Skunk2 Alpha Radiator Install | Civic EK

- Starting to prep the car for the track, I know overheating is a common issue on a stock radiator once you start getting on it. Also since being in the Hot sun as well I felt it was a good upgrade to do. Of course some things never want to go smooth and fit right. I ended up using a B-series lower radiator hose as the ID was the correct size I needed. (D-series was too small) It ended up working out nicely. Subscribe for more videos as I want to fix a couple other minor oil leaks and maybe do something with the brakes as I get some nasty brake fade when they start to heat up. Enjoy!

Nice video Sid good to see you're not torturing toys anymore and got into cars. 😂 Jk I couldn't help it. Good video my man. Also does the rad sit that low even with the bottom bushings? 😎👌🏽
Helpful video by the way
dope video thanks for helping
This was a good video 👌
🤗 Thank you!
Keep Making Videos !!!
Thanks man! 😁
Very helpful video sir!
Same problem here with the hoses... As far as I can see the fittings on the Skunk2 radiator are both the same size and both bigger than the fittings on the D16Z6.
Which, when I understand it correctly, means that both upper and lower hoses will have problems fitting. Is that correct?
I only tried to make the upper STOCK hose fit the UPPER fitting on the Skunk2 radiator, and that was a real pain to get on. So I assume that both stock hoses are the same size (28 or 30 mm??) and that both fittings on the Skunk2 radiator are 32 mm.
Please let me know what fitted what, and what didn't, because it is not alle clear to me... Thanks sir!
My top hose fit without issue. Bottom one was the one that gave me trouble so I got a B series hose that worked a lot easier.
Thanks! I will go and have a Look.... still I ask myself if there isnt too much space on the engine side. Because the D16 fitting is 28mm and the hose you used is 32mm.
BTW, what is the make / brand of your short ram intake?
@@erikthehondaguy7766 AEM (passed smog with it too)
I have the same issue wit my radiator hoses not fitting from my skunk2 radiator to my d16z6 engine. The hose u got, gates 22921, did it fit correctly onto ur engine block
Yea popped on with no issues!
Will d series stock fan work with this radiator?
hey man, what did you end up doing with teh ac cooling lines that are from the oem radiator? those 2 brass attachments from the oem rad? im about to replace mine but am worried about having the 2 wxtra connections
I think the previous owner might have disconnected them before or something cause mine had nothing connected to them. My car had some goofy stuff on it from the previous person so figured it was just like a junkyard radiator or something. But I can always check tomorrow and see if I see anything plugged or capped. Didn't know it was for the a/c but I can see if I find anything lol.
@@oneSMALLgarage yeah my b its not the ac its the transmission lines. you probably have an aftermarket transmission cooler it looks liek a mini oil coolant. i was just curious because im about to replace my oem radiator but have been noticing all the ones i want (skunk 2 alpha, mishimoto etc) all say only with manny trans as they dont have those transmission coolant lines that automatics run.
Oh I have a manual transmission that's probably why I had nothing connected.
That old radiator was for an automatic transmission civic.
Nothing to do with the AC
I think 🤔 you forgot to swap these rubber donut support to the bottom of the new radiator.
It was a pain on the ass but I used my D series bottom hose 😁😎
Bro how was the performance? Did the temp gauge decreases a big amount or the same?
Did not decrease but never once went over operating temp. its pretty dope haha. sitting in traffic and when I ripped it at the track.
So the lower and upper B series hoses fit on a D series Engine?
Not sure about upper but lower does for sure. Probaly could have used the upper but was able to get the top one to fit so did not mess with it too much.
@@oneSMALLgarage Seems like you still used the oem upper hose, how did you make it fit properly?
@@Mindkiller9669 yea fit with no issue at all.
My top hose had very hard time getting on! I'm getting a lower hose like you mentioned. Any advice for top hose? I also have a skunk2 alpha on a 2000 civic ex d16y8. Appreciate your vid man ty
Did the lower hose end up working? For the top hose is it pretty close or can’t get it on at all? My top size on both radiators was the same so mine just slipped right on.
D series hoses fit too just need a little elbow grease.
oh yea i could make it fit but started hearing rubber stretch and with hot coolant running through it. didn't want to risk it haha
@@oneSMALLgarage It comes down to preference. I like mine snug. tight seal that way the water doesnt get around the neck and puts pressure on the hose and rely solely on the clamp. With the bigger hoses I feel its loose on the cylinder outlet and t stat inlet. Either way it works.
No sticker? Smh I don’t want it 😒
