gotten since Disney bought it. If this isn’t a wake up call to Disney to make Dave Filoni and Jon Faverau as the leaders of Star Wars in its entirety….Idk what will.
Sorry, but normies are confused by this show and barely anyone but hardcore fans watch it. It's like people wanting Andor to be a wake up call to Disney but never watching it. The most watched show was Obi-Wan, so they looked at that and said, okay, make more stupid shit like that, they seem to like it 😂
Just looked like reflection of light there was really no real push to the dark side here anakin wasn’t even enough to force a rage kill but if that fight did happen with a Vader now then what would the climax of the show be by comparison if it was cinematic and complete
Nah I think you’re reaching on the Ashoka sith eyes bit. Her eyes looked the same. Sith eyes aren’t like mood rings, changing when you get mad lol. Someone who is consumed by the dark side displays the yellow eyes. Unless they’ve changed it and consequently cheapened it’s meaning. I def don’t put it past disney. And the whole idea of the Jedi adapting to the times it’s kinda nonsense imo. That presumes a generational model to their institution. But we’re talking about an Order with people like Yoda and other Jedi that live hundreds of years and have seen wars before. The Jedi weren’t meant to adapt and shift roles with the times. They were meant to be the Jedi throughout all time. But they failed in the clone wars in part because of the manipulation of Sidious and their own self assurance. Filoni is just trying something new with Star Wars but i don’t think it fits. But it’s certainly a better attempt than the BS “sequel trilogy”.
Some people think is the reflection of the red lightsaber made her eyes red. However, how'd you explain black outer of the eye getting smaller than before and Pupils are smaller as well. I think the student is the same as the teacher angry and still feels betrayed by the order Anakin had to bring out that anger in her showing that emotion to live otherwise she would have died in the waters. She had bottles up all those feelings are anger somehow now since she did she is Ahsoka the white. I don't think it was the refle tion of the red there would have been a hint of blue as well but there was not.
You dont need much explanation. "Fear is the path to dark side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering". Anakin was show her that the gear she has to be a soldier is no longer required. Fear then was an act of survival, not commitance to the darkside. He showed her the difference (as well as several other things) by simply asking her- do you want to live?
Our researchers in the archives discovered 1000 pages of new Legends lore is available online. Supernatural Encounters breakdown is imminent, Stupendous Wave?
This just makes me upset with Ahsoka, a little, to be honest. She clearly does not know the History of the Jedi Order and the Republic and their relationship to the Sith Order. The Jedi have always been instruments of war, but they have always fought the Sith. Ahsoka is not different than the previous Jedi, or far removed from the legacy of the Jedi, only undone by Sidious and the Rule of 2. The Jedi lost the war vs the sith hundreds of years before Ahsoka was even born, because while the Sith became calculated logical in their approach to victory, the Jedi remained the same. The Jedi wanted to be Keepers of Peace to the entire galaxy and doing so is impossible, when the sith only wanted to have revenge on the Jedi. The war changed but the Jedi did not. Ahsoka should know this because she should know their History. Does Ahsoka still not know of just how involved Sidious was in all of this? The galaxy is truly doomed without Luke.
I don't think she was even close to turning dark. I don't think her eyes started to change either, I think they were just refracting the light of the red blade. I fully agree with the rest of this though. Great vid. :)
I wouldn’t say she was close to turning dark, but she was definitely thinking dark side thoughts at the time. She was angry and aggressive in that moment. Whether her eyes actually turned or it was just a reflection it makes for a good visual motif either way. It was her moment of choice to either embrace those dark side thoughts and feelings or to let them go, and she let it go.

Dave give humanity to the effect of wars to jedi, padawans and clones
I believe your assessment is perfect. I believe this is how it was meant to be for her and her master. I wish some of your podcasters on other channels saw this as you do. this makes me feel a lot better about following channels like yours.
I thought it was just the reflection of the red lightsaber on her already light eyes
Same! I didn't even give it a second thought until now!
IMO her eyes changing was the coolest part of the series so far. And that's a very high bar.
Hayden Christensen absolutely knocked it out of the park with this performance!!
Jedi Master Ahsoka Tano. Got a nice ring to it.
I'm not gonna lie, seeing Padawan Ahsoka in live action got me misty eyed
She obviously was depressed and had a lot of baggage since she’s been back. I think that little moment was just her revealing it and letting it go. I think that moment was the whole point of the “training.”
Also important to note, Anakin was only 19 when training Ahsoka. And yeah, that's when a lot of people go to war, he was also a general and responsible for far more than he should have been. The Clone Wars broke both of them.
Its crazy because i just watched the video on how qui gon had a similar conflict i see her legacy within her forsure truly a jedi a warrior and most of all a ronin
This is great explanation for why she was so close to joining Maul on Mandalore.
