  • TABOULE SALAD
Tabbouleh is a famous Lebanese salad and is considered one of its national dishes.
Lebanese tabbouleh salad, is a culinary delight that embodies freshness, lightness, and simplicity, making it a perfect choice for any occasion. The star ingredient that sets tabbouleh apart is the generous amount of finely sliced parsley, which forms the vibrant green base of the dish. Accompanying the parsley are the juicy red tomatoes, adding a burst of color and sweetness, while the finely diced onions provide a subtle, savory kick. To complete the flavor symphony, fine bulgur, a type of cracked wheat, adds a delightful nuttiness to the salad.
The magic of tabbouleh lies not only in its tantalizing blend of flavors but also in its dressing. A luscious combination of freshly squeezed lemon juice and extra virgin olive oil elegantly coats the ingredients, infusing them with a tangy and rich essence. A pinch of salt elevates the taste, striking the perfect balance between zesty and savory.
Tabbouleh's versatility is undeniable. It complements a wide array of dishes, but it also stands boldly on its own, offering a refreshing and nourishing experience. Whether served at family gatherings, cultural celebrations, or a simple dinner at home, tabbouleh brings people together, celebrating the joy of good food and shared moments.
Tabbouleh salad pairs well with many foods - though some like to eat it by the bowlful on its own.
    INGRIDIENTS:
*Fine cracked wheat aka bulgur. Do note that there are different-sized bulgur grains, so always choose the fine variety.
*Fresh flat-leafed parsley aka Italian parsley will need to be uniformly finely chopped after washing, drying, and cutting away the thicker stems.
*Tomatoes should be ripe but firm and diced finely.
*Onions, usually white or brown onions, should be finely diced to a similar size as the tomatoes.
*Fresh mint leaves - do not use the stems. The leaves will need to be finely sliced.
*Fresh lemon juice along with extra virgin olive oil is used to dress this authentic Lebanese tabbouleh salad.
*Don't skimp on the quality of your oil, as it is key to achieving a deliciously tasting salad.
*Salt and pepper is added to taste.
    🥗HOW TO MAKE TABBOULEH SALAD
Step 1 - Add bulgur to a small bowl. Pour the lemon juice and diced tomatoes on top of bulgur and set it aside for the bulgur to absorb the juice and double in size. This is best done before slicing/dicing the fresh ingredients to give them enough time to absorb the flavors.
Step 2 - In a large bowl, add all the fresh ingredients, the soaked bulgur, and salt. Toss everything together, do a taste test, and adjust the salt, oil, and lemon juice to your liking. Serve cold. As I don't typically measure out the ingredients when making homemade tabbouleh I encourage you to taste-test and adjust the flavors to suit you.
