The second you pulled out that devastator shell I started laughing, I don’t know why, probably your silence and the fact that the combine mode is a shell
Honestly don’t mind the combined mode, I view it as one solid piece of combiner kibble, the G1 toy had separate hands, hips ,chestplate, etc, so having it all condensed like this makes sense and harder to misplace
I much, much prefer the Iron Factory way of doing combiners. For example with their Bruticus, all the combiner parts can combine into a trailer for Onslaught that he can tow Blast Off on, and if you have them in robot mode the combiner parts turns into a bust of Bruticus that you can display. If you have these guys separated, you just have a mutilated Devastator you can't do anything with.
Considering how well each individual figure is, I understand why the combined mode uses a shell, but I also get why others won’t like it. I’m not a fan shells that can’t be incorporated into the transformations, like the Legacy Stunticons are rumored to be.
Everything will incorporate on the legacy stunticons the trailer just won’t be part of motormaster, kinda like the POTP optimus except the trailer has a gun emplacement mode too
Ok. I have some inside info about legacy menesor. Honestly idk how much of this im allowed to say so don't tell anyone. From what I know, motormaster will be commander class. His trailer will for a large chunk of the menesor torso, but motormaster will incorporate into it. It'll be a kingdom rodimus situation where motormaster himself is around voyager size but the trailer is very well made
I don't mind the core "Hephaestus" piece. The combined mode in the end looks really good and doesn't compromise the individual 'bots vehicle and robot modes.
I can understand the hate for them, because the entire combiner is usually motermaster's trailer. If you want to make a combiner, at least incorporate all the parts correctly. (Fanstoys, ya done good)
The combine mode is honestly why I like TFC's Hercules so much. 90% of the "combiner kibble" with the base set is worked into the robots themselves, and I absolutely adore that set because of it

I have discovered that if you want to make this even more like the G1 Cartoon, you can remove Scavenger's excavator arm/boom to make it look more blockish looking.
So what you're saying is that you put together a makeshift giant robot with 6 smaller transformers and a giant robot. But yeah when going for cartoon accuracy that notoriously took many liberties with the relative size and weight of things this is an ok compromise to make.
My main issue with how Newage handled this is that the torso doesn't do anything else... I know it is a little much to ask, considering what they accomplished with what they did do, and I can appreciate that, and I don't really know what else they could have done, but something like what iron factory's D.J.D. combiner did with the bust would have been satisfactory, imo. Just make it fold up somehow? It is a very similar reason why I dont have a problem with most modern Menasor combiners using the trailer as a frame; sure, its pretty much the same concept, but the trailer actually DOES something other than be a frame for Menasor. Again, i know its a lot to ask, but i feel like they could have done SOMETHING. I normally don't comment on problems like this (or at least try not to) unless I have an idea to add to the conversation or add a possible solution. In hindsight, I do like what they did do, what with all the moving gimmicks, and I'm glad it worked out as well as it did, it just isn't for me. I have other opinions about this, but I will leave those out, since I only have complaints there, heh. Thank you for attending my TED talk, lol
