Here here! I really do appreciate actors who takes time to get to know and understand thier character than making up a whole new character bc they r too lazy to do the research.
@@danw91Or Henry Cavil, he read all the witcher books and played all the games before taking the role as Geralt of Rivia (he was really excited to play the role until he saw the script)
True and IMO, this graphic novel series is some of the finest ever written! The concept alone and how so many different people went into it's creation 🤯
And Tom Seduced us as dream, not only by his voice but look, coldness, behavior... He made us believe he IS the dreaming, Lord Morpheus... Tom Ate, and left no crumbs.
@@thomaskilroy4573JM is closer to the comics Morpheus in one aspect - his Morpheus sounds dutiful, political, also full of incredibly massive ego & pride. But series toned down his egoism, so this Morpheus is more dreamy, enchanting also he has one important side of him JM didn’t quite captured in audiobooks - comics Morpheus is depressed AF. Tom did a great job with that.
Only topped by the hope he embodies. Ugh literally just broke out in goosebumps all down my arms legs and face. 100000/10 - would absolutely believe tom capable of being the true Morpheus in another life or universe
@@XRyanK yes I have seen it several times and his duell with Lucifer morningstar gets me into tears everytimes. Especially in our dark violent age is hope what saves our souls. I LOOOVE THE SANDMANN
I've literally tried thinking of another actor who could have pulled this role off, and to this day am still coming up blank. Pretty much like Hugh Jackman is Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds is Deadpool, Tom is Dream of the Endless
He did an excellent job. You can feel the pain, the anger, the sadness, the joy, the disappointment and he doesn’t have to scream, yell, be overly animated or cartoonish. He killed it. Love this serious and the book
I think Neil gave the best answer possible. They are both artists, no reason to describe the intonation or the octave of Dream's voice, describe what it is to hear his voice, what would make you feel... and Tom sure as heck understood.
I absolutely love Morpheus voice and overall personality in the Sandman series he's got a Batman esque but with a darker and more mysterious feel to 🔥❤️💯😍
Its the kind of role that if done wrong would have ruined the entire show but if done right elevates it to another level. Season 2 happening shows how he handled it.
I had never seen or even heard of the sandman, then I was offered a few days work moving filming equipment between sets across the town they were filming in, now I’m obsessed, looking forward to the next season so I can see those scenes I saw being filmed on screen
Neil Gaiman is such a great story teller. I think everyone should listen to Neil Gaiman read his own work. It’s flipping brilliant. It elevates the story.
A fun thing for me as a fan from the U.S., was hearing certain familiar dialogue in a British inflection since I knew less about Gaiman when I first read the series in the 1990s and it had never occurred to me that any of the Endless might share his accent. Duh!😂
@@thomaskilroy4573 Yeah I "literally" typed that I knew less about Gaiman in the 90s when I first read the series so I wasn't keen on what he "literally said" about anything; if an inflection wasn't specified by the lettering, I didnt always assume the speaker was British. I guess he changed his mind, since KHB surely has a strong accent.
I honestly couldn't imagine Dream as anyone besides him. It wasn't just the voice he had the whole shebang. He nailed the strange gaze Dream has and in the comics Dream's eyes are usually just points of light under a darkened brow. He nailed it completely.
Sturridge and McAvoy did it differently but they each did the character so well. I wasn't disappointed with either the audiobook or the netflix series!
Great to see you back! The tins of peaches are on a multibuy in my local store 6 for £3. Ive also noticed our store's minimum refuction was 30% off now its 20😢
It has to be said that he nailed it. I appreciate that this is a funny anecdote which is a requirement and there are certain points that must be hit but aside from that you can indeed see the influence of that statement in Tom's portrait of The Dreaming.
Ah, I love when actors or directors of the film, talk about their craft, and just by what they say and how they say it you feel the amount of work and investigations they did to present us something great. It sounds kinda... tasty for me 😅 I immidiately want to make my job in at a such creative level.
I love James McAvoy as Dream in the Audible version and the two versions aren’t so different, so Neil might‘ve painted a character so clear that Dream‘s voice actually IS the one you hear in your mind when reading.
The voice. He kills it every time
Always respect someone who actually takes time to read the material and to understand the characters they are playing
Yes i am impressed,he also has a nice voice, perfect
That's why we love Elizabeth Olsen, she read Scarlet Witch comics way before having the chance to play her.

Mission successful. Because that's exactly how i would describe the Sandman's voice.
And Tom Seduced us as dream, not only by his voice but look, coldness, behavior... He made us believe he IS the dreaming, Lord Morpheus... Tom Ate, and left no crumbs.
Eh…I still think James McAvoy’s was better.

I mean McAvoy is an amazing actor, the pure versatility of the man to be able to play all the personalities in split on the fly.
You are so cringe, it’s unbelievable.
He really did.
He is both scary and ***seductive*** as the sandman. Perfectly casted, well done.
cast, not casted
Tbh his voice is the best part of the whole show.
"I am a universe, all life embracing"
Just thinking about it is giving me goosebumps😂
Honestly one of my favorite scenes in modern media.

