I'm glad you got an upgrade to your rig! Simagic is one of the best Sim racing companies to buy from, as usually their stuff is quite reliable. I have that same shifter and have had no real issues since the day I got it, whereas the HGP H-shifter from Moza that I was using before gave me a ton of mis-shift and calibration issues. @@mark_plays_games-p9c When you use triple screens the side screens view is "skewed" to show perspective, which isn't realistic, so as the car is sideways and you look out the side window/screen/monitor, what you are looking at is a stretched or skewed view, and when the view is stretched/skewed its impossible to use anything for reference. Best of luck with rallying.
I've been waiting for this video since the very first sim racing/rally video dropped and boy am I excited to watch it... this calls for ice cream and popcorn
Congrats! Going from a Logitech to this rig is like going from a base Corolla to a GT3RS. 😊Recommend you get that PC off the floor to not have it just vacuum all the dust off the floor. As for motion, for fun factor, motion is good. Get your friends in it and see their reactions. For training, motion can just confuse the body as it cannot sustain Gs or deal with changing G loads like a decreasing radius turn or double apex situations. It might make you more tired than without. Haptics is awesome though..adding a couple more bass shakers. And for content creation, motion can be a hindrance more than help.
Now get some motion integrated. You can also get belt tighteners to help simulate the pressures you'll see. I'm also with the other comment about vr, I've got triples when I got serious into endurance racing and wearing the headset for 10 hours was uncomfortable, but honestly I reach for the vr headset 9 our of 10 times
Of course it's worth it! I've done it 3 times over haha. From dd+ to simagic ultimate to asetek invicta and still have them all. I do need a new rig soon tbh lol..
This is such an insane upgrade and it honestly feels like I'm watching a real POV of a Rally, can't imagine that feeling i really want a sim rig like that :D Oh Congratulations on the new addition, I'll follow along and i actually watched your upgrade video for the Logitech Setup
Honestly, I needed channel like this. My dream is to be a rally driver some day, but there's probably no good way to see how all this works for ameteurs. So, great idea and you totally have my support when it comes to your career!
I don’t know if you already have one of these but I 100% recommended buying it. It’s called a buttkiker, it vibrates the seat so that you can feel the engine and stuff. You should get it
BRO! Thats what I knew you from! I am a big mountain biker and snowboarder here in colorado and have seen your videos for mtb. I started getting more into the sim drifting last year. Wish I could get more buddies into this other ridiculous hobby lol
Congrats eh! It's been a year now and I've been looking to make the jump from a G923 (my first wheel) to a G Pro set up. Your reaction is making this dirt 2.0 fan want to break out the credit card. Thx
i didnt see you mention it and i dont know how it would be for rally but when i got my buttkicker system setup in it was a game changer when it came to laptimes and immersion.
Congrats on the setup man! Just curious, do you have any previous experience with performance cars IRL? Or is your rally car your first firebreather? Glad you're having fun man, enjoy and stay safe!
Holy smokes. This looks more expensive than my car. Did anyone calculate the sum of this nice setup? Asking for a friend... Congrats on this rig and good luck on reaching your goal.
You practiced properly on the G29 if you could just automatically adjust like this. Im 100% convinced that if you truly practice the correct way on a lower end wheel, youll be so much more "at home" when you get a really high end wheel. I got my g29 a year ago, and then the t300 3 months after. All i ever did was trying to learn proper racing technique. In doing so, the t300 felt like a super high end wheel, when i first upgraded. Then i kept practicing on that, until i came to the point where i felt that i was outperforming my wheel. So two days ago, my Simagic Alpha arrived, and everything just felt RIGHT, despite everyone saying it takes a while to adjust. The added bonus - i went from enjoying the concept of improving, to just straight up enjoying driving a car around a track. I was really missing that.
