I bought mine at JoAnns when the AQ Go! first came on the market in 2009(?) and it was discounted at 30 or 40% off plus the dies were also. Of course there wasn't too many dies available then. No GoMe! was available then. I constantly use it and adapt quilt patterns to use the dies. The strip cutters are the best. 2 1/2", 3", 1 1/2 ", 4 1/2", to name a few. When you need a lot of 2 1/2" blocks, cut the strips, then lay them crosswise on the die, and presto, 2 1/2" blocks. Same for the other sizes. I like the HST, in all sizes, no drawing the line, sewing on each side, then cutting, just sew the 2 halves together and your done. The BOB dies for complex cutting designs, such as a feathered star, are a breeze. All the shapes on one die. Double ring wedding quilt, the arcs are a breeze and the center shape. They have a video on how to make bias strips in one pass of the die. I hope you can tell I am an enthusiast but have no affiliation or connection with the company whatsoever. I wish the "expert" YT big time channels all have one as they have the obligatory presentation to make, but then I never see them use it again. I have considered getting the electric GoBig! but then, what if the power goes off? We had a spell 3 yrs ago when no power for 3 days. Well I can plan and cut pieces for quilt projects or just process all the scraps into strips, squares, etc,, when forced to stay home.. One can even hand stitch a quilt. So, hand crank for me, no straining the electric grid. LOL
@marinaabad4995 you should be doing a review not me - you sound like an expert! I remember having occasional power outages when I lived in Toronto but it is extremely rare here in the UK. I’ve lived here over 20 years and I can only remember one that lasted for 2 hours. So I think I’ll be ok with the electric one 😂
My husband bought the Go Big for a Christmas present about 8 years ago. I have problem shoulders, and at the time I could not turn a handle, or cut with a rotary cutter. The Go Big was a life saver. I use it all the time, and it is still going strong. The strip dies are very long, so they do not drop onto table. My first big quilt I made had 1,100 half square triangles. I used the Go Big to cut them out. Otherwise, I think I would still be cutting the pieces out, 6 years later. For me, the Go Big has been worth it. It is an amazing machine,
I LOVE my AccuQuilt Go Big!! As I have often said I wouldn't be quilting without my Go Big. I have RA in my hands and can't hold a rotary cutter. Yes it's expensive but so are good sewing machines. And you can use the dies for years without wearing them out and the mats last a long time too. AccuQuilt says that there is no problem with the die falling out the other end of the Cutter. It's designed to work that way. Many users make a shelf to catch the Die at the other end. I made mine from a box stuffed with Junk Mail and taped shut. I think the Go Big is the best thing since the rotary cutter. PS I do have a Go Me but I've never used it. It was a freebie but I don't need it
😂 me too with the GO Me - it came free with something once - can’t remember what 🤷♀️. I have used it but only a few times. Glad you are still loving your GO Big!
Your game box is perfect! I never put mine away. It's out and ready to use at any time. There are Facebook resale groups in the US but I've never used them. AQ often has sales on the cutters in the US
I really appreciate you showing the details and differences of these cutters. I've been curious about them but don't see them as a necessity. One day I will probably splurge and buy one, and you've given me the info I need to make an informed decision. Thank you 🎉
Thanks! I have an accuquilt playlist where I have put most of the quilts I used the accuquilt for - though I didn’t include all the ones where I used it to cut the binding 😂
I don't have any die cutters. A concern I have about them is the storage requirements of all the dies. For my needs, i think I'll manage with my rotary cutters and collection of pairs of scissors!
@@suzannakoizumi8605The cutters come with a die for 3 shapes so you would t have to purchase anything, but just the general sizes if quilt pieces we mostly use can be purchased without Accuquilt or even on EBay! And the company always always have great sales. Plus there are some quilt stores that carry everything.
I love my go big machine. It has made my quilting so much easier. I suffer from ME so I see it as an essential tool. Enjoy your machine. Happy quilting ❤
That is for sure, we spend a lot on our hobby. I just bought a brother Stellaire EX 1 embroidery machine with the upgrade EX2 . I’d been wanting an embroidery machine for a long time, I finally got it. Now I need to get a new printer….😂!
One downfall of the electric happened to my friend. Her electric go had a part go in it. We live in Canada. There is no company/ distributor that is licensed to repair them in Canada. She had to pay to have it shipped to the US to get a small part that was inexpensive and a large price to ship it. She found a bit of a workaround due to being close to the border/ family in the US. I am mixed about buying one. I could use one due to shoulder problems i am currently having. But it is a luxury item. Still sitting on the fence. If a deal came i would grab it. I have used my friends. It is sad that the company does not have service in the countries they are selling them.
