That is a great knot. I was camping out several years ago when I accidentally pulled my cord out and made this knot, and it worked vs the wind and rain, and in a pinch. The storm was on us during setup. Thank you for your videos and God bless you and your family.
My favorite is i leave the ropes on my tarp (larks head with bowline) and i add a prusik hitch to the rope. The prusik loop is big enough to do a larks head on the stick/tent peg (stick i grabbed). I can slide it up and down and super gast and easy to set up and take down. Sometimes I'll swap it around and put the larks head end in the tarp side. mplicity of it. However, i might try this method, i love the simplicity of it. Sure one can't adjust, but it's so easy to redo in seconds and no risk of losing the prusik loop. Go hammocks!
I don't know how I missed this video, but it is a great knot. This knot is actually used by craftsman in various trades and the most common name for it is a "Mason knot" or a "Carpenters knot."
It's not common that I run into something I haven't thought of doing or have done before. This is one of those, "wow what a great idea and why haven't I thought of or heard of this before"!?! Thanks for sharing!
Takes only a tithe the time & effort to make a trucker's hitch, which would have been my choice in tightening a line to a peg/stake lacking a hook or angle. Will remember. Excellent!
Seems to me there are two parts to attaching a guy line to a straight tent peg: 1) The tension and 2) keeping the knot from sliding. The tension part is pretty easy... any of several knots will do (adjustable grip hitch, taut line hitch, etc). But they all have the problem that, tied the usual way, there's only a tiny bit of line providing friction with the peg. Seems like you hit on the answer: When tying to a peg, using any knot, wrap the line around the peg 3-4 times before completing the knot. This would probably work great with, say, the adjustable grip hitch. You still get the easy tension adjustment of the hitch but it should be far more resistant to sliding on the peg.
I recently found a 12x20x9 portable garage. I was thinking about using it for a family size hot tent. However, I was wondering if a large tent stove, and a heat induction fan. Would it be enough to heat the garage? Any suggestions?
Your phrase 'another tool for the toolbox' is spot on.👍
Dan helped me learn the truckers hitch. Thanks big Dan!

Now that's a new one. I'm for sure gonna use that. Thanks Brother.
Good to see that in bush-craft. I used this years and years ago to set string lines for batter boards for foundations in construction!
you tied the building down from blowing away, using custom tent pegs? damn 🤣
I did *knot* see that coming, but that's a nice trick to know. Thank you, Dan.
You do some of the best easy instructions Dan, thanks for KISS
Thank you for this video. That is a fantastic knot! Great tip!
Simple to do and easy to remember 👍
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY USA brother and thank you for sharing this information and other wood lore
Great tip, Dan. I'm gonna use that at Canyon de Chelly National Monument this coming weekend. Thanks for your time on that.
That super easy super useful stuff, makes for another great video
Very nice work Dan!

The best kind of knot - one you can probably do and undo with cold fingers.
So simple ... yet so effective
That storm passed through here a couple days ago. The only coating of snow we received all season.
Like how you take from your experiences to make our lives Better & Easier 👊
Thank you Dan 😎🤙
As genius as simple. Thank you, Dan!
All your videos are great. Thank you
Excellent. Thank you Dan... Awesome
Dude's like if Jason Bourne never became a CIA operative, and instead just got really into camping.
Right, Dan's like the MacGyver of knotwork!
He is a Bushcraft Wizard🔥
Man, once again, a educational video on camping/outdoors enjoyment! Thanks again for sharing.
Clove hitch with a alpine butterfly, pull taught, this guy is awesome, thanks for the advice

Freaking awesome 😮That’s magnificent.
Good one Dan
Another outstanding video 👍👍
Smart Dan, thanks 👍
Wow thank you!
I live in the high desert and find tips and tricks you overview very helpful
We use that when we run strings on construction.
Thanks from Germany
Wow hope it works I’m definitely gonna try it… Have fun stay safe.
excited to try this
Love this one! Thanks.
Very good tip thanks Brother 🇺🇸 🇳🇿
Simple and effective. Love it!
Awesome video
BRILLIANT!!! Thank you brother!
Great way to solve that problem!
Often, the simplest solution is the best. 👍
Awesome tip!

Very helpful. Thank you.
We do that with our string lines when we are setting up foundations on construction never thought to carry it over into tarp setups 👍
Love this solution!!😮😮
Good find
Colour me impressed. Glancing at the thumbnail I thought you expected people to brave adverse conditions and tie a constrictor knot on the stake 🤣
Excellent!
Use this for string lines in construction all the time.
Wow so simple 😎
Thanks!
We call that dallying in the cattle roping business!
Very clever!
Brilliant!
Cool for tripwires
Very Nice.

Awesome!!!
Oh yeah, easy is what I like:)
good tip!
Defo going to give that a go dude
Nice tip
Dan, were you on season 3 of the show ALONE?
Great tip 👍❤️
Nice👍
Very similar to a mason's line knot.
Wow!
👍👍

Can you do some overnighters
Love it
Neat!
Slick !😁
Great idea but I’d probably use a y branch
Whoop!Whoop!
👍❣️
I do have a legitimate question about the terminology though... would this be considered a knot or a hitch? Thanks!
Good tip! Why not do this all the time? 🤔
Oh that is slicker than sweat on a bald man's head
ok!
3 words Marlin spike hitch
K.I.S.S. Nice.
That's very knotty😂.
are you still cracking the coal bro? crack it

Hey Dan. Me again. Im still missing a reply on my mail from last month. I would really appreciate a reply from you guys. ^^
How much time should one dedicate to taunting their lines?
I prefer "Your mother is so fat..." taunts, are they effective for this application?
It’s the not knot!