Hi loved the video, you talked about a motion sim at the end but if you want more immersion for around 300-400 Canadian Dollars there is a device called a butt kicker. Its used a lot in sim racing and its basically a bass shaker so it emulates vibrations like the engine or shifting. There are also cheaper options, butt kicker is like the apple of bass shakers because of its user friendly platform (more plug and play then other options) . I've heard many people say it increased the immersion a lot, you should check it out! Love the content keep it up!
Get a Dayton Audio BST-1, strap it under your seat get a Nobsound Mini Amp and some speaker wire and you're set for less than 100 dollars. I don't know if it's comparable to a buttkicker but it's good. There are a lot of youtube videos on how to do it. I use it for engine vibration, a subtle bump when I shift and road vibration/bumps (also subtle) from the suspension. Try not to overdo it. SimHub is relatively easy to use, but it takes some tweaking to get what you want. If I have it off I feel like I'm floating over the road and it feels like something is missing. So it's definitely great for immersion.
Thanks! As soon as we get the new seat and steering wheel put in, and everything is fitted properly in the real car (which is happening this week), I’ll be taking all the measurements and sharing them in a video. So they’ll be available sooner than later!
The obvious next step to me, rather than the triple screen, is VR, since you get the depth cues of a fully 3d world, rather than the abstraction of a 2d flat image. Having to force your brain to judge how far pixels are, instead of intuitively knowing it with your eyeballs in VR, makes a huge difference. I mean, it's not too late, just plug in a Quest 3 (small additional expense at this point), you're golden.
Nice things dont make you faster over one lap.... but they matter. A good seat makes it so much nicer to sit for a long time (good for your back). A good brake will make you more consistent. A good wheel will makes you more smooth. And if you want a really nice seat then do what I did and buy a used car seat and adapt the holes to your rig. I have a Audi A6 driver seat and I can sit for 4-6 hours without any problems (and it cost me 250 dollars from a accident car)
I think you definitely should get a bass shaker. The dirt rally telemetry isn't the greatest, but I think jump, engine vibration and road vibration makes it feel a lot less like you're floating on the road.
What do you think is the biggest change? Switching to the new rig with all the new components is obviously a big step overall, but what stands out the most? Is it the triple monitor setup, the wheelbase, the wheel, the pedals, the shifter or perhaps the seating position?
Hmm that’s a good question. For in-game performance, I’d have to say it’s the wheelbase. I went back to the Logitech setup the other day, and I’m getting almost zero information, in comparison. I can tell what’s going on, grip-wise (and what’s about to happen) much more easily with the DD wheel. Especially one with so much headroom. Having the right sized monitor at the right distance is a close second. Hope that helps!
@@RyansRoadToRally Yes, thats very interesting. I use a fanatec csl dd 8nm and I am quiet happy with it. I wonder if such high torque values are necessary for rally driving? But of course I would like to feel the contrast to a simagic wheelbase ;). Unfortunately, I don't have space for a triple monitor system, but I think I got the best out of it and driving is a lot of fun! I hope you have a great time with this cool new rig!
one tip when you are actually training is practice wearing your helmet and fire safe race gloves it changes the feel of everything when your in the actual car and a good way to prep :)
Hey man, loving the series so far but if you want to take the simulator to the next level you have to try VR. It's a complete game changer and you will not get the same training effectiveness from triple screens. If your budget can stretch I'd recommend looking into a bigscreen beyond, otherwise a quest 3 achieves close to the same level of performance at a lower cost.
First of all I think that you should try Iracing. Sweet rig by the way I just got my first Aluminum rig. Also you should get buttkickers, maybe just start with one or you could go full blown 4 corners kit. But they add so much immersion ands way cheaper than motion.
