I’ve seen countless caricature carvings but your the first to really explain and demonstrate in detail how you go about creating your figures so I really appreciate your teaching method. I’m hooked! 😊

Great video Van. I really like this way of carving the face. After our last class together, I have more understanding and confidence with how to go about carving a face. Well see how it goes after a little more practice.

Good evening Van. I am 70 years old and just started on this enjoyable journey. I have one question that will solve two of my question by finding out is the wood I'm using to hard or are the tools I purchased not sharp. The type of wood and where to purchase would be greatly apricated.

I am fairly new also, I started with a Murphy knife, they are affordable ($25) they hold an edge great and can be used for most carvings. You can upgrade later!
As for the wood, most common is basswood it is easy to carve, I buy it from Heineke wood start with practice sticks in 1”, 1-1/2” and 2” Hope this helps!
