Together with Vador they are the only ones who managed to stay within the showground, so I could film his display in one take. There is currently no F-16 display more spectacular than the one Vrieske is flying.
Captain Steven “Vrieske” De Vries :
Forty-nine-year old Captain Steven “Vrieske” De Vries from Belgian Air Component is the first F-16 pilot outside the US to clock, more than 5,000 hours and counting on the mighty Viper
De Vries, has been a member of the Belgian Air Component since 1990 where he flies with the 31st “Tigers” Squadron at Kleine Brogel Air Base, has built up his 5,000 flying hours record on F-16 during operational training missions and operational deployment abroad.
After forming F-16 combat pilots with the Belgian Air Component Operational Conversion Unit, in 1995 he started his operational career in the former 23 ‘Devil’ Smalpart at Kleine-Brogel. There he got his first ‘ 1000 flight hour s’ on the Viper. After the dissolution of this narrow part in 2002, “Vrieske” moved to the 31 ‘ Tiger ‘ Squadron, also in Kleine Brogel, where he reached the consecutive milestones of 2,000, 3,000 and 4,000 Hours prior to the 5,000 flight hours milestone on the F-16.
Since 2022 he is the new Solo Display Pilot of the Belgian Air Force .
Vrieske should be considered for athlete of the year (sportman van het jaar).... the stress on that man's body...

Wow, the negative G's this man is pulling must be incredible. Let alone the positive G's during all those jawdropping manouvres with permanent afterburner. He really is the heir of Belgian pilots like Bill Ongena. Back in 1967 at Bevekom i saw that guy in his F104 performing something that was impossible according the Lockheed testpilots. My first airshow with my parents was in 1968 in Koksijde . At that time the crowd stood only a 20 m from the runway . I remember the Slivers ( 2xF104 ) Belgian team . One of them makes a run upside down a few meters from the ground about the whole runway .
@@marcs_best_airshow_videos Dat moet Bill Ongena geweest zijn. In 1967 was ik 23. De stunt van Ongena heb ik zelf gezien in Bevekom. Als je weet wat een vreselijk nukkig toestel de F104 was!! Die stunt is ook te zien hier op youtube. Btw, ik heb de Dreamviper paintjob op mijn MSFS 2020 flightsim. Prachtig!
