@@tlist1970 I also met him when I was 16. Surrounded by 7-8 beautiful girls at a hotel in a hallway. He was larger than life and literally commanded the room with his presence. That same night I also met and spent some time with EVH. Unforgettable night!
I met Dave in 1999. He is this way in real life. It is not an act. This man enjoys life to the fullest. He is also very kind and gracious to his fans. He is the nicest celebrity I ever met.

That’s his schtick. He’s been a rock star for 40 plus years, that’s what he knows.. In the early 2000’s he worked as a paramedic and I’m sure he wasn’t being an ass clown and joking around when he’s resuscitating someone who just had a heart attack. But as David Lee Roth, the singer, he’s a showman. Don’t take it so serious.

Also, there's a great interview with Michael Anthony by Jas Obrecht (and others) and gives detailed information about Roth and his ego and bad attitude. But he was creative. Van Hagar doesn't hold a match to Van Halen.

Mr. DLR was my teenage mentor. The 70's / 80's....the man had the planet in his pocket. He is an orchestrator supreme! He has lived lives many times over that the average can only dream of. Hats off to you Dave.....enjoy your ( retirement). He may not perform on stage again ( doubtfull) but he will always be creating until he drops in some form or another! Thank you !

Would love to get high with D.L.R....just quietly listen to him talk about whatever comes off the top of his dynamic crazy eccentric mind. One of the best rock and roll entertainers of our time. Was incredible to experience two concerts from Van Halen's '78 debut tour...back in my teenage years. His '86 & '88 solo tours...in the San Francisco Bay Area as well.

DLR is brilliant. He Knew that at that age he has a couple of Albums left in him and He did manage to put some money in his pocket. He wanted to do covers and covers are done in a certain place and time in a career like in the very beginning or very end.
I was BLESSED to share the stage with this beautiful LEGEND of a Frontman a few years back in Calgary Canada.....(code word for opening band) ...

Dave is actually a very down to earth guy but he's "on" when in public and has an audience. He did a sit down interview several years ago. It's just him in a room sitting on a stool just talking. He goes in-depth about his parents and his childhood. You can tell he loves his family very much but his parents had a gard time controlling his energy. He also talks Van Halen in the beginning till the end in 1984. He really goes deep into his philosophy of life and there is no ego in it. He talks about being an EMT and his experiences with just everyday people. He is an Kendo/Iido practitioner so he gets philosophical about that. I just look at him differently now. You could tell he really cared about Eddie but also there was anger.

I'm reading this at the Denny's diner that VH used to hang out in Pasadena. Not sure I'm in the same booth but, same place from what I'm told.
DLR, always the main attraction and attention. Still relevant. Look past the clownish presentation and there lies an intense intellectual, with a successful business mind that still creates his art..his way.
That is true, but I think he would do better to turn down a couple of notches.

When you think of rockstar frontmen and Roths name doesnt come up as one of the best to rep a band, well then you just dont understand how big VH was coming out of the 70's and into the 80's and their sound which was so powerful and so easy identifiable.. He had the looks,voice,grit,showmanship and moves that set VH apart ontop of having the best guitarist and top notch drummer in rock history and you putt that all together and it was and still is pure magic

He says he's going to play in Vegas, then says, "I lost my guitar player" as if he was a hired hand for DLR in Las Vegas.. Someone from TMZ asked about an EVH tribute, and DLR said, "Tribute for who? Me?" But if you listen to Eddie interviews, you'll hear, "Don't print this, because it'll hurt Dave's feelings" over and over.

I think he is very aware it is not but if you are right I'm extremely jealous of him.
I always remember an interview with Dave where he said he would practice his interview material for hours in the car. When you listen to multiple interviews, they are all very similar with many of the same "deep" quotes. An interview with him isn't necessarily and interview as it is a rehearsed rant.