You kept saying the best sim rig it can possibly be but there are big hydraulic systems that just don't compete to what you can fit and build at home, so id say its the best you can get at home
I really enjoyed your video. Interesting you want to built a realistic rally simulator. Since I have used many different types of motion simulators, I want to tell you something for your information. For circuit racers who value delicate braking, I mainly recommend affordable 'seat-movers' which produce direct feeling from less movements. However, most rally gamers seem to like the suspension movements. For those people, I recommend 4-axis cylinder(?) type products such as D-BOX. Above all, you should limit the range of movements that interfere with driving, whatever you choose. Please note that the word 'realistic' doesn't stand for quantitative and numerical values. It's not realistic for the simulator to move 1 inch when the car moves 1 inch. What 'realistic' is about how you feel in the car while the car itself moves 1 inch. There are many things between car and you like suspension and seat etc. And human perception is not objective. When multiple forces applied on your body at the same time, humans tend to focus only on stronger certain forces. So what realistic in the motion sims is subjective feelings referred to human perception, not numbers. So, please don't be fooled by how much range of motion it has. You won't use all that range. Of course, a larger pitch angle will allow you to feel the slope, but you will have to reconsider your entire rig including monitor stand. And also, too much range of movements produce too much rebound movements which is not intended. Obviously not realistic. I'm not a fan of yaw devices that express traction loss by sliding the rear. they are pretty fun for rally and drift drivers. Only for fun, not for realistic driving information. Rear-sliding devices can make you confused quite often. Anyway, nice video! Keep it up! I hope to see the video about your thoughts on motion sims someday.
Sub'd :) Dude this is the cleanest build I've seen! Looks amazing and excellent choice going Simagic :) I have had the mini for 2 years, and this week the Alpha Ultimate is coming in the mail :) Great content!
Unless Dirt Rally 2 has added proper angled triple monitor support recently, you are going to have significant distortion on the left and right screens, with the monitors angled that far. The only way triples work atm, is having them all in a line. As far as I'm aware, there are no triple monitor mounts that allow easy pivoting of the side screens from 0 degrees to 45/60 degrees. It's been on my bucket list to make for a while, but to truly do it properly, they need to pivot right on the absolute edge of the front of the bezels between the monitors. I'll get around to it one day, when I have the money, in my usual fashion of hacking things together that work, that will never make it to the market, lol.
Haha fair enough. The amount of distortion I'm getting has been pretty reasonable, especially considering they are mainly for giving a sense of speed in my periphery. When going through hairpins and looking through the side window, it's a little wonky looking, but I'll take it over not having triples cover my full vision.
Subscribed! I didn't see any mention of bass shakers on the rig. Do you plan to add these in the future? IMO, bass shakers are the single most important thing that really kicks up the realism.
Thanks! It depends. I’d love to work towards a motion system, so I will likely aim for one that handles those types of haptics. If motion winds up being something completely out of reach, then I will 100% be adding shakers.
@@RyansRoadToRally Motion rigs still commonly use buttkickers. The vibrations are different and it's far less taxing on a bass driver to produce certain frequency vibrations than a motor rapidly oscillating back and forth. That's how motors get cooked.
That rig looks stellar. The color of this Sabelt rig is amazing. What is the name of the keyboard you are using, please? You got a very good sponsor - Simagic is killing it lately with their simracing gear. Everything is very good and yet still clever price. be careful with the motion rig - research more about it. Its not as 'good' as you'd think. It can actually be worst if wrong one is used or settings are not good.
People are happy with lower spec thrustmaster setups UNTIL they try a highend setup like this and realise the fidelity and feeling every tiny bit of feedback through a 23nm base. You will continue to love the Alpha Ultimate base, I know I love my two.
It’s just not great if you like to be comfortable for long (hour+) sessions. It’s admittedly an incredibly immersive experience, and I’d love to try Pimax Crystal light or super, but my experience so far with my Quest 3 was good only in short 30 to 40 minute bites, but the eye strain and stomach discomfort always catches up.. Triples or ultra wide is plenty of immersion, especially with a good head and eye tracker, and maybe even going the extra mile to deck out your rig with embellishments that make it feel and look even closer to being in a car, like so many youtube sim racers do.
Hey, do you have a complete build list somewhere? I didn’t realize you were the same guy from the mountain bike channel at first. It’s been a while, but I used to watch all those videos also.