Sometimes you just want to get close to the dark side, stare it in the eye knowing full well you will not let it in, that you can tell it f-off and walk away.
This is the best breakdown of the episode that I’ve watched yet. Very interesting points.
So, Anakin becomes the master to Ahsoka that he never had?
He was able to pick her up, as her master, in a way Obi Wan never could for him.
An awesome seen would’ve been with Anakin knighting Ashoka a true Jedi knight!! With the slight silhouette of force ghost Yoda Obi Wan Qui Gon Jin & even PLO Koon there as well.
We truly need to protect Dave Filoni at all costs!
YOu know what, it reminds me of the training in the cave on Dagobah, both in canon with LUke. and in legends with Kyp Durron
Way better in life action. They should do a live action remake of the clone wars series. That would be awsome.
Was Honestly just wondering about this great timing
Missed opportunity not having Anakin Knight her before leaving.
Yoda did say, War does not make one great. It is the nature of Jedi naturally abhor War where as Sith embraces War and conflict
Great observations of your assessment now things are clear, wisdom, do you have my friend? May the force be with you?
Vader when he came out was like: "Anakin let me out Imma make her understand the lesson."
That’s one thing the Jedi struggled with even after Luke started his own academy. Still feared and denied the dark side instead of embracing that part of them. The only one who did on screen was Yoda during the clone wars
Very insightful. Thanks for the video.
This is the ONLY example where a live action remake of Disneys would make me want more. Live Action Clone Wars...yes, please.
After Episode 8 and 9 i never thought that i would be that invested in SW again. Ahsoka is the perfect example how great SW could have been
People are saying Ahsoka beat Anikan in combat but that wasn't even a real duel. She was just seeing her life flash between her eyes. (She actually lost her duel. -Against Baylan.)
Ahsoka did duel Darth Vader once in real life. She lost. Luckily, Ezra reached out and grabbed her from The WBW. Pulling her to safety.
This lesson for Ahsoka it's far more hard-hitting in live-action
I viewed it as more that Ahsoka has finally forgiven herself for things that she had no control over. She chooses to live for more than her given lot in life.
This episode will require multiple viewings to get all the fullness of what it was saying. Incredible episode.
I thought that seeing the Anakin and Ahsoka interact during the Clone Wars in live action form was really cool
Video idea- what if Ahsoka marched on the Jedi Temple with Vader during operation Nightfall?
Ahsoka is the best SW we have gotten since Disney bought it. If this isn’t a wake up call to Disney to make Dave Filoni and Jon Faverau as the leaders of Star Wars in its entirety….Idk what will.
Sorry, but normies are confused by this show and barely anyone but hardcore fans watch it. It's like people wanting Andor to be a wake up call to Disney but never watching it.
The most watched show was Obi-Wan, so they looked at that and said, okay, make more stupid shit like that, they seem to like it 😂
If Disney doesnt doe some sort of Live action with Hayden then they are pathetic. Nobody is going to care his age doesnt match up.
Since the Clone Wars was created by Palpatine, we can see how his hands are basically everywhere in Star Wars, even years after his "death"
*Ahsoka was stronger at 14 than most of the enemies she was fighting besides some of the Sith. Ahsoka is worthy.*
Anakin has basically become god. Now that Eddie izzard sketch makes sense.
I loved this episode. These latest Star Wars series have been so powerful in their story telling that I can't get enough now!
Force God Anakin Taught Ashoka well 🔥
Some people think is the reflection of the red lightsaber made her eyes red.
How about explaining why anakin switched between the light and dark side in this episode
They said it was just the contacts reacting to red
Yeah I felt it too made the clones real different
Great analysis!
It's was also her life flashing before her
You dont need much explanation. "Fear is the path to dark side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering".
Anakin was show her that the gear she has to be a soldier is no longer required. Fear then was an act of survival, not commitance to the darkside. He showed her the difference (as well as several other things) by simply asking her- do you want to live?
anakin was a younger child soldier he got over it after some catharsis
It looks like a reflection of the red saber tbh
Sorry if I am stepping on another thought but maybe she had the Will power like scary Yoda.
This is her cave on Dagobah.
I don't think she was even close to turning dark. I don't think her eyes started to change either, I think they were just refracting the light of the red blade. I fully agree with the rest of this though. Great vid. :)
Her eyes definitely turned yellow for a bit
I wouldn’t say she was close to turning dark, but she was definitely thinking dark side thoughts at the time. She was angry and aggressive in that moment. Whether her eyes actually turned or it was just a reflection it makes for a good visual motif either way. It was her moment of choice to either embrace those dark side thoughts and feelings or to let them go, and she let it go.
Ashoka should use Anakin’s lightsaber spin and the disarm move against the dark Jedis.
Jedis are monsters with the ability to control themselves.
When the time came..the force needed anakin to be darth vader...to bring balance to the force. This is the sacrifice required to be the chosen one.
