    I got all watery eyed around the 13th minute. It's just something about a dad and his kids helping that gets me all the time!! This was a very informative video and it really made me smile at the end. I know you are a great dad!! thank you Marshall for this video!!!

    Your kids will remember that and made me happy to see it. Many dads either don't teach or don't allow "help" because they'll mess something up. Good on you! Wish all men did this with their kids.

    Great job dad! I’m a semi retired contractor and new home builder. I enjoyed your video, specially towards the end. I have tried multiple times to get my kids involved, my son is only a go for demolition and daughter is only a go for the landscaping part. Anyone can be a father, but it takes a special type to be a DAD! Well done sir.

    Reminded me of my father. He is a Master Electrician and had a tool pouch around my waist at 6 years old. He is the most patient and loving father a kid could want. I loved working summers right by my dad.

    thank you for sharing your project ideas. im now 75 years old but i am a lot like you. i enjoy the work with the challenge.my last project was my shed floor and 94 bags of 80 lb concrete mix a couple of years ago.your a good family man. thank you for sharing you project.

    Great job , reminds me of our concrete pour with our 2 Daughters , priceless…..we ended the job with all of our hand prints and the date in the corner of the pad still look at it to this day , 🖐🖐🖐🖐1998 .

    55 years ago my father let my brother and I help him pour a small sidewalk beside the house and for our reward he let us put our hand print and initials into that hard work. Made me think of that with your kids thanks for reminding me.

    Thank you for sharing this valuable information its helped me pour my cement pad for my sliding gate motor, & concrete around the wife's rectangle flower bed.
    I even got my two boys involved and saved $500 dollars.

    Thanks for this video! My wife wants me to replace our tiny back patio with a larger slab. Between this and a couple other videos, I think we can do this ourselves over a couple of weekends. Now that I’m semi-retired, I have the time to do this without being rushed. Since she wants a paver-like pattern, I want to do this in 3-foot wide X 10’ sections at a time so I can apply the pattern before moving to the next section. What I really liked was how you prepared the ground. It was also great to see your kids helping; they can proudly talk about how they legitimately helped, and they’re learning life skills.

    That was awesome! Thank you for sharing. I like your electric concrete mixer. I just did my 1st concrete pad few days ago, did a "dry pour", it turned out o.k. so far, it's very early. I learned a lot watching YT videos & doing my 1st concrete pad. But next time I will go with the traditional mixing, either rent or buy an electric mixer, that seems to be the time tested method. As others have commented, awesome to have your kids involved.

    I can hear your wife saying, “Not the good broom!” Great to get your kids involved in your concrete project. Just curious as to why you couldn’t make it one continuous slab rather than the two separate ones for the air conditioning.

    Thanks for mentioning the rocks when trying to edge. Had this happen to me today. I'm building a 2ft retaining wall 8 inches thick 30 ft long. One side I kept getting rocks moved in one side. I'm thinking tomorrow try to remove the big rocks next time before pouring water into mix.

    the best video when you involved the kids. My dad would do the same and I still remember those days. Now that I am a full grown adult my husband says I am not capable of concreting a small pad for the rubbish bins. This is a joke right coming from a full grown man. I even want to attempt my own decking and he says he will rip it out and destroy it.

    Shoulda let them do some handprints with some dates! Still remember 15+ years ago when I was 8 or 9 doing a concrete walkway with my mom and all of us kids at the end did our handprints. Great memories

    How did you level the concrete without having a 2 x 4 to push against? You had 3 sides to a square with the 4th side being the house. It looks great and I loved seeing your kids participate...I'm just trying to figure out how you didn't end up with dips and so forth. 7:40 on the video you are past the door way so how did you keep it level?
