I have been doing this ponytail cut for years, even with a bob when it hits the shoulders. All you need is the front hairline ponytail. I square off the bottom back of my hair a little, because it grows in a V
For us with social anxiety that cannot face a salon, these tutorials are a life saver. You're amazing. And something about flinging that mannequin head around is so maniacally hilarious. ^_^
It just healps it sit naturally as i havent blowdried it!! but check out the salon version coming soon! The anxiety of going to a hair salon can be conquered by getting a great recommenation, then going to that stylist for a consultation.
@@PaulWattsHair Question about your butterfly hair cut video which I loved. How many inches long is half? I like the length you kept on the Mannequin. And I have mid back hair length.
I love these tutorials. Please don’t stop. I’m 71 and I gave myself the 2 pony tail wolf cut you did. It came out great. I did the point cutting just like you. I find that by doing it myself, I get what I want. I don’t always get that at a salon. Something must get lost in the translation. I also color my hair in a light warm blonde.
I am going to assume you’ve sectioned from top of head behind ears? I wish you’d done a side view of the two ponytails . I’ll just give it a go and let you know how it comes out. I love these videos thank you.
Everytime you upload a ponytail cut, I do it on myself and love it. These are my favourite videos. I’ve been wondering how to do this cut, thank you for uploading this!❤️
Ok, I'm going to date myself. Back in the '70's there was the Farrah Fawcett hair. The cut was referred as the "surf cut". I had grown my hair straight down my back. The cut was a pony cut then. Except all the hair was pulled from the back forward & then cut to measure in the front. Great when one wanted a layered cut with hair to the waist. Easier on the arms. All one had to do was just fine tune the areas that one wanted. I've done this upon request 3x's in my career as a stylist. I can't tell you how happy these clients were when they found out I knew the cut & wasn't the type to be afraid to do it.
So cool! I used to watch reruns of Charlie’s Angels and loved all their haircuts! I’ve apparently been getting the butterfly haircut for over 20 years apparently so I’m glad I’m on trend 🤣 Anytime I’d walk out of a salon and felt it looked like Farrah Fawcett’s hair, they actually got it right!! 💓 I just cut mine for the first time! Looks good but not Farrah Fawcett 🤣
thanks for a great video. Just one thought though, I find it difficult to see with dark hair and dark background. Either better lighting or contrasting colours would be better.
I could be mistaken, but is her left side much longer? If not, I apologize. Also can you show us exactly where you parted it and explain where and how long the layers are and how much is the face framed? Thanks!
I am a cosmologist of over 30 year . Yes its uneven . Never cut chunks of hair , take small sections . That is a Mannequin not a real head of hair . Please don’t do this . Watch hair Buddha he will help you with cutting or coloring your hair if you are stuck at home . ✌🏼 This is a fail except when he flung it around in circles ! That was funny . Comedy but the hair cut is tragedy .
Beautiful cut! Thank you! I was a stylist for 15 years, but cancer took me off the floor, which was heartbreaking! 😭😭 It's still my 1st love! ♥️♥️ So, now I'm watching RUclips vids to keep up on how-to's on current trends lolol One thing I would ask: when you're cutting the ponytails themselves, a side view would be SOO helpful! That way we could *see* the angles that you're cutting at. **Especially** when instructing people to do it at home. Otherwise, gorgeous look & thanks again! 😊😊
In case you're still wondering, someone else (a lot of people actually, including myself) made the same comment..to show the points where the parts were made for each ponytail and I noticed he had replied back to someone. His suggestion was to catch his "latest" video, he had used the same parts. So this video was posted on August 14...I would start scrolling up from that point and you'll probably figure out which video he was referring to, at the time of his reply.
You have amazing skills and I used to have this cut back in the day. Maybe next time use a blonde model or wear a white t-shirt because it was very difficult to see with the dark hair and the black tee. Thanks 😊
Great idea! My only suggestion would be that you wear a light colored shirt b/c with the mannequin’s hair being dark, the screen the back being dark, & your shirt being black, it’s hard to see for those of us who want to do this at home.
