Glad you mentioned B’wave in addition to the Princess effect. The real value for a beginner would be both the gaffs and the notion that they could embellish on, or create another effect with them. That’s one of the real joys of practicing magic.
A few people know Prince’s song When Doves Cry is about him and Vanity 6 member Susan Moonsie. Fewer people know Prince’s song When Doves Crap is about Johnny Thompson.
In a way, this one doesn't seem to fit with the other products in the line. The others I've seen are magic kit-type re-releases of gimmicks, but with video instructions instead of terrible small print stuff like we had back in the day. For this one, it's just cards, of worse than normal quality., and this is the type of trick that really can be explained in a paragraph of text. Also, there are so many great updates to this trick too, including lots of interesting stories and presentations. Mentalists have a field day with this. For methods, Ellis Stanyon's Best Card Tricks by Fulves has several, and it's a $10 Dover book. If you want a video, The Limited Edition Deluxe by Gordon Bean & Larry Jennings is probably more than most people would need, and it's $20 including the cards it looks like. Anyway it's done all over, and done better, for only slightly more money. Weird. Thanks for the review!
Agreed. I think they went with the traditional version because it doesn't require any permission since it's public domain. It's the kind of thing, however, that has been in past magic kits for sure.
Javier is great, but I get the feeling they are working him super hard over there. Sometimes I get a "10 products a day for the rest of the year" type vibe. I hope I'm wrong.
Definitely. I know that in a couple of video I may have sounded like I was down on Javier. I hope it's not coming across that way. I get the same feeling you mentioned. They seem to be throwing a lot of stuff his way with minimal time to practice. He's kind of the Oz Pearlman of Murphy's Magic. :0]
I can't help but feel that this, and other releases by Apprentice Magic, represent a lost opportunity. It's wrong not to have included a couple of well thought out presentations that teach at least some basic concepts of showmanship, beginners are owed more help than this.

The real joy in practicing magic is when the tri-fold mirror looks back at you in your empty soul-less basement bedroom and winks while saying, without speaking, you've finally mastered the Hermann Pass.

I only knew about the second one! :0]

@@StoneColdMagic That's a good comparison. You don't sound down on Javier at all.
