Using Straws to Promote Aerial Roots on Banyan Style Ficus Bonsai

I use straws to create a mini humid microclimate that keeps the growing tips of the roots from drying out as they grow toward the soil. Its also a great way to guide the roots to the place I want them.

It really works well for me. It appears that most of the roots have grown into the soil so I plan on doing an update video where I take the straws off in the next week or so.
