made my screen four months ago using these instructions precisely. The only difference is that I added felt tape around my screen. Thanks so much for these directions they are the easiest I have found. I am not very mechanically inclined and I was still able to build mine over a night.
Many years ago, when people projected SD TV, a DIY screen substitute was some sort of building panel gotten at a HD or Lowes (not sheet rock; some sort of acrylic panel). I didn't purchase a projector at that time but was intrigued by the various methods people used to create large, inexpensive screens. I can't find any reference to that product now. Does anybody know or remember this? It seems to me that a rigid or semi rigid panel would make sense over stretching a fabric over a frame. Especially when I see that some people prefer a white wall over an expensive screen.
Unrelated to the BlackOutCloth screen-build, but plain flat/matte paint hides imperfections on the wall AND costs about half as much as the satin/eggshell it looks like was used on your wall. That might be another option sometimes.
That IS another option, lol. I keep looking at the Vizio E65/E70 since a refurbished one is under $1000, but the 2016models are apparently giving up their tuner/channel function which would mean no broadcast and no cable..way to save $2 Vizio.
That was a really long time ago so I do not remember. But here's a link to one for $69 www.ebay.com/itm/Elite-Screens-Manual-B-Series-100-inch-Diagonal-43-Pull-Down-Projection-Manua-/254940382081?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286
Just curious, why couldn't you just fill those imperfections? There is another video on youtube where the uploader has done this. I just felt your wall solution was good enough.
VERY NICE work!! 1 question though... if you were to paint the back wall black (or any other dark hue) before hanging your projection screen, would that remedy the visibility of seeing the back wall show through the screen, or will it just have an even bigger negative effect on the picture quality??? I'm just asking because I intend to build my own projection screen as well, and I'd like to get the best picture quality I can (well, at least the best picture quality one can get when they build their own projection screen, LOL). #ThanksInAdvance!!!
Always a better idea to buy a real screen via Amazon.com or even direct thru an outlet or dealer. They're as cheap as $25 brand new! So, forget the mess & headache. Your time, money & effort cost more than it does just to buy a new one online, factory direct. Oh, and not to mention the gas, wear & tear on your car fetching the supplies needed. So, do yourself a favor. Buy the right proper screen for your particular projector for as cheaply as possible. You're wallet & nerves will be thankful.
30 to $50 is far less expensive than 80 to 100. Also this option lets you fit the exact dimensions of the space you have. And also it takes 1-2hours tops.

Brother! What is the use of felt tape on a projector screen?
Great job man....I'm building one myself....different method but it's nice to sit back and say I built this myself....thanks for sharing!
For a indoor use projector screen. Simply purchase a 4 X 8 sheet of dry-wall. Hang it with 2-4 screws. Paint it Flat White. Done! Under $30 bucks!
Dan Levine I did the same thing but I used black paint for the same amount have a excellent time and don’t forget the popcorn

I replaced the paint with the screen. Then decided to just go with a 70" LED

You could use rock wool in the movie pictures to double as sound absorbers to get that professional quality audio. I will give yoir screen a go
Good Job, Man.

cool video. But aaahhhh the floor squeaks!!
from where you bought the blackout screen. thanks
MR M S ALI got mine from carlofet.com
why you put it on that small wall when you have the other wall with so much space? makes no sense
Because of the distance needed to create a large image. Makes perfect sense. Thanks for viewing!
You need to be able to place the projector further back.
Cos he needed that throw distance for the larger pic.i guess it makes sense to you now.

What's the real screen you speak of for that price? You're not talking about those crappy ones that say wrinkle free but aren't are you?
But it’s a white screw never go with white no color !
a screen is about $80 to $100, how cheap are you?
Chris C not everyone has 100 to pay for a screen
Chris Curnan a screen you purchase won't fit the exact dimensions of your wall the way a do-it-yourself screen will.
Show me a bezel less screen for under $100 CAD
