Often used that airport as a passenger in the 90s. Not an easy airport for landing especially in bad weather. Landed there in the 90's during bad weather and the plane came down not in its normal descent but more steeply and landed with such a jolt some stuff was thrown out out of the serving trolley onto the floor.

In other countries (like South Africa) the transition altitude is lower, so you can find flight levels as low as FL050 (5000 ft)