Hey Ryan have you or could you list all the components you used to build your latest sim rig? I’m about to look at building my own and a picking list would be great, thanks Simon

I recently just built another rig but dont have all the things i need to do rally. Just GT3 and Formula. I love that i have a rig again and i can sim race, but I sill feel like something is missing, and i know that something is rally.
Hey I saw the thread about RBR already but from my experience here are the largest differences between DR2: RBR weight transfer is way more realistic RBR handbrake is also a lot more realistic Graphically DR2 is still the most realistic looking sim on the market Tarmac on DR2 is absolutely horrible RBR is way better at testing car setups If you're trying to practice for real life RBR is definitely the go to, wrc drivers use it, it has a way steeper learning curve but translates into real life a lot more realistically
So which sim should I try on the rig next?

Love the channel. Keep it up and good luck.
Dude!! This makes me want to do this!! Awesome and well done.
What monitors/tvs are those?
Hey Ryan, I basically copied your Logitech setup and it’s been fantastic so far. Good to see you get deeper into things!
Nice! That logi setup is so much fun.
Absolutely goated sim rig!
I'm high on your second-hand glee. Huge congrats on the rig.
This is such an insane upgrade and it honestly feels like I'm watching a real POV of a Rally, can't imagine that feeling i really want a sim rig like that :D
Oh Congratulations on the new addition, I'll follow along and i actually watched your upgrade video for the Logitech Setup
Love your setup :)
Honestly, I needed channel like this. My dream is to be a rally driver some day, but there's probably no good way to see how all this works for ameteurs. So, great idea and you totally have my support when it comes to your career!
I had the same thought as you. "How the heck do I actually get into this sport?" It's time to find out! Thanks for following along.
This is the best pov sim driving I’ve seen on RUclips to date
Thanks! I can't wait to get things properly dialled in.
I don’t know if you already have one of these but I 100% recommended buying it. It’s called a buttkiker, it vibrates the seat so that you can feel the engine and stuff. You should get it
I’ve been looking into them! Seems like it would be a great addition.
I love this guy's videos
this is insane! On the old setup i could relate to the speed in it but now this seems like a step up haha
Thx
Great Content! Really enjoying the series. If you want to really blow your mind you should try it in VR. I play dirt 2 in vr and its Amazing.
17:10 I thought the main camera was the game and not his camera on his head I just noticed that wow 17:10
epic dream set up, hopefully mine will be that sick someday!
btw great driving!
I love seeing people’s reactions to using direct drive for the first time. Wish I would have recorded mine. Good luck on journey
I am genuinely looking forward to seeing your adventure prosper
i didnt see you mention it and i dont know how it would be for rally but when i got my buttkicker system setup in it was a game changer when it came to laptimes and immersion.
Congrats on the setup man! Just curious, do you have any previous experience with performance cars IRL? Or is your rally car your first firebreather? Glad you're having fun man, enjoy and stay safe!
I’ve owned some fun daily drivers before (old Audi’s), but the Impreza is my first proper performance car.
Holy smokes. This looks more expensive than my car. Did anyone calculate the sum of this nice setup? Asking for a friend...
Congrats on this rig and good luck on reaching your goal.
the rig i only can dream of :D
You should try it in Vr mate, can make you feel sick at first but you build a tolerance to it
PLEASE DO more videos of this pov on the sim i love it
Definitely! I’ve got a plan to make the POV footage on this channel look pretty awesome. Fingers crossed it actually works haha.
Congrats on the upgraded system. You do much mechanic stuff with your car or you letting the shop do most of the work?
It makes me happy to see people happy. Very nice setup and thx for showing me your emotions with this crazy setup. Good Video.
Greetings from Germany.
Great video as always, keep them coming!
Not sure if I missed anything but can you provide the measurements of the real car you mentioned? Thank you!
Thanks! As soon as we get the new seat and steering wheel put in, and everything is fitted properly in the real car (which is happening this week), I’ll be taking all the measurements and sharing them in a video. So they’ll be available sooner than later!
@ thank you so much, as a car and filmmaking enthusiast I’m really loving this journey and the way you are documenting it!