Thank you so much for this. Going to a salon gives me anxiety and I'm not good at someone touching my hair 😞 I did your wolf cut on myself a month ago and I love it! Lovely layers for my flat Asian hair 👍 Thank you for this one, can't wait to try it!
Paul, you are an absolute rockstar! I just cut my own hair and LOVE the result! (I went to a salon few weeks ago and wanted the same thing but it turned out nothing like it) so thank you!
I love your ponytail hair tutorials but on this one you didn’t show us were to put the part and it would be great if you wore a lighter color shirt so we could see better please!! 😊
Great video once again! I think if you could use a lighter color of hair we could see it better ;it was just hard to see the final look but still loved the video as I do all of yours. You have an incredible personality ! 🙏🏻
Yes! This is what I've been waiting for! Thank you and looks super easy! Once my hair grows long enough, i will try this! Your ponytail videos have helped me understand overdirection. Excited for the next one.
Thank you for this video. I've been looking for this haircut for a while now. For me, going to salon, I always end up with the shortest hair, they tend to cut it a lot and I find this very annoying. So I learned a lot from youtube tutorials. Maybe hair not turning out perfect, but at least, I control the lenght or how much I'm taking from it!
Paul, I got this haircut for you. Its beautiful and really gives life to hair that was long and dull. I went immediately to Great clips and found the one person who knew what this haircut style was. Thank you for your videos I now know what to ask for and how to better explain what I want my hair to do. Definitely a great cut, I like that its a little less shaggy then the wolf, great job.
Thank you sooooooo much. I was unable to see my barber because my whole family became ill and also he charges $100 now a cut. So I used your methods and my husband said it looks better than when my stylist cuts it!! CHEERS! :D
I like how you don't have to cut the hair after it's taken down like some people blend the back to the front but you don't really have to consider already connected
I did this cut to myself 2-3 months ago and not only did it work, it’s PERFECT!🤌 The way it looks & lays, also happens to be the exact same way that I have tried explaining to hairdressers for years about how I wanted my hair cut!!😂 Side note: I have 2b/2c hair and blown out, this cut is a 10/10.👍
How about if I have a bob... Which I did watching you 3 ponytail cut and it came out great, but it's already growing out. Can I do that one? Please show a video of a shorter version. Thanks 👍 I think you're Great!!! 😃
Hi Paul!! Thanks for showing these hair tutorials! I don’t do cutting myself, except a bang trim. I like to see the results from the ponytail method! I am going to watch your Professional one as well. I like this layered cut Better! Like you mentioned it is a softer layering and effect. Hope you have a Great Week!!
Good to know that this style is going to be all the rage - my hair is already layered in this way! Excellent!😁👏 The only difference is that I have naturally wavy hair with a little bit of curl.
Please straigten out the head because it looks off... like one side is way longer than the other so it's actually hard to tell if it is all the same length... I did your wolf cut on myself and came out pretty good (needs some touch up) but also did on my daughter whi has much thicker hair and wasn't as good. Do love your tutorials either way though :)
Thank you for showing me how to do my next haircut! I've only had my hair cut professionally a few times, but was disappointed each time so I cut it myself.
How does this cut work on fine hair.....with a medium weight? This cut is so cute. Please also let me know exactly where to separate and part each section. Thank you ❤️
There's never too much hair spray lol. I will be doing this or trying too! Thanks so much for this, but I do wish u would've done a better job at showing the sides of the face more. But either way thank u so much!!🌹

Will this work on longer hair? What happens if you cut less than half, will you still get a nice graduated look? My hair is down to my lower back and really thick, and I'm ready to lose some length and weight, but don't know if I'm ready to go as short as the mannequin! Thanks. 🙂
I've done it! Nicest haircut I've ever had! A pitty though, that you didn't show the head from the side. I didn't know where to draw the line by the ears. I took the middle of the ear and came out good. Than you so much!!! 💜
Great! But we need the side and top view so we can see where you make the parts to pull forward and up

I can't do salons. I'm hearing impaired and the noise just irritates me and the hair dresser always talks too much.
Can I suggest showing how you sectioned the ponytails and possibly zooming in a little so the viewer can see a closer view?