All the Accuquilt videos (even the really old ones) are excellent especially for learning. I’ve been using them for some time but I always learn something new or are reminded of something I’ve forgotten!!! I’d travel with my Go!Me! Or even the Go! But the Go!Big! Would be way too much to take anywhere! At least the first two machines don’t require electricity so work well if traveling and staying in a hotel!
I bought me an AccuQuilt Go Big Cutter yesterday, at a quilt show but I will look around to buy extra dies on FB marketplace etc but I’m so excited I’ve been looking at one for awhile, after right shoulder surgery late 2023 and being out of commission cutting wise for 5 months I decided that was awful I could sew quite quickly but cutting was a painful trial, and I wasn’t happy with non quilters cutting for me, my people will understand this 4.5” need to be 4.5” not 4.45” or 4.55”🤷♀️call me picky but no others cutting(family) lovely offer but no go away 🤦🏼♀️. In a few months I have to commit to left shoulder surgery so not having that problem again so now I have my cutter 👏👏
Congratulations on getting your cutter! Totally get that it would feel better to be back in control of your cutting again! Sorry you are having to do another surgery though! Hope it all goes well for you!
I have the Go hand crank full size and a little one. I have a gazillion dies and haven't used them all. I just got off a hunter star binge. The strip cutters are worth their weight in gold. I have truly 50 or so dies. Have not even used my applique dies yet.
I also have the AQ Go Big, bought second hand a couple of years ago. I'd be lost without it! Last year I bought a job lot of dies for a bargain price. I now have more dies than i will ever use. Much as I love using the machine, I wince at the cost of the cutting mats.
In March I cut so many 1-1/2” strips for my quilt guild for charity quilts - it would have been horrible cutting these by hand. The die can cut up to 6 layers of cotton and thus due I used could cut 5 strips at a time. - 5x6=30 strips at just one pass through the cutter. I cut hundreds in just a few hours - and I also used many scraps that the guild had from other projects! The 2-1/2” strip cutter is the best - with the regular die thst cuts 3 strips at a time, enough strips can be cut for a queen size quilt with just one pass through the machine! 😁😁😁
Thanks for the information. I have a Cut n Boss but rarely use it and I'm not sure why now that i watched your video. Can I ask about your iron in the background please. What type of iron is it and where did you purchase it. Thanks in advance.
Every die fits the Go! Big! Not every die fits the Go! Me! but many do and about 80% or so of all the dies fit the regular size Go! I love all my machines and dies!!!
Well explained 👍. I’ve got the Accuquilt Go 8”. It’s a bit fiddly with the small pieces but I’ve done a small lap quilt. I don’t mind winding the handle, the electric one is expensive- I’ll have to look for a bargain 😉
I "upgraded" my Go for the Go Big. I got to keep the die I originally got with my Go so that was a bonus! This is the first I heard of the Die Catcher and I'm very interested in that. ( It's a bit pricey😱 but what isn't these days? 🤣) I love the accuracy I get , especially when cutting long strips. Sure makes for quick binding strips and sashings!
Great video Thank you. I brought the Go big last year and yes it was expensive but it’s much easier on my shoulder and wrist. I brought a cube set that was on sale but haven’t used it yet but I had to have it 😂😂. If you ever have time I’d love to see you do a video on using a cube set or a quilt made using the cube set 😉 ❤️
Thanks for the suggestion! I do have a cube set but I’ve only ever used it in pieces - as in I used one of the dies in it to do something not using them all. I know I used one or two from a cube die in my stash buster quilt along with- the one with the plus signs.
This was great information. Thanks so much. I've been looking at these for a while but haven't "pulled the trigger " yet. I'm in Canada and as you well know prices are always higher here.
@janem3378, I'm at same point as you, lots of looking and studying (and bingeing on videos) but haven't felt sure enough to buy one. My main pro argument is that I tend to end up with some wonky cuts when I do it by hand. 😅
I have the GoBig. Alot of dies too. I keep the dies on their sides in a sort of file sorting product for kitchen lids. It's alot cheaper than the ones accuquilt sells too. What about the electrical plug? Did you need an adaptor? I love gadgets.
This would make it possible to get back sewing again. I thought I had to give it up because I hadn’t stage 4 breast cancer and ended up with neuropathy very severe in my hands . It will take me a while to save for it. But it will change my life.
So sorry you’ve had to go through that! Glad this might get you sewing again though! Shame they are so expensive but maybe you could tell the family you would like contributions toward it for your Christmas or birthday?
I’m very new I’m waiting for my Go!Big now! I get confused as to what mat goes with what. Some say it has to be the size of the die one place I read it could be smaller! Can you do 2 small dies and use the 14x16 mat? Thanks!
I’ve not tried that but I imagine if you were paying attention and made sure they went through at the same time it might work. Worth an experiment at least ! I have used bigger mats on smaller dies , just not two at a time. Don’t know that it would be official accuquilt advice of course!
Oh wow! I am from Toronto. I’ve been in Edinburgh for about 21 years now. Send me an email if you want to meet up sometime! I know almost no Canadians in Edinburgh.