The voice in your head that seduces you into sleep and had the danger of a nightmare....
That's possibly the most eloquent answer I've ever heard.
And he fucking nailed it, couldn't imagine a better casting choice.
Can't wait for season 2.
I've literally tried thinking of another actor who could have pulled this role off, and to this day am still coming up blank. Pretty much like Hugh Jackman is Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds is Deadpool, Tom is Dream of the Endless
It’s his voice that drew into the whole series. He totally nailed it.
He did an excellent job. You can feel the pain, the anger, the sadness, the joy, the disappointment and he doesn’t have to scream, yell, be overly animated or cartoonish. He killed it. Love this serious and the book
The seccond I heard him speak in the show, it was the voice inside my head.
Finally an actor that is a fan of the Comic and it shows. He makes for a fantastic Sandmann
I think Neil gave the best answer possible.

He seems very kind and humble. He's so excited about the character.
I love him. He's so cute and gorgeous, and does an excellent job playing the part ❤️
Tom needs to do an audiobook
Agreed. Also, as an insomniac, ironically and appropriately, I would ❤️ him to do a fall asleep audio in his Morpheus voice. It's so soothing!
@@theeimp Me toooo. I have sandman ost and Tom's voice as Morpheus as my 'lure me into the dreaming' playlist

He killed it on this show. Bravo
Massive points to an actor taking these roles seriously, doing research and being passionate about the source material.

That last part is the best part of the answer.

Tom IS Morpheus. Cannot imagine anyone else doing the role justice.
You did such an incredible job, sir. I'm very excited for round 2! "Sound of her wings" is my all time favorite episode of anything.. ever.
I loved the sandman. I couldn't think of somebody else for this role❤
Wow bc that’s exactly how his voice turned out excellent work
Neil Gaiman is such a great story teller. I think everyone should listen to Neil Gaiman read his own work. It’s flipping brilliant. It elevates the story.

No wonder i was feeling like a dream when watching it. Perfect

He literally said that all Endless are supposed to sound English except Death and Desire.

I definitely fell in love with the character and actor!!!
So did I
You did it perfectly
We need more of the series! One season isn't enough!!!😭
There will be. Just wait a little.
and he NAILED IT!!!😭❤️
A great explanati9n given to a great actor who used it well to create a fantastic voice that fit perfectly.
1.) He makes that earring work.
2.) He's stunning.
3.) His Dream voice is perfect.
4.) I cannot wait for season 2!
Sturridge and McAvoy did it differently but they each did the character so well. I wasn't disappointed with either the audiobook or the netflix series!
It was what drew me in at the beginning. Well done.
I completely binge watched the whole season right when it came out. Loved it! Hoping and waiting for a season 2!
Ughh he’s so handsome 😩
He really nailed it
Mission accomplished by both Tom AND by James McAvoy who did the radio/podcast. 💜
Great to see you back!

It was so great ... Reality becomes blurred
It sounds like Tom Sturridge in the show, and it sounds like James Mcavoy in the audiobooks… perfection.
He killed it every time indeed best voice ever
Bro nailed it. Sandman is a stud when he talks
And he freaking nails that descriptions. I can't imagine any other person to play and voice sandman
You managed perfectly. I loved it and I think you got the voice perfectly.

Love him since Like Minds ❤
Oh he looks lovely with a little shadow on his face❤
He's the Perfect Sandman ❤❤❤
I didn't think much of the books, but this show was a lot of fun 🎉.
He did a terrific job. They all did.
And somehow you nailed it! Kudos to you sir!❤❤😊
Tom really did nail the voice as if he was meant for that role
The Voice is phenomenal !
His voice sells the series to me.
My favorite young actor. Series 2 is coming 😂
I can't imagine sandman without him
This voice right there is the voice
Post discussion had me dying 😂😂😂😂 great reaction as always 💯💯💯

Probably the most beautiful character that I can remember recently. DEATH as well. Watching inspired to seek out a deeper understanding of EVERYTHING

I wondered what his normal speaking voice sounded like. Can't wait to see what he does next.
And he nailed it
He really did nail it
The reasoning behind it makes sense 100%
just excellent show
ABSOLUTE LEGEND
He did the voice perfectly.
it’s the voice you’ve been hearing as you read the story! (i’ve never heard of the sandman before but i’m very interested now haha)
And, you literally, who I imagine Sandman based in the graphic novel would look like!
One of the best shows ever made
Well, he nailed it 😊
You rock man!
He nailed it
I think he nailed it.
Well he definitely figured it out. His Morpheus is perfect
We want more please
He is SO handsome!
Somehow that advice worked! The Sandman voice is perfect! Tantalizing & seductive like dreams that become nightmares.
I hope they make a season 2
Show is awesome 👍🏻😎
It was so epic! Tom killed it!
Yep, thats the voice that'll be in my head for a while
Luv the voice
I always heard a bit of Alan Rickman's snape voice. That monotone just suits it well
In my head his voice was much deeper. But otherwise, his cadence and tone is so spot-on to me
He’s so beautiful. 🤍🖤
I think he nailed it