I've been waiting for this one!
Great rig, enjoyed the vid
The obvious next step to me, rather than the triple screen, is VR, since you get the depth cues of a fully 3d world, rather than the abstraction of a 2d flat image. Having to force your brain to judge how far pixels are, instead of intuitively knowing it with your eyeballs in VR, makes a huge difference. I mean, it's not too late, just plug in a Quest 3 (small additional expense at this point), you're golden.
I 100% want to try VR. Looking forward to giving it a go!
Good thing the crashes don't feel like they're real. Hahaha
Jokes apart, kudos, man! That's a hell of a job on the sim.
Great setup, great video!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I think you definitely should get a bass shaker. The dirt rally telemetry isn't the greatest, but I think jump, engine vibration and road vibration makes it feel a lot less like you're floating on the road.
Sounds like a good call!
I absolutely want to try VR, especially for the depth perception part of the equation.
I personaly race with vr and i find it sooo much better than with monitors because the depth you should try that too!
First of all I think that you should try Iracing. Sweet rig by the way I just got my first Aluminum rig. Also you should get buttkickers, maybe just start with one or you could go full blown 4 corners kit. But they add so much immersion ands way cheaper than motion.
Next step, some dayton audio bst-300ex bass shakers, an amp and Simhub to get tactile feedback.
You kept saying the best sim rig it can possibly be but there are big hydraulic systems that just don't compete to what you can fit and build at home, so id say its the best you can get at home
what a sick setup
Keep it up! I hope to see the video about your thoughts on motion sims someday.
try to get a vr set just to test it out... thaths next level
What are those monitor Vesa mounts ?
Super clean rig btw i hope you enjoy it !
Sub'd :) Dude this is the cleanest build I've seen!
Looks amazing and excellent choice going Simagic :) I have had the mini for 2 years, and this week the Alpha Ultimate is coming in the mail :)
Great content!
Nice! You're gonna love that Alpha U. Definitely an arm workout if you want it to be haha.
Have you considered putting the handbrake on the inside and h pattern on the outside? I have the same Simagic setup but the handbrake is closest to me
Unless Dirt Rally 2 has added proper angled triple monitor support recently, you are going to have significant distortion on the left and right screens, with the monitors angled that far.
No richard burns rally?
I just wanted to start with a direct comparison with the game I’ve been playing on the PlayStation. I’ll be trying em all!
@@RyansRoadToRallycheck out the HF8 seat cover for a quick fix ✌️
You have to try VR , triples are nice but VR gives you ultimate level of immersion.
I plan on it!
Beam ng has got some good rally if you ever want to try that 👍
Hey, do you have a complete build list somewhere? I didn’t realize you were the same guy from the mountain bike channel at first. It’s been a while, but I used to watch all those videos also.
I'd suggest RBR and some of the brutal Finnish stages. If Dirt Rally puts a smile on your face, RBR will make you scream :)
Hey Ryan have you or could you list all the components you used to build your latest sim rig? I’m about to look at building my own and a picking list would be great, thanks Simon
I miss rally so bad. I had a full on rig at the beginning of the year. Due to some emergencies i had to sell everything i had. I recently just built another rig but dont have all the things i need to do rally. Just GT3 and Formula. I love that i have a rig again and i can sim race, but I sill feel like something is missing, and i know that something is rally.
Hey I saw the thread about RBR already but from my experience here are the largest differences between DR2:
RBR weight transfer is way more realistic
RBR handbrake is also a lot more realistic
Graphically DR2 is still the most realistic looking sim on the market
Tarmac on DR2 is absolutely horrible
RBR is way better at testing car setups
If you're trying to practice for real life RBR is definitely the go to, wrc drivers use it, it has a way steeper learning curve but translates into real life a lot more realistically
That looks like you are playing in vr it is sick dude
You're speechless with that rig? Then a full motion rig would definitely blow your mind! 🙂
I don’t doubt it!
speed up the speed up in the speed up sentence nice touch
