Pinwheels is a learn to read/write curriculum from Rooted in Language. It is intended for children who have very little to no reading experience. It's an excellent program that we love!
I love math u are and my older kids don’t do only my youngest and nephew are using it!!! I’ve heard brave writer is a fun writing program!!! I like Setting writing assignments for other subjects and my kids love not having too much writing!!! I love that lour language arts curriculum has spelling rules and our spelling curriculum is phonics based and I feel like it’s an awesome combo for my kids!!! We love unit studies!!!
I do love Math U See. It just makes sense to my brain. LOL. We love Brave Writer, but we use more of the lit guides than the writing portion, but I do like the gentle approach it takes for sure! What program are you using that has spelling rules included? Unit Studies rock!
@@Homeschoolology TGTB but we don’t use the rest of the spelling stuff in the curriculum due to it not working but it’s working for my youngest at the moment but level 3 or 4 they change the way they teach spelling and my older kids find it hard!!! We use AAS for spelling!!! We’ve not got very far tho as we have seen issues!!!
Hi! Have you given up on Logic of English Essentials for spelling? I just wondering what your thought were because I’m going to try the online version for the first 7 lesson to see if it’s a good fit or not. Also my now 4th grader loves Evan Moor’s real world writing❤.
I have not used Logic of English with my 2nd daughter yet. We found Pinwheels and never looked back. I also do not have an experience with the online version since that was not available when I used it with my oldest daughter. But I do think Logic of English is a quality program and would absolutely recommend trying it out. Now that you mention it, I may actually look into it for spelling with my rising 4th grader. But Sequential Spelling is really easy, and easy gets done around here. LOL Thank you for sharing your experience with Real World Writing! That is great to hear that your 4th grader is enjoying it.
Yay for 4th graders! We used BYL when my oldest was in 1st grade and part of 2nd grade years. I liked it for the most part. Back them they used Story of the World which I didn't love, but we enjoyed most of the other subjects. For me the hardest part was that we were not getting everything done for the day and then feeling "behind" all of the time. I'm someone who has a hard time leaving a check box un-checked and so it was a struggle for us to keep up. I have learned many lessons since that time and now I don't think that would be as much of an issue for us anymore. I feel much more comfortable taking what we like and leaving the rest. So we will actually be using BYL Level 8 with my oldest. I wish it was a little more open and go, but I love that most of the research has been done for me. I say try it out. Blossom & Root is very similar to BYL in the amount of structure. The major difference is that there is a separate guide for each subject as opposed to one big guide. I don't have as much experience with that one, but I know people who use it usually feel similar to people who use BYL. Nicole at The Secular and Free Homeschool has some videos that shows the inside of both curriculums if you would like a closer look at them. I have not tried Math Mammoth yet. We have used Math U See, Teaching Textbooks, and the book version of Beast Academy. I have a video that compares those three if that would be helpful to you. Sorry for the book! LOL
Thank u so much for your thorough and honest response 😊. I’ve meshed B&R’s River of voices with CKHG & BookShark ( history ) but I haven’t tried anything else from B&R. I’m also currently using BYL Darwin/ evolution study but haven’t tried anything else from there either. I’m still fairly new to the homeschooling world and still trying to find mine & my daughters learning style 🤔. In the world of curriculums ( secular & neutral ) there is SO much to choose from, it’s definitely overwhelming at time’s. I feel like I’ve earned a ton from people like u but it also feels like being a homeschooling mom is a job u never stop learning from.
@@badkitty3169 Girl! You hit the nail on the head! Being a homeschooling mom is 1000% a job you never start learning from. And just when you think you are figuring it out, another kiddo is going to come along and be completely different. Thank goodness for the wonderful homeschool community here and on other platforms. I couldn't imagine trying to figure this all out without them. And while we are fortunate to have so many curriculum options now, it does make it difficult to narrow down the sea of choices. But I don't think you can go wrong with BYL or B&R. To me they are very similar, its just which layout do you prefer.
What is pin wheel?

I have a rising 4th grader too so thank you for sharing. I really want to get that philosophy for kids too. It looks great.
Yay for 4th graders! Happy to share. Philosophy for Kids is really great. Totally worth the investment. We have used it for several years now.