@genawalter401 exactly- I end up with silly mistakes when I do it myself 😂
Have go and go big. Love the go big. I can use bugger dies.

I have a Sizzix big shot and cut borders and binding for quilts on my strip dies. Very handy.

I have the baby GO cutter. I put fusible on back of my cuts. Love it
Yes it’s great for that. I do that too (just not for the video) and then I save the offcuts with fusible on the back for collage quilting.
I bought my Accuquilt GO cutter at the local thrift store. It was new. I paid $100. Never even knew what it was! LOL!
Bargain! Well done!
I love my AccuQuilt Go. Trading up for Go Big. I would not start a quilt without it
I love my Accuquilt go big. Don’t regret it one bit. It’s awesome!
Thank you. Very informative. Would love to see one of your projects that used the AccuQuilt.
Thanks! I have an accuquilt playlist where I have put most of the quilts I used the accuquilt for - though I didn’t include all the ones where I used it to cut the binding 😂
I have the Go cutter which I love as I cut 3000 2.5 inch squares on it.
Awesome! I have never counted how many things I cut 😂. Well done you! That is patience!
I don't have any die cutters. A concern I have about them is the storage requirements of all the dies. For my needs, i think I'll manage with my rotary cutters and collection of pairs of scissors!
They are not a must have just a nice to have. And you are right they take up some space!
You are missing out!

Gosh I didn’t realise folk were shipping things over the border for repair. 🤞🏻 I don’t have the same problem in the future! Thanks for the info.
I have the Accuquilt Go. I don’t use it as much as I should. I did not know they made an electric one.
They have so many different ones - it can get confusing!
Adorable to listen to your rational to purchase it! We all do this! Thanks for sharing!

How long do the dies last before they get dull and need to be replaced?
Not sure - I haven’t had that happen yet.
AccuQuilt says you never have to sharpen or replace the dies.
Are they worth buying if you don’t do appliques? I have no interest in working with appliqués,
I think a lot of people use it for piecing - especially the cubes. And for me it’s worth it just for cutting binding strips 😂
If you piece quilts, you will not want to cut one without it. I cannot cut a straight line. This makes all my strips, squares, triangles cut perfectly.
I bought a second hand Sizzix at an auction. So far just a handful of dies. I LOVE it.
Cool - I’ve not tried a sizzix
Prices go up every year.
I like my go cutter. The crank isn’t that hard. I would not get the the bigger one because of the cost. The dies are too expensive so I haven’t used it all that much. Not worth the money
I think it tends to be a love it or hate it kind of thing. We are all different!
Accuquilt came out for a die catcher for Go big.
I heard that was happening soon. Cool.
Can’t you just hold it as it comes out. I don’t see a problem
That just cuts down on the efficiency. If something is there to catch it you can be busy loading another die while the cutter does its work.
Function is a complete word, ality adds nothing. You only have to cover the part of the die you want to cut.
I have all 3 and I love all 3.
And far as catching the die in the Go Big Electric, it's already understood that you catch the die , you don't let it fall. Haven't you ever looked at the Accuquilt Tutorial or Eleanor Burns who is the Famous Spokesperson for the Go Big. You Really Need to Do More Research Before You Talk About Accuquilt Products or any Products You Are NOT Familiar With.😢
How rude.!!!
There was a disclaimer that it was her opinion only!😮
