Epic album with The Cure at their best playing wise

The Kiss me tour was my first ever concert so it will always very special for me. I prefer the Cure's darker material, but this album is still my curealbum - actually an odd feeling.

I listed my own The Cure top ten songs for fun. The Kiss ended up as no. 1

I revisited this album recently, mostly to try and figure how I felt their newest album fared amongst the rest of their work (Songs of a Lost World is in my top 5 Cure albums! It was a good way to celebrate Halloween). Kiss Me x3 is far too long to feel cohesive for me, but the actual quality of all the songs is really good. What I would usually consider weak points for an album ended up adding to the vibe I got from it: the album feels kind of like a lazy, unplanned Sunday at home with someone you love, with nothing really to do. Or maybe it’s more like a memory constructed from multiple Sundays, all the ways you remember feeling. Even the more mundane memories feel like an adventure when you recall how you felt the most vividly.
Anyway, good luck on the next Cure video. Disintegration is their best album, so I imagine there will be a lot to talk about.

Oh that's an interesting way to describe, as a lazy Sunday type thing. That's quite fitting, I think. I definitely saw it as more of a party album like I said, but it's interesting that both of those descriptions work, imo. I suppose it's because the album is kind of a blur? I do like that description of "a memory constructed from multiple Sundays" which is super interesting. Honestly, I think "The Snakepit" is the best track for representing this idea of it being a blur, despite being one of the quite different tracks on the album.
And I feel similar about SOALW, with it being a top 5 record. I was telling a friend this, that it may even be a top 3 for me. But, of course, I have a bit before I'll get to that video, so I have time to make up my mind haha
And yes, Disintegration will be a long one to cover for sure. Not looking forward to it, honestly haha. THOTD vid was like 31 mins long? So I imagine Disintegration will be longer, especially since it was the first album by the Cure that I listened to, so it holds special memories

Thank you for the compliment. And I can definitely see an argument being made for the new album being a top 3, because I considered that too. I'll have to wait and see if I'm swayed!
It will certainly be difficult since it's a big project, even more so if you have a lot of memories associated with it, because it's hard to get it all down in a few words and feel like you did it justice. But struggling in creativity can herald some kind of growth. Even if you don't like working on it now, maybe the time spent on it will be another precious memory when you look back on it.

FINALLY! You’re back! Can’t WAIT to hear your opinion on their most recent album! Personally I favor this album over “The Head on the Door.” I disagree, I feel “Kiss Me” is EVEN MORE varied stylistically than their previous album. It’s a wild album and they’ve never made an album quite like this before or since in their career. My personal Cure ranking up until this point is:
    1. Pornography
    2. Faith
    3. Seventeen Seconds
    4. Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me
    5. The Head on the Door
    6. The Top
    7. Japanese Whispers
    8. Three Imaginary Boys

Yeah, like I said, talking about The Cure for several albums in a row is a lot lol. Like, I love them, but listening to the records on repeat, along with the editing, it was just a lot. Might have to record multiple vids at once, then edit them or something, to make it more manageable.
SOALW is great, and I actually think it pulls more from their post Bloodflowers stuff a lot more than people would give it credit for. It'll be fun to talk about when I get there
And yeah, KMx3 was actually a record I didn't love until recently, so I might come to like it even more in the future. Anything's possible lol

@ That IS a lot of work! I commend you man for doing your in-depth homework on these pivotal albums and including lineup changes within the band. I’m also really glad you’re into their early “gothic trilogy.” It’s my personal favorite era of the band. I agree on your stance of “Songs of a Lost World.” For me, there are a lot of call-backs to the “Disintegration” and “Bloodflowers” days. It’s a heartbreaking and beautiful body of work that easily fits in with some of their greatest achievements. Thank you again for all you do. Keep it up man!

Thank you for the kind words! Yeah, I love the gothic trilogy, so it was pretty cool to be able to talk about them recently, especially because I'd wanted to talk about Faith for a good while. The new album just gave me a reason to sit down and make the videos haha.
      Thanks again. Appreciate it!

Kiss was good but also doesn't really stand out I guess is the vibe

      @noahmcalister  Месяц назад

Yeah, I don't think that's a wrong way of putting it. It's great, but it doesn't resonate with me as much as their goth stuff, just on an emotional level

I’m going to be honest and every time I say this many cure fans come after me and as a cure fan I think this album is overrated

Yeah tbh I didn't like this album much until recently, so I get that. I do think it's one of their more silly records tbh, but I really like it now
