I was looking for a method to stop the screws from moving when the belt is put back on.

What's the point of the block? Is it just using something uniform in size to check distance on all sides?

Great video. I wouldnt run more than 50% power though

Why only 50%? Is this to get longer life from the tube?

@@jlhkrafts yes if you run it at higher percentages the less hours you will get on your tube

    Hi
I think you have bigger problems than the bed level if you have to run round the cut TWICE with a supposed 100 watt laser. My guess is that if you look at your tube it will be labeled KHLaser?
Hmmm, that will not be good news. With your 2" lens and 80 watts ( what your tube really is ) you should easily cut through 3mm MDF in ONE pass at more than 30mm/s
    Best wishes Russ

I can confirm. Our laser cutter does about the same.

Agree! My glowforge cuts out 1/4" with 45w in 1 pass. I have a 80w being delivered this week and I sure hope it does not require 2 or more passes to cut out 1/8" material. By the way SarbarMultimedia, I find your videos very helpful and informative!

      Hi Tammy
1/8"" birch ply should easily cut at 30mm/sec or more in ONE pass with 80 watts. It all depends on where you bought your tube. The market is flooded with "good value" factory rejects that work but do not deliver the specified rated power. The first test I would perform is a mode burn as in this video. It is the only way to check the performance of your laser beam.

I'm with @SarbarMultimedia. I have a somewhat abused 60W chinese red and black and it cuts 3mm like a knife through butter. More wrong than just the bed level.

Can you cut a 1/2 inch acrylic with your machine?

Hey, great question I myself haven’t tried 1/2 but general rule is 10W of laser power per 1 mm of sheet thickness (maximum thickness being 20-25 mm). 1/2 = 12.7mm
